Only asking!

Just that most people buy these things to keep rather than just to watch. No problem at all, it's your dog Charlie Brown!

Whoa, there, Browncoats! Here's the 'Cyte, jumping in (recently traumatized by the "music videos" thread, and hopefully not WAY out of line here). Lest we get all tetchy, this looks like one of those misunderstandings borne of the inability to convey subtle tones of irony and friendly-like-pseudo-mocking through text.

I think it's grand to want to share the wealth, and tide over fans till the official set comes out. Further, I think that anyone who goes to the trouble to produce sets of such tindings-over should be sent a crate of fresh strawberries forthwith. And a crate for good measure to them as pass them along (I for one, bought two sets from TRS80, so's I could have a loaner on hand).

We will rise again...'long as we rise TOGETHER!

Keep flyin,' mates!

Don't worry about it 'Cyte :)

I'm guessing he's probably had as bad a day as I've had and he's just venting. I just read back all our previous emails and we had good chats, so I dunno what's up. Doesn't matter anyway, life's too short to let things like this bother you.

Not long until we get FF on SciFi here, including the unaired eps (apparently!!) so I'm pretty psyched up about it. Also looking forward to seeing Sliders from the beginning as we lost touch with it in the middle of season 2 and haven't seen it since then.

You're talking about having a set for a loaner... how does that work?? I'm happy to lend my set out - will I ever get it back? :)

**Happily releasing worries. There they go. 'Bye, worries!**

Ah, so you're one of the shiny UK Browncoats! Color me envious! Hoping those unaired eps make it to a fannish DVD set (insurance against delays in the official set, y'know), if that's not too unsubtle a hint

Kinda lost touch with Sliders m'self. I found it uneven, ranging wildly between brilliant and agonizingly hokey. But that's just MHO. I'll probably check out the disks, though, just to see what I missed when I stopped watching (pretty early in the show's run, with occasional checkings-in).

Actually, I bought the loaner set for local converts-to-be, but I'm afraid I've been something of a voice in the wilderness hereabouts. I suppose longer-distance loans are an option, though I've had no takers. As for getting them back, I have faith in my fellow Browncoats to hold up their ends, should the occasion arise...and since it's a second set, I would not be deprived in the interim. As for postage, I imagine it would be pretty minor, and would only ask for recompense if loans became relatively frequent, or if there were international requests. Hey, whatever it takes to bring folks into the fold!

Ta, and, of course, Keep flyin'!!

Well, this could be the stumbling point.... I'm in the UK, so posting to the USA from the UK (including loss or damage insurance) is £7 GBP which is.... around $11.50 I think.

As long as I'm not going to be out for postage fees I'm happy to create a loaner set complete with the cover, label art, quad case etc. BUT... how can anyone guarantee that they'll pass it on to someone else and not just keep it for themselves?

There'd have to be a thread created whereby people register their interest... then whoever has the current set sends it to the next person on the list and so on. The receiver would have to cover the costs to the sender though so no-one loses out (except me I guess for the discs etc for the original, but that's cool!)

How about it then?

Hey, any of you guys considering buying a set from MarkuzR -- Do it! Do it now!!

I just got mine and man is it ever shiny! Killer graphics on the case and discs. The audio and video are mint, and the first disc also has some cool extras.

Thanks Mark! You are indeed a worthy successor to TRS80.

Didn't someone around here take over for Trs80? Well, if so, that's the guy you'll want to talk to. If no one is mass producing DVD's at the moment, I'm sure somebody can sell you a copy of their's.

And by the way, is anyone going to be making a DVD of the unaired episodes as soon as they air overseas? Maybe our combined pestering can get Trs80 out of retirement.

I just today got my set from MarkuzR and... well, the only word I can come up with is 'Wow'.

I can't compare them to TRS80's, but given that TRS isn't making them any more, it's not that big a loss ;)

PowerDVD doesn't like Mark's menus, but otherwise the whole thing is exquisite, from the box to the labeling to the quality itself.

I'll also commend Mark's honor. The above-mentioned downside bit us - namely, the shipping. The first set he sent seems to have fallen out of the plane somewhere over the mid-Atlantic. At no cost to me he put another set in the mail, when the first one failed to arrive in time for the friend's birthday I had requested them for.

The cost isn't minor, but isn't any more than you'd pay for them for-real. If you're looking for Firefly, his set is as good as any you'll find.

Hi all!

OK... in the last week or so I've had three emails asking me for DVD sets and had to turn them away so I thought I'd better make an announcement here so I don't disappoint anyone else!

As much as it pains me to say it, I can't help anyone else out with FF DVD sets. I was contacted by the MPAA who asked that I cease from selling them. It wasn't a nasty letter, it was more a polite request but I think it would get nasty if I didn't comply with their request so I did in fact stop making the sets.

I only got as far as three sets, two of which to people on here (and thanks for the amazing feedback from both, it's appreciated!!) and one which was a private sale to a friend. I had literally just finished making complete motion-menus and episode leadins to the set when I got the letter, so no-one will get to see my finished masterpiece! :(

There are still sets being sold on eBay but I guess they're not really bothering about them for some reason. Perhaps they singled me out because I put so much effort into the menus and packaging, I dunno.

Either way, I can no longer provide them. Really sorry!

I have only just joined this board, as in the U.K. we have only recently shown Firefly on the Sci-Fi channel. Having said that, I would love to get hold of a set of either DVD's or vids. Doesn't matter if it's sent from the US, cos my DVD player and VCR are both multi region.

Any help gratefully appreciated!
