He moved slowly, deliberately, rocking against her at a leisurely, languid pace. After the urgency of the last few days, Simon was content to take it slow this time, to show Kaylee how much he truly loved and respected her. The first few days had been an amazing whirlwind of a dream; one he had never thought would be realized. He thought that he was going to die, never having experienced her passion, her love, her simple kiss. He’d wanted her for so very long now, had denied himself the thought that he could make her happy with his attention so divided. He had his sister to look after, to protect. But she was getting better now. Miranda had healed what he, the brilliant physician, could not.
Now, as he moved against Kaylee, sliding deep with every thrust of his hips, pulling out nearly completely only to repeat at the same slow, languid pace, he felt free. Free of the responsibilities that had prevented him from being with her sooner.
He pressed his mouth against her neck, feeling her pulse beat against his lips, against his tongue. With one hand he held her hips flush against his, guiding her even though she didn’t need it. He had to touch every inch of her, feel her smooth skin pressed up against him. His other arm held his weight mostly off her, but his fingers twined into her hair, tugging her head back towards his mouth when it lolled to the side in an expression of overwhelming passion.
Her fingers clutched his shoulders, his back, pulling him closer, wanting to feel his skin against hers, damp with a light sheen of sweat. She whimpered as her hands alternated tugging at his dark hair, and at whatever part of him she could reach. Her mouth parted in breathless pants as she felt every solid inch of him pierce her so slowly she thought she would burst from the pleasure of it all.
Simon whispered to her, over and over, disbelief and wonder evident in his voice. That they could be here, now, after everything that had happened was still a mystery. He kissed her neck, slowly, matching the pace of his hips as they moved against hers. His tongue trailed a line of moist heat to her ear then slowly moved across her cheek, where they came into contact with the salty taste of her tears.
He lifted his head, his eyes widening when he noticed the drops slipping from beneath her tightly closed eyes. His heart plummeted into his ankles and he swallowed thickly, nervously, wondering what he had done wrong, if he had hurt her in some way.
“Kaylee?” He tried to pull away, pull out of her, but her legs tightened around his back and her arms tightened around his shoulders.
“Simon, don’t stop,” she whispered, her voice barely audible as she turned her head to brush his cheek with her own.
“But –“ he had stopped thrusting and simply lay against her, buried deep. “You – you’re – what did I do?” The hand that had been resting at her hip slid to her cheek, his thumb wiping away the tears that flowed more freely when she opened her eyes. “Bao bei?”
The worried tone in his voice pushed Kaylee to reassure him it was nothing he had done. Well, not directly. “You didn’t do nothin’. I jus – I feel so bad. We’re all happy when –“ she sniffled, “everyone else is so sad.”
Simon suddenly understood. He kissed her gently and pressed his cheek to hers, nuzzling the damp skin. He wasn’t sure what to say. He felt the same. They had found one another after the loss suffered at Miranda. Zoe had lost her husband and the entire crew had lost one of their own. Kaylee felt guilty for being so happy and while Simon understood that pain, their lives hadn’t ended on Miranda. They had to go on.
“They wouldn’t want us to dwell on the past.” Simon whispered soothingly, his voice a mere whisper.
“I know.” Kaylee clung to him and rolled her hips, urging him to continue.
He had softened considerably but as her body tightened around him, he could feel himself harden again.
“Don’t stop, Simon. Please. Just love me.” Kaylee turned her head and kissed him deeply, pushing her tongue into his mouth almost desperately.
“I do. God Kaylee. I do.” Simon moved against her again, hissing as he swelled further and her slick body tightened around him. He knew she wanted to lose herself in their passion, in their happiness. Just as he did.
“Then what ya waitin’ for?” A hint of a smile passed across her pretty face as she looked up at him, eyes brightening with each languid thrust. “Jus had a weak moment, is all. No need to stop on that account.”
“Kaylee –“ he knew she was still hurting. She wore her heart on her sleeve and after months of being the cause of that hurt, he could recognize the signs in an instant. It made him hesitate, even though her body stretched and welcomed his intrusion.
“Simon?”
He kissed her cheek gently, resting his forehead against her neck. “Hmm?”
“You don’t sex me good and proper, you’re on the floor tomorrow night.”
Simon chuckled and gasped when her legs tightened around him and her hands tightened in his hair. Their earlier, languid pace was forgotten when her nails raked down his back and her hips arched sharply to meet his. With one hand at her lower back, he tilted her hips and felt a swell of purely male pride when she gasped.
“Oh. That’s good,” Kaylee panted, scrunching her eyes shut.
“You’re good for me,” Simon breathed, quickening his pace. The arousal and passion built quickly, spiraling them ever closer to a release they both needed.
Even after only a few days, Simon knew Kaylee’s body well. He was a doctor, after all. He was schooled in such knowledge. But no textbook and no professor, not even years as a trauma surgeon had prepared him for the delight Kaylee’s body, her mind, her shining personality, would bring to his life. He knew how her body worked from a purely educational standpoint, but he had learned, and was still learning, how her body worked when wrapped around his, encasing him, tightening and squeezing him.
She panted deliciously, squeaked when he thrust in a specific way, mewled with passion-glazed eyes when his fingers brushed against that special place. She intoxicated him in every way, and he never intended to let this precious creature go. He would be by her side forever, if she was willing.
They were close now, each lost in one another, panting heavily. Simon wrapped his arms around her and urged her to let go. And she did and as the tremors began deep in her gut, spreading out to encompass her entire body, he fell with her, driving deep one last time before crying out against her neck.
Kaylee was crying again when he lifted his head but he knew this time. He knew that no words would comfort her. She was crying with joy mixed with guilt. He rolled onto his side and drew her into his arms, encasing her tightly in his warm, protective embrace. She snuggled close, her sobs subsiding after a time.
Simon knew the pain of loss would linger far after tonight but they could deal with it together. And if Shepherd Book’s God was willing they would have a life full of happiness and many fat babies to whom they could tell outrageously embellished stories about those cherished crew who no longer walked with them.
~*~ On the other side of the screen door, a forehead rested against the wall, a slim hand flattened beside it, shaking. Tumultuous emotions filtered through River’s mind from happy, to sad, to sated, to mad. She couldn’t block them. They flowed from the room in such powerful waves that she had been driven to her knees from the shock of it all. Tears slipped down her cheeks as she closed her eyes, breathing deeply. Kaylee loved so passionately and Simon so deeply. River knew their lives would be happy ones, even though there would be bumps and losses along the way. The psychic let herself relax and drift off to sleep as the mental and physical exhaustion permeating her brother’s room flowed through her, finally lulling her into a peaceful, slumber.
