I don't know if anyone is still interested in getting a midi file of the theme, but I have made one. It lacks a bit of subtley, as I don't actually play an instrument; but I haven't found one better yet.

Anyone interested?

Will hyperlink shortly

Cheers!

That was pretty awesome! Aside from the lack of dynamic range inherent in midis, it was spot on! Thanks for sharing!

Kewl! I'm looking to get me a ringtone phone, and getting the Firefly theme, or Hero of Canton, would be exactly what i want!

Just d'loaded it. Excellent.

Not worried about the dynamic range (if I understand the term correctly), but how do I make the whole thing louder. My phone has the ringtone volume set to max but I doubt I would hear this if there's any background noise.

Eek! You got me there. Depending on what phone you use, there may well be software that is made for your particular model. My Nokia 3589i has an editor that comes with the software. Apart from that, I'll see if I can boost the volume with the composition software on which it was made. I'm not sure it will give me the option. This file was the first thing I composed, so I'm not yet overly familiar...

I fiddled with the tracks a bit, rescoring it some with Mrs Embassy, but now we have ringtones on our phones that let us show the world how shiny we are.

We're Sony Ericsson T68/T610 people, for what it's worth, and did the transfer via bluetooth off an Apple laptop.

Could this be for Macs only? I have a PC 3 GHz Intel 4 and I don't hear any sound.

^I couldn't get it to work under Windows Media Player for OSX, so make sure you're playing it with Quicktime or equivalent.

You of all people, is this a joke? :)

Works fine in media player here, under XP

I'm embarassed! I'm not sure how the file got junked, but it's back now.

I still think someone with more experience could do it better...seems as subtle as a mudside.

Cheers!

I think it is fine. Thank you. I have a Treo 650 and it doesn't do the fancy ringtones, but I can do midi ringtones so, there I am . I appreciate it.
Thanks much. :)
