I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

The problem isn't "getting together" ... people naturally "get together" .. safety, advancing use of energy sources, division of labor, all impel people to "get together". That's one thing constant about people: always found in groups. And having been perhaps self-domesticated for a hundred-thousand years or more, perhaps even MORE likely now to tolerate/ prefer large groups than ever before.

The problem is that once all of those surplus resources are developed, how do you prevent internal parasitism/ predation from occurring? I don't think that the parasitism/ predation occurs just because of "power structures" (if by power structures you mean application of superior force to "make" people do what you want.)

How does a new meme, a new mythology, prevent a Bill Gates or a Rothchilds family? Most "power structures" are hidden nowadays, or coated with iPhones and other sweeteners. Your meme or mythology would have to be very alert to the concentration of resources, and it would have to last for generations and generations.

You can't build a nation with bombs. You can't create a society with guns.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Thank you both for your replies.

It'll be some time before I reply in detail, though.

SAGAN: We are releasing vast quantities of carbon dioxide, increasing the greenhouse effect. It may not take much to destabilize the Earth's climate, to convert this heaven, our only home in the cosmos, into a kind of hell.
