I definitly dig the mixing of Firefly with other stuff, and it's definitly something I would like to see more of.

But, on the other hand, I am not too fond of John Wayne. As far as cowboys... Clint Eastwood stands head and shoulders above everyone else.

I won't let that take away from the whole idea of it, I love the mixing of two seperate things, and you should really do more.

When I saw the small thumbnail of this I was thinking "who's that supposed to be - Jayne? It certainly doesn't look like him"

then I saw the pic in all its glory and... well, you've done it again mphillips. this is truly wonderful

Now if only you could edit the BDM, and add a shot of John Wayne in the background

Oh, what an awesome concept! I like John Wayne way better than CLint Eastwood:) How I would love to see that scene for real on screen....but your drawing is a very lovely image, and I'll content myself with that. Keep up the absolutely awesome work!

By the way, I featured you in my blog last night on serenitymovie.org, and I eagerly await the day you get the whole signed prints thing worked out. Also I'll reiterate my offer to sell them on my site should you want some additional exposure, not that I think you'll need it!

Your work is beautiful, as always, and the subject matter is too cool for words! Great idea.

Excellent as usual, like the concept. John Wayne and Audie Murphy are lots better than Clint!

CANTONHEROINE

Very nicely done!

You know, I had a revelation the other day after reading bookaddict's "Cowboys" fic (in which Jayne & Kaylee watch Rio Bravo). I noticed that Jayne is actually an amalgam of John Wayne; ie. (J)ohn w(AYNE). I figure that was some of the inspiration behind the name (along with Johnny Cash's "Boy named Sue, which has an obvious correlation).

Maybe a pic of The Merc and The Duke together would be fitting?

if it came to choosing, I'd say I'm a bigger Clint Eastwood fan, but there's no denying the legend of John Wayne... the man was like MADE out of steak ;p

your pairing of the two fits so well... I'm sure Mal had to have watched plenty of John Wayne movies to get that patented right hook just right :)

Hehehe...

I can just picture John saying "Can you hear me?"

Nathan: "I'm standing right here..."

lol

mphillips, I don't post here often but I just wanted to say I'm a big fan of your work and I find myself checking in alot to see what cool new stuff you have up.

Anyway I thought of a request today...
There's a photo of Alan floating around that is a picture of him at some convention and he's slumped in a chair holding a microphone. I don't know why but something about his posture and the look on his face ... I just love that picture. If you could do that one, I would love you forever only could he be holding a bottle of beer instead of a microphone? Hehe.
If you are interested but don't know the picture let me know and I'll try to find it and post a link to it.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

I never thought of John Wayne fitting in with Mal... but man, he sure does. For some reason the two go together, and I love 'em both. I love this!
