My Fighting Elves Tee Is Starting to Disintegrate...

Howdy all! It's been a while since I've posted, but I'm in dire straights. 5 or 6 years ago, I bought a shiny, and very accurate Fighting Elves Tee, and I seem to remember hooking up with the seller through the trading post.

It wasn't like the go-se on cafe press or zazzle, it was a very nice logo, and it was on a burnt orange 100% cotton tee. Anyone remember who was selling them? And more importantly, can I still get one?!?

I'll be devastated if I can't go through this 'Verse without a fighting elves t-shirt! Does that seem right to you?

If you can't find a new tee, how do you feel about patching up what's left of your old one (find someone who can sew if you can't) or cut the logo off and applique it to a new t-shirt.That's what I do with my old tees. Also hand wash it from now on if you don't already it will last longer. :-)

I have one of those shirts. I'm pretty sure it was bluesunshirts.com, as you mentioned. I wear it sparingly, because, like you, I fear it is irreplaceable. I have a cool independents distressed flag shirt from bluemoonstuff.com that is probably my favorite shirt. You should check that one out. (Addendum: doh! They are closed, too! You'll have to send him an email for the pic)

Boris: Interesting idea about salvaging shirts. How well does it work? How do you do it, exactly?

if the logo is ok I carefully cut it out and then I applique it on (stitch it on like a patch). or alternatively I add what's left of the old T to a new one, or I cut up a new t-shirt to patch up holes in an old one. If I really love a tshirt I hand wash it to save washing machine wear and tear.

This has to be one of the most fun pieces of Firefly swag out there,
and until QMx started (slowly) releasing theirs,
no official license holder was jumping on this!

There have been 9 Jayne shirts replicated by fans
(and maybe a couple more on Cafepress)
and a number of them were put out of production by the Universal C&D assault of a few years ago.

I have:
Top, Left to Right
1.__Yellow Troublemaker__ssdesigner
2.__Cartoon Cat and Bear__Kurtyboy (needs dyed to a light tan)
3.__TV Smoking Girl__Kurtyboy
4.__TV Blue Sun__Blue Moon
5.__Fighting Elves__Blue Sun Shirts
Bottom, Left to Right
6.__Soldier__Chewbaccadoll
7.__Talking Head__ssdesigner
8.__Pin Up Girl__Lilac Trading Station
9.__Perfect Cat__Kurtyboy

I'd like:
the orange Dead Fish from the BDM and
the TV Water (looks-like-beetle-on-the-shoulder) in olive drab.
As a note, Kurtyboy's shirts are available through Cafepress and are excellent.
Lilac Trading Station and Blue Sun Shirts were driven out of business
by the the C&D attack of a few years ago.
Blue Moon is still up, but at reduced inventory; but will sometimes do requests.
The licensed Blue Suns aren't screen accurate; they are the "corrected" lettering.
Ssdesigner produces shirts irregularly;
the yellow Troublemaker is beautiful, the Talking Head graphic is wearing off a bit on mine,
(but I wear them a LOT!)
The chewbaccadoll Soldier shirt is nice; they felt light when I got them
but "heavied-up" after I washed them (I don't know, that's what it seemed like to me...)

So, I hope the Dead Fish and Water shirts are next.
Any official license holders listening?

QMx has all the original graphics files for both TV Firefly Jayne shirts and the BDM Jayne shirts.
I've suggested to them that they release a new shirt on a quarterly basis,
but that request/suggestion has fallen on deaf ears.
I don't know how well their release of the yellow BDM "Troublemaker" Tee went,
but I would think it should have been a big seller.

Oh yeah, I wash my T-shirts inside out and hang them up to dry.
Five years and most of them are still nice.
And I wear almost nothing but my Firefly/Serenity T-shirts.

I forgot to add, nice shirt collection! I have a few myself. I have the Fighting Elves, a Courage t-shirt, 3 Blue Suns (The TV show version from Blue Moon, and 1 black tee, and another khaki of the revised Blue Sun logo. I also have an Independents distressed tee from Blue Moon again, and a Firefly shirt I picked up on ThinkGeek.com.

I love wearing my Firefly shirts...It's even better when someone recognizes what they are!
