This is just for G, it will be meaningless to most everyone else.

THIS IS THE ARTICLE THAT GSTRING THOUGHT WAS "MORE OBJECTIVE"

http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=60278&p=4

ARTICLE
Quote:

The best summation piece so far imho - a better, more objective pov:

http://www.spectator.co.uk/2016/02/putins-winning-in-syria-but-making-
a-powerful-new-enemy/

Russia’s bombing of the city of Aleppo this week sent a clear message: Vladimir Putin is now in charge of the endgame in Syria. Moscow’s plan — essentially, to restore its ally Bashar al-Assad to power — is quickly becoming a reality that the rest of the world will have to accept. America, Britain and the rest may not be comfortable with Putin’s ambitions in the Middle East, or his methods of achieving them. But the idea of backing a ‘moderate opposition’ in Syria has been proved a fantasy that leaves the field to Putin and Assad.

I have referred to "the rebels" in quotes, and as "so-called moderate rebels" because the ranks of the ACTUAL PRO-DEMOCRACY SYRIAN rebels are very thin. I have referred to "the rebels'" defections to al Nusra and ISIL, their hand-over of USA-supplied weapons to terrorist groups, and their alliances/temporary truces with extremists to indicate that "the rebels" are militarily impotent, ideologically suspect, and often fully-infiltrated with foreign jihadists. I have said

Quote:

But I see that you keep making the mistake in thinking that "the rebels" are some sort of universally holy pro-democracy force. The reality is that there are SOME that tried to fight a two-front war- against both government forces and ISIL, but they're few and far between, and many of the various rebel factions have openly allied themselves with various foreign terrorist organizations.

In other words, AS A PRO-DEMOCRACY FIGHTING FORCE THEY ARE A FANTASY. It's nice to see that the article that GSTRING promotes as being "more objective" finally acknowledges that fact. GSTRING'S response to the same facts, when I say it:

Quote:

GSTRING: "She builds her arguments from bricks made of shit...." Has a ring to it - carry on...

ARTICLE
Quote:

Presidents Putin and Obama have both sought to intervene in the conflict militarily, but all the successes have been Russia’s.

Another fact that I've been saying all along. GSTRING, however, keeps hoping that Syria is a quagmire which will trap Russia. According to GSTRING ...

Quote:

the only thing worth noticing was the suggestion that Russia isn't in Syria because they want to be, but because the US out foxed him and made him go. So poor puny Putin had no power to protect himself from our powers of persuasion as we pulled him by the schoz into the mire that is syria that is quag?

BACK TO THE ARTICLE
Quote:

Putin is also seeking to reconcile Syria’s warring factions. While the Pentagon spent billions trying to train an army of democracy–friendly moderates which turned out not to exist,
Just pointing that out again. Russia has been aiming for a POLITICAL solution all along. They have said so time and time again. But since the three stooges don't like to read Russian press, that fact has escaped them.

GSTING'S TAKE ON THIS?
Quote:

3rd time - What again is Russia's gain from all this? Loosing billions worth of business with Turkey? Propping up a hated "dictator?" More dead Russians? More dead civilians?
Maybe Russia is looking for a unified, democratic, secular Syria?

ARTICLE

Quote:

The danger is that Russia’s overtures to the Kurds could put Moscow on a direct collision course with the Turks. ... Last week, Turkey’s army — the second largest in Nato — backed up Erdogan’s words by shelling YPG positions from across the frontier, ostensibly in self-defence. Moreover, Erdogan recently said that a Turkish-US buffer zone mooted for northern Iraq in 2003 would have preserved Iraq from its current problems with Isis. Erdogan added that he saw no need ‘currently’ for a similar buffer zone in northern Syria — but said that the Turkish military had all the parliamentary authority it needed to create one if the order was given.

More worryingly, Putin and Assad have accused the Turkish army of running weapons to Ankara-backed rebel groups deep inside Syrian territory

The only "rebels groups deep inside Syrian territory" is ISIL. The article blurs that point. However, I've been saying throughout the thread that Turkey is supporting ISIL.

GSTRING'S RESPONSE:
Quote:

I avoid those long posts because I know from experience that what you have to say is just not worth that much time.

ARTICLE
Quote:

But it’s worth asking the question: if Assad wins decisively, and peace breaks out, is Putin’s plan so terrible? Washington and Moscow want many of the same things: an end to hostilities on the ground, the destruction of radical Islamist groups such as Isis and the Al-Nusra Front, the establishment of a transitional government and, eventually, free elections. Even the Americans are willing to fudge on a key rebel demand — that Assad, personally, be removed from power. They agree that he could at least stay for a transitional period.

I agree that these are Russia's plans, I'm not so sure what the American goals are, since we seem to have achieved failed states crawling with jihadists four times out of four.

GSTRING'S responses

Quote:

But you keep lying to yourself and twisting or purposely misunderstanding my words if it makes you feel more secure.
----

you made a grandiose horse-sh*t statement that you couldn't back up:
-----

It's pretty obvious you studied at the Sniggles school of (all too obvious) misdirection.
------

It's going to be great to see how you twist my words to make your point!
---

I'm guessing she needs more time to help her grand daughter's tshirt shop pull up from a nose diving economy.

It's interesting GSTRING, but when I look through your posts, what I see time after time is personal invective. You almost never address issues. I don't have to distort what you say because you do a pretty good job of doing that all on your own: You're a troll.

I guess you and THGUR are just like TRUMP in that way! Congrats! I hope you plan on voting for him.

THUGR deserves a thread of his own, because he's another troll. I'm a little busy right now, but at some point, someone (possibly me) will post a compilation of THGUR's Great Thoughts.

Sig's not leaving, as I said in a thread just for you. http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=60419

Hmmm... you can't think, you can't read (as evidenced by your poor comprehension of what I wrote), you have no memory, and apparently you can't see because you didn't see that thread, which is just for you.

Or maybe you're a liar? Or a troll?

If anyone follows that thread link they will find you again to be the liar. I posted a reply hours before you posted what I quote from you here.

If you need help packing ask 1kiki. She can leave with you. Safe trip...

Because you don't address topics. Nope, everything you post is personal insult. You are the definition of a troll.

Below is something you just posted to someone else who posts here. And you suggest I am the one who conducts personal attacks. I've said it before and I'll say it again now. You and SIG are complete assholes.

By the way, it should be ( is a personal insult )

Let's see. You're angry because - even though you haven't bothered with the news coming out of Turkey in YEARS - you THINK Russia MIGHT have had something to do with Erdogan taking over a critical newspaper? THAT'S the source of your rage against evil?

Sounds pretty insane - oh, and inane, ignorant, and poor white trash-y - to me.

BTW, I'm not criticizing your family. No, it's directed at you personally because you're the asshole human you claim to be better than. And, don't fool yourself into thinking that your family doesn't know about this side of you. Believe me, people know. Even if you think you're doing a great job hiding it.

I just feel sorry for them. Jeez, no wonder your husband disappears into video games. He's trying to get away from you.

Packed your bags yet comrade troll???
