One-hour special from Funny Or Die to hit streaming service in February

Hulu inked an exclusive deal for “Triumph’s Election Special 2016,” featuring Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, from digital comedy studio Funny Or Die.

The Triumph character was created by Conan O’Brien and Robert Smigel, who is the voice of the foul-mouthed, cigar-chomping canine wiseass that first appeared on NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”

The one-hour special will be available to Hulu subscribers beginning in early February. In “Triumph’s Election Special 2016,” Hulu’s first partnership with Funny Or Die, Triumph hits the presidential campaign trail, traveling to Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina to crash campaign events and mock the media’s thirst for controversy. Triumph has already visited a Democratic debate and a Tea Party convention, as well as a string of Ted Cruz bus appearances.

“A quote? I don’t have time for this s–t,” Triumph said in a prepared statement.

“Triumph’s Election Special 2016” is executive produced by Robert Smigel, Conan O’Brien, Charlie Siskel, and Funny Or Die’s Mike Farah and Anna Wenger.

Funny Or Die has tilled the political soil for material before, most notably with Zach Galifianakis’ “Between Two Ferns.” Funny Or Die was founded by CAA, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy; Judd Apatow also is a principal partner. The company’s investors include Time Warner and Sequoia Capital.

I love Triumph!

Any of you guys ever watch TV Funhouse back in the day on Comedy Central?

Only 6 episodes in 2001.

Watching it now, 15 years later, it is like watching the last funny thing that happened before Everything Changed...

I watched all 6 episodes about 3 months ago and that's what I couldn't help thinking. Just hearing the first two lines of that theme song made me smile like I was a little kid hearing a the theme song of some old show they heard when they were barely out of diapers. I know the harmony was great on that song, but I was 20 years old when that show came out. Just hearing that theme song shouldn't have made me that happy, but I turned 21 just two weeks before 9/11....

I'm glad Triumph is still funny all these years later. :)

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I cringed when I watched the bit on safe spaces and micro-aggressions. Watching those young people maneuver around describing a black man by his most salient features to a "sketch artist" was ... painful.

"Outgoing"?

Really?
