Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Interesting. Thanks for the post.

SAGAN: We are releasing vast quantities of carbon dioxide, increasing the greenhouse effect. It may not take much to destabilize the Earth's climate, to convert this heaven, our only home in the cosmos, into a kind of hell.

Thinking about it further, it seems weird that nobody else in history has been aware that all Mayan cities were laid out in perfect copycat of the positions of stars.
Not including the Mayans in "recorded history" because, obviously they must have known. Or did they?

Wondering about this, has any fanfic simulated a template like this, where an entire civilization's cities are oriented and mapped the same as constellations of stars?

And how many believe that these precise mappings are done by the Mayans themselves, all alone? Did they have the technology? If they had help or direction, from whom?

The Mayans thrived in Central America from about 750BC to 1697AD.
