Hey everyone, I found a Serenity Promo Sheet 8x10 autographed by Joss, Alan, Sean, Adam, Nathan, Ron, Summer, Moreana, and Jewel, paid $700 for it. Whadda think?

Its legit. Have a COA. The guy had to go to three cons to get it autographed.

yeah, it kinda sucks that Gina didn't sign it. I suppose I can hang on to it though;)

Anyone have any opinion if I paid too much for this? Did I get a good deal? Think its worth more? I'd appreciate the input.

HELL'S KITTEN

I think that's a lot of money, but I'm sure not one to throw stones. I've seen ones on eBay, signed by everyone, sell for upwards of $250 or so, but nothing that expensive. If it was worth it to you, that's all that should matter.

Just a word of friendly advice: never trust a COA. Anyone can forge one, so they're pretty much meaningless, unless they come from some big company like FOX or Universal.

Cheers.

I picked one up from eBay way back in 2002 for @ $100. Appears to be authentic, but I guess I'll never know for sure.

Also got one of Mal, personalized by Mr. Fillion, along with his 7-layer taco dip recipe. Quite tasty, actually.

ooo Can I get a copy of that recipe? I love 7 layer taco dip, and hot damn if I wouldn't love it made from a Fillion Family recipe! I hear those Fillion Fiesta's are a real blast. If only to be Mrs. Fillion so I could wear a sombrero and ride the burro like the rest of the family!

Did you get ripped off? As a collector of much crap, I have to say, an item is only worth it if it is something you couldn't live without. There have been too many times when I hemmed and hawed about something, didn't get it and regretted it for a very long long time. Personally, I couldn't bring myself to spend that, but I also have invested over $3,000 in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel trading cards, so I am no fine example of restraint. Hell I once paid $350 for a corset and I've worn it like 3 times. I would get it frame, and possibly insured and the next time you hear Gina is out, get your ass down there and get it autographed. Then someday in the future when you are flat broke and willing to part with such an item you can get for it nearly what you paid for it.

And if you have another $700 laying around could you pick me up a Serenity Trading Cards case of cards, I'll pay you back after I go through them. I promise ;)

Shoulda waited to get one of the SD Comic Con '04 ones with *all* of the BDH autographs, I reckon...and yeah, $750 is probably 3-4 times what most of them are going for...

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

Personally, I cherish the memories of meeting my Big Damn Heroes more than their signatures. Now, I absolutely adore all the autographs I've gotten from them (especially the ones on my Firefly set!), but I don't think I would pay $700 for them. I mean, what fun is a signature if you don't have a personal experience to match it up to?

But that's just my opinion. If you think it was worth it, then it was worth it.

258WESTAUTHENTIC

This is one of the reasons I started 258 West Authentic. Its so easy for people to print out pictures and do fake signitures and throw them up on ebay and print out a CoA. You never know 100% if its real or not. About being ripped off if you belive its real thats all that matters. There is no way to prove it one way other the other.

Yes, I probably would say you did get ripped off. For signed pictures the only thing I trust is to get it in person. It's more fun and you know the signature is good.

If you don't have any conventions in your area, another option is the Serentity trading cards. The entire cast from firefly is signing. I trust the signature on the autograph cards more than signed cast photo. The cards come out I think on September 22. If you go to EBAY and do a search Serenity & trading cards, presell should come up if you want to buy a box or case. For under $700, you could have gotten a whole case with money left over. Each box of sealed cards is guaranteed an autograph and a custume card, how shiny is that. Any duplicates or extras, you can either sell on EBAY or trade with other card collectors. I would suggest becoming a card member at Non Sports Update, it's free and allows you to trade with other members. You can't sell your cards without becoming a paid advertiser. Or another option is to wait for the cards to come out and buy the autographs individually. I have 3 boxes on order myself and will probably pick up another 1 or 2. They have a very nice serentity binder. Check out INKWORKS website for pictures of the regular cards, autograph cards, custume cards and chase cards.

$700? Blimey. I'm going to get Sean's signature in November to complete my set (although I have Joss's signature on the one sheet, not the box set) of Joss, Nathan, Sean, Alan, Ron, Adam, Gina, Morena, Summer, Jewel, Chris Buchanan, Christina (Saffron) Hendricks and Mark (Badger) Sheppard.

Now, if only I could track down the guy who played Niska...

Hi:
I'm not sure if you got ripped off, I'd have to see the signatures- I have the same one with the big logo on top and all of them standing and looking cool at the bottom. I know mine's legit- got it from Nathan. There's some Mal lithographs on eBay now if you want to bid- four to choose from-cool too. And I can get Nathan to post that they are really signed by him on the Serenity Movie site. p.s. $700 bucks seams steep but if this thing takes off- you're in the money$ p.p.s. you've made me rethink my opening bid amount- but it'll stay the same.

Assuming the signatures are authentic, it's still too soon to put a value on them, if what you're thinking is resale value.

Obviously it's worth it to you, since you paid it, and that's what really matters.

I'm 52, and I have a long list things I wish I'd bought when I had the opportunity. I'm sure I paid too much for a lot of things, but those are not the ones that haunt me when I'm trying to get to sleep, it's the ones that got away.

Don't know if this is the same one, but it's from the Browncoat Handbook:

Nathan's Super Secret Low-Fat Space Bean Dip
Get yourself a casserole pan or some such big,
flat container.
Layer 1: 1 large can of refried beans (they
are already 99% fat free).
Layer 2: Approx. 1 ½ cups salsa (canned or jar)
mixed with 2 soft, ripe avocados. Mush your
avocados first, it will be easier to mix.
Layer 3: Mix a package of TACO SEASON-
ING into a medium container of low fat sour
cream.
Layer 4: 4 tomatoes, diced.
Layer 5: One small can of diced green chiles.
NOT JALAPENOS!! TRUST ME!!
Layer 6: One small can of diced black olives.
Layer 7: SHREDDED cheese - I use the bag
of pre-shredded, four Mexican cheeses.
DON'T FORGET, BROWNCOATS:
This is a hearty dip that requires a sturdy
tortilla chip, and will have you "repeating" the
next day. Don't say I didn't warn you!
