Oh he's definately a browncoat now. I got him hooked, so now he's going to be modelling Serenity for me for an upcoming game mod. Which, of course, will feature music from the tv show.

What? You didn't think I recorded every bit of music from the show just to let it sit on some server... did you?

EmpressPirk, your mp3's are ready. Unfortunately (but not suprisingly), the server's down. So, you'll have to wait another day until you download them. But, they'll be located here:

http://www.nightsoft.net/sneaker98/OisRiversPlan02.mp3

As an extra note, I can't believe that I hadn't recorded the FadeAway song previously... it has such a beautiful violin riff.

Shiny, I got no problem with waiting a few days/weeks (referring to BDM which is still 207 days away).

Thank you, Sneaker98. Again, you are too kind.

Seriously, I after reading the server being located in Florida has something to do with it being down so often lately my wanting the server to be back up seems rather petty. Hope the folks thereabouts are doing ok.

That it has but I've also been fascinated by the River/Simon relationship very early on so...yeah, I love that little piece, love the whole episode.

Did any of those include the opening music/sound effects from the menu and pre-menu on the DVD? (IE: that cool theme while it's scrolling the characters on the DVD menu, and when it pops up the Home/Play/Scene Selection/Language Selection menu)

Would be much appreciated!

Dear Sneaker98,
I realize it's been a while since you posted these mp3's. I recently downloaded the bolded mp3's (your favorites) and really enjoy listening to them on my iPod. I'd love to get the rest so that I can create a compilation of firefly music for my friends. The problme is that in the last few days I've been unable to download the files.

I realize you've been hosting them for a month, and I don't want to appear ungreatful, but..."now I need you to carry me just a little bit further...if you can". If it's possible for you to put those mp3's back online so I could access them, I'd really appreciate it. The music is just so wonderful, and you're the only guy on the internet who seems to be hosting these files.

Thanks,

Asa

P.S. If anyone else is hosting a mirror of these files, feel free to reply

Sorry, I didn't read the entire thread before I posted. I found Hardy's mirror (at http://beam.to/firefly/download.html), but he only had a few of the mp3's from each episode. I'm still very interesting in getting all of sneaker98's originals. If you can put the server back up I'd appreciate it. I'll be gone much of this weekend, but I'll check again friday night and sunday night.

The server was up this afternoon for a moment. I got very excited, but by the time I went back and started downloading files, it was down again. So it seems that it is fluctuating up and down; I'm not sure why.

As I replied to Asa:

Asa,

If it were up to me, the server would be up 24/7. I spent many many weeks putting those Mp3's together, and I want to have others enjoy them as much as I do. Unfortunately, the server is not in my hands. I really have no idea as to why it fluctuates on and off so often, but I have been trying to find alternatives. Cash and personal spare time hinder the process... but, some day soon, I will have an alternative.

For now, some of the Mp3's can be downloaded here: http://beam.to/firefly/download.html . Not all of them are available, though... even though I did give permission for them all to be uploaded.

I'll get back to you on it with some good news, I promise.

-sneaker98

I'm sorry, folks. Ever since the hurricanes, the server has been completely unreliable. I have not been able to contact the owner of the server for an explanation, but since I have the space for free there's not much I can say. I'm thinking of just setting up a Tomcat websever on my own machine; it certainly has the power and the connection to do it.

I have a question on the music from above, does anybody know this music? and where it`s from? not to give too much away but it did also feature in a screening (temp music) - thanks, that would be great.

It's from the original pilot, the one they showed to Fox execs who then decided to pick up the series. Greg Edmonson came aboard later and did another score for Serenity and that's the score on the DVD.

They used it in the screening? Cool. Not that don't like Greg's score but I kinda like that particular piece. Shows Mal's contempt for the Alliance nicely.

Sorry, I should clarrify - I know it`s from the original pilot, it`s also featured in the screening, but where is it originally from? - they take music from other shows/films to create the temporary scores.

I`m sure I heard this music form somewhere else previous to firefly.

Cheers!

Sneaker98, I just wanted to thank you for doing the mp3's! It's something I should have done some time ago. I downloaded the mp3's over a week's time working for half an hour at a time at 4 am. (No trouble downloading at that ungodly hour.) I put them on my iPod, joining other favorites like Weird Al, They Might Be Giants, Dr. Demento, Mozart and many more. Shortly, I found myself not listening to all my old favorites, living only for the Firefly clips, no matter how brief. Just this week, I finally made a Firefly playlist, and now I'm Fireflyin' all the 65 miles to work and then back again. Now, along with your mp3's, I have added the San Diego Comic Con panel, two podcasts, and an interview with Jewel Staite. It's just nuts how obsessed I am!

So, thanks again. It makes my thankless teaching job bearable, fun even. This afternoon, I entered grades into the computer while listening to all the BDH's, the music, the sound effects, and delicious bits from all the episodes. Made a dreary job shiny!

I skimmed most of this tread to see that your server, Sneaker, goes down from time to time. I hope that this is one of those cases. I as I have been looking for some high-quality soundclips from Firefly...and from what i have read here, you seem to have done a good job. :) Now I want to check these things out!...but alas, it seems the server is having one of its hiccups again. I hope thats all it is and that the server hasn't gone, POOF!. But either way, I was wondering if someone had some web space to share all these out, or if someone already has, what the link to it is? This is an amazing collection and I cant wait to hear it. Thanks for all the hard work Sneaker

Depends on the quality of your source audio and what format your are encoding in. I use CoolEditPro for all my audio editing and encoding. I make MP3s at CBR 256Kbps 48Hz (not an expert but these settings work well for me) and they play nicely in my cars MP3 player. Just as easy to make CD audio though.
