It had been a long time since Simon had woken up to the sensation of tight, wet heat enveloping him. He inhaled sharply when consciousness returned and he found Kaylee on top of him, squeezing his still hardening erection inside herself rather than with her hands or lips.

He opened his mouth but nothing came out except a huge rush of air. Kaylee rolled her hips against his, lifted and sank down again, over and over until he had hardened completely inside her.

“Love that.” Kaylee’s eyes sparkled as she leaned over him, her breasts hovering in front of his face in an invitation he could not refuse.

His hands slid to her waist and pulled her down to him, hungrily taking one nipple into his mouth and sucking deeply. There was no slow, languid loving this morning. He had woken to Kaylee already in the midst of taking what she wanted – a habit he hoped she never tired of because he certainly wouldn’t. One hand slid up her back, rubbing along her spine as his other held her waist, driving her down onto him as if she needed a guide.

When she leaned away, he groaned at the loss of contact with her breasts, but gasped as she changed her position on top of him to drive him deeper still.

“Kay – God. Like that. Yes.” Simon breathed as his eyes scrunched shut and her body rocked harder against his. This new position afforded him the ability to reach between them to bring her even more pleasure. With one hand still on her hips, the other slid between them, searching for that lovely little hidden bundle that he wanted so desperately to touch, to feel, caress and stroke. When he found it, he circled it lightly with the pad of a finger, enjoying the breathless pants and moans coming from Kaylee above him.

She tried to thrust her hips against his finger, but he pulled it away just as he would have touched her swollen flesh. She grunted in annoyance and leaned away from him, tilting his position inside her once again.

Simon gasped as he felt her inner muscles flutter around his rigid length, driving him closer and closer to release. He reached out again and pressed his thumb to her, applying direct pressure to the sensitive little nub and making her cry out.

Kaylee ground her hips against the hardness inside her and against the finger rubbing so insistently over her clit. She closed her eyes and trembled, her muscles tightening as the tension filled her body. A few more passes of his finger were all she needed for that coil to snap and send her careening into a breath-stealing orgasm that brought her panting violently against his chest. Her body clenching around his drove Simon to follow with a sharp snap of his hips and a breathless cry of her name.

Simon pressed a kiss to her forehead, cheeks and finally her lips, as he lilted her head so that he could look into her cloudy eyes. “Love you,” he whispered and was rewarded with one of Kaylee’s bright, supernova-sized smiles.

“Love you, Simon.” Kaylee rubbed her cheek against his shoulder and playfully nipped at his neck. “Good morning.”

“Mmm, good indeed.” He settled her into his arms and simply dozed, his heart light and his body quite happily sated.

River smiled happily at her brother and Kaylee as they walked hand in hand into the dining area. Two seats had been saved beside each other for the couple, as they had, in the months since Miranda, had been consistently late for the communal mealtimes.

“How nice of you two to finally join us,” Mal mumbled around a mouthful of food and gaped at Inara when she kicked him under the table.

“Well, he’s right.” Jayne shrugged in Simon and Kaylee’s direction. “They’re always late.”

The couple in question didn’t bother to answer. Simon pulled out Kaylee’s chair and smiled tenderly at her as they took their seats.

“I’m sure they have a good reason,” Inara said with a knowing smile.

“Yeah, sexin’s as good a reason as any to be late.” Jayne grinned around a mouthful of his own food.

Kaylee smiled widely at Simon for a moment, a silent, heated look passing between them. She reached for his hand beneath the table and gave it a light squeeze.

“Yeah, ain’t no secret what you two were doin’ this mornin’. Even if we didn’t have River givin’ us a play by play.” Jayne added with a smirk of his own, hoping to unnerve Simon.

It worked but only for a moment as Simon paused for a moment and then dipped his chopsticks into his bowl. After nine months of Jayne’s crude comments about his sex life, he was finally getting used to it.

River turned to Simon just as he brought his chopsticks to his mouth. “I want to be an aunt.”

Conversation at the table stopped abruptly.

Simon choked on nothing as he dropped his chopsticks. Crude comments he could get used to. Rivers comments, well, they were another matter entirely.

Kaylee’s eyes widened and she stared at Simon for a long moment trying not to look too giddy at the prospect of having a baby. She could just imagine having a little duplicate Simon running around at her feet; a little one with his pretty face, striking eyes and her wide, happy smile.

Mal stared at Simon with a raised eyebrow, waiting for some forthcoming announcement before he pummeled the young doctor into tiny little bits.

Inara watched Kaylee carefully, trying to see if River’s announcement would bring about some new revelation. But she was satisfied that the strangely happy smile when the mechanic looked at Simon did not indicate that she was pregnant, only that she wanted to be. Inara wasn’t sure if she should be happy for Simon or worried.

Jayne and Zoe took turns glancing around the table, their gazes finally settling on Simon and Kaylee.

Simon finally found his voice, more from the tension and anger radiating off Mal than anything else in the room. “River – uh – I’m glad that you want to be an aunt but that would require –“

“You and Kaylee having sex without protection.” River said matter of factly. “And that’s not going to happen any time soon if you have any say in the matter.” River turned to Kaylee knowing she'd get more support from the bubbly mechanic. “I want to be an aunt.”

Kaylee’s smile brightened and she patted River’s closest hand. “Thank you, sweetie, but we haven’t –“

Mal leaned forward and glared at Simon and Kaylee. “No kids on my boat. Dong ma?”

“Oh Mal.” Inara shook her head and frowned at the Captain. And they’d been getting along so well too.

“River –“ Simon tried again, glancing rebelliously at Mal before directing his full attention to his sister. “That is a decision Kaylee and I will make when the time is right. I’m sorry, but you don’t have a say.”

River frowned at him and turned back to Kaylee. “You’ll make the prettiest baby, even with Simon’s boob-like genes.”

Simon rolled his eyes and playfully slapped at his sister’s shoulder as Kaylee giggled.

“Oh, I dunno,” Kaylee’s eyes sparkled as they swept over Simon’s handsome face. “I think he’s got pretty good baby genes.”

Simon shook his head. “No. We are not having this conversation at the dinner table.” He stared at his sister. “No, you do not have a say on when we do or do not have children.”

“No. Babies.” Mal reiterated and this time grumbled at Inara as she kicked him under the table.

River looked calmly at Simon, her eyes glazing for a moment before clearing. “I’ll hide your contraceptive shots.”

Simon gaped at his sister. Kaylee’s eyes widened. Zoe and Inara covered their mouths as laughter bubbled past their lips.

“River –“

“You better do no such thing, lil’ Albatross.” Mal warned, his eyes narrowing in irritation.

Simon turned and snapped at Mal, his temper finally fraying. He hadn’t even asked Kaylee to marry him and his sister wanted him to have children. No. This conversation was not going to happen. Not today. “This is a family matter, Captain. I’ll thank you to stay out of it.”

Mal glared indignantly at his medic. “And we ain’t family now? Seems you got some squewed sense of –“

“Mal!” Inara kicked him harder this time and he stood, glaring at the Companion. “Let them talk about this on their own. It’s none of your –“

“They’re on my boat. They wanna bring a baby onto it, it is my business!” He stared down at her, eyes blazing.

Zoe leaned back and watched with growing amusement as Mal and Inara argued at one and of the table and Simon and River tried, and failed, mostly, to have a calmer conversation at the other.

One of these days there was going to be a baby on Mal’s boat. Probably later rather than sooner, knowing just how slow Simon seemed to move on anything with regards to his relationship with Kaylee, but it would be a source of great amusement to Zoe when it finally happened.

Perhaps she and Jayne, and the Captain, when he was done arguing with Inara, should start a pool on when the first baby would arrive on Serenity. Eyeing Mal and Inara suspiciously, Zoe wondered briefly if it would be before or after a marriage proposal.

I like this story. It's refreshing to see River wanting S and K to have a baby before they even thought of it.

As per your last four chapters, you've handled the old saw of "Kaylee meeting the in-laws" in an interesting fashion.

If you're up to requests, could we see a chapter where Simon goes through the backdoor?

I love that River wants Kaylee and Simon to have a baby! And Mal and Inara arguing about whether or not he has any say is so cute. They should just do it and get it over with. I think it would be funny if Inara got pregnant, what would he have to say about babies on his boat then? Can't wait to see where you go with this!

I love River! I realize I sound like a broken record, but it's true. And I love River trying to get what she wants by going through Kaylee. That is priceless.

This is great! I love River wanting a baby and Simon being so nonplussed, and I really love Zoe's little speculation at the end- Mal and Inara having a baby first or Simon and Kaylee?

SILEESPACEMONKEYS

Hehehhehe...this is great!!!! MORE! But please don't fall into the category of "S/K have a baby out of marriage" because that seems to be EVERYONE'S thing w/the silee stories and I believe that Simon, at least, is smarter than that. Anyway, this is REALLY good. Sileespacemonkeys want more!!!!!!

I once read a an evolutionary theory correlating "play" behavior and intelligence. Basically once an animal gets so smart that survival doesn't require their full intellect, they begin to play...

I think we can assum that River's full intellect isn't being used for survival... And one of my favorite post-BDM story elements is a mischivious River.

This could get very interesting.

>But please don't fall into the category of "S/K have a baby out of marriage" because that seems to be EVERYONE'S thing w/the silee stories and I believe that Simon, at least, is smarter than that.

I feel the same way.

>I think we can assum that River's full intellect isn't being used for survival...

Oh, but it is. It's VERY important as the series progesses.

>and I really love Zoe's little speculation at the end- Mal and Inara having a baby first or Simon and Kaylee?

You'll have to wait and see. There's a lot of angst between this story and the arrival of a baby. Some of it, I anticipate, will upset a great many people.

Yay for wake-up sex (well, any sort of sex really)

River's such a brat, and you write her well that way. I can never get enough of her *hint hint*
