The last scene in the message done in sepia. I already did this comic book style..but it was requested, so...(Besides any excuse to draw the good captain is ok with me...)

God, this episode was so sad. And for more than one reason, too. I think the cast and crew found out about Firefly's cancellation while they were filming this one. The feeling of loss really comes through, especially in the last scene. The music alone is enough to make you want to cry.

Even just talking about the characters, without all the backstage drama, is enough to break your heart. Mal has so few friends. He can't afford to lose as many of them as he has. Tracey may have been a complete and utter screw-up, but he was still a good person inside.

Your drawing just captures Mal's feeling of resigned sadness so well. The man has gotten kicked while he's been down so many times, it's a wonder he even bothers to get up again.

Oh, M- this is my favorite yet! This is my avatar... this scene, it's the shot of the captain that makes my heart catch in my throat. You have done him such justice. He's perfect.

How did we get so blessed as to have you sharing these wonders with us every day? You are wonderful!

I just realized you make an excellent statement of what makes Mal a hero to me ...he might not win every fight but he keeps getting up..and thanks for the comments...

I love your sepia themes the best. Especially when you use the softer lines on them. The fuzzy snowflakes on this one are great.

His expression is perfect, still stand-offish but a hint of the hurt.

I know you did this in the comic book style and it's hard to choose which one I like the best. You haven't done too many comic book style that are colored and this scene was one of the few. I didn't think you could have done it any better than the comic style, but you've proved me wrong.

I think the sepia is just the right style for your Firefly stuff. (Don't get me wrong, I love the comic style too!) The scheme just radiates the feel of the show, like when you go get your photo taken at the 'old western' souvenier photo places.

Wow....just amazing and beautiful and heartbreaking. Really captures the soul of Mal and the layers of sadness in that scene. Life batters him about so horribly, and somehow he does get up and go on with love and courage every time.

I guess that's one of the main things I admire about him so much is the fact that despite everything that has happened around him and to him, he has the courage to continue life without shutting down and closing out people and the warmth they can bring.

That look just says it all....the hurt and the drive to carry on. Well, well done.

Oh - and by the way, you can draw nothing BUT Mal and hear no complaints from me:)

Do you have a website where all your goodness is in one place? I'd love to bookmark it for days when I need some cheering up. Also, can I request one of the scene where Saffron is rolling her eyes at Wash??? Pretty pretty please with strawberries and hot cheese on top? (But not together - ewww.)
