After some serious hunting (and a pretty penny) I got my hands on a few knives just like Jayne used on Firefly and Serenity.

Anyone want one? I got three on eBay now.

You can also get this knife with the custom made sheath for the same price, including US shipping, from SerenityGear.com (my site).

Better yet, call up Smokey Mountain Knifeworks at (800) 251-9306 and tell them you want a Rough Rider Brand Patrick Henry Commemorative Bowie Knife, manufacturere's number RR-225 and you should be able to get one for about $35 with the shipping. As of last week, they said they had a pretty good supply despite the knife not being listed on their website.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks for the info Griffin. I thought that $99.00 was a tad high.

Yes, thanks Griffin! Always nice to see a new source out there.

Supply and demand is a funny thing. I picked a price based on what I'd seen the same thing sell for on eBay over the last couple months... I see even Griffin's sold one of his knife-and-sheath sets for over $200.

Anyhow, now that a new source opens up, the price drops for a while - great for everybody! When Smoky sells out and they get scarce on the ground again it'll rise. Them's the breaks.

True enough, of course I let the market set the price and my starting bid was still under $100 INCLUDING the custom sheath. Since I'm the one who identified the knife to begin with, that was the first knife and custom sheath ever offered on eBay and I think folks may have got a bit overexcited about it. I was pretty shocked by the final bid myself (which I hope was more because of my leatherwork than the knife).

Ebay is an interesting creature! I've sold several of my military dogtag sets which are $8.75 on my website on ebay for over $20.00, yet sometimes my necklaces, which sell like hotcakes on my site don't even get bids (which is why you don't see them on there often!).

Your leatherwork looks to be top-quality, and you even have me considering one, which since I'm a non-hunting girl who would never, ever use it (and isn't even that much of a Jayne fan!) is really something. You do nice work and the winning bidder got a good value:)
