Do you remember the female Ukrainian pilot that the Russians took prisoner, tried, and then exchanged for two Russians?

Here is a long, Ukrainian-sourced video of her welcome back to Kiev by Poroshenko. In it are long, extended views of Shavchenko. Watching her is awful.

Is she in extreme pain? On drugs? Spastic? Crazy? Some combination?

I love how you cannot control yourself SIG and post things here that show you to be the sick hateful bitch you are. You are attacking a women who was just a prisoner of war held by the Russians, without warning, upon her release thrown in front of television cameras. Paraded out as a symbol of strength for the Ukrainian people without even a chance to catch her breath.

You really are a Russia whack job.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Despite the glower that looks deeply hate-filled, I don't think she was there against her will - just heavily drugged, and mustering all her resources to get through the event no matter what. But putting her there in that state, without a podium to hang on to, or hide behind, that was pointlessly mean.

ETA: Unless she insisted on it, to show she was still fit and a credit to her nation. (No, I don't understand those mental equations, but I think they do exist.) It's not just men who can be macho for stupid reasons.

Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. And whether you do that in the news, in discussion, in debate or in opinion, when you distort the facts, you've changed the nature of your communication into propaganda. But WE don't have any of THAT in the US, do we?!

That's what stifling a mental scream looks like. I look like that a couple times a day....

I'm sure it's hard to give a speech that you clearly are being forced to give and being told what to say by someone who would rather slit her wrists than give a speech in front of people.

Girls who look like she do, they don't like attention.

"Put your psychiatric/ neurologic diagnostics to work!"

Ok, here's something about THETHREESTOOGES:

If you have siblings, you no doubt harbor a hint of the sadist; who hasn't delighted in getting the occasional rise out of a younger brother by petting his cat after he ordered you not to do so? (To take one, ahem, utterly fictional example that is not in any way drawn from my childhood.) But your run-of-the-mill backseat pokers, hair pullers, and forbidden cat petters don't generally grow up to spend large portions of their time harassing total strangers on the Internet in search of "lulz." They don't, in other words, turn into Internet trolls.

That's because the true troll has a lot more of the sadist hidden deep inside than you do, gentle reader—at least according to a new study, "Trolls just want to have fun," which appeared in the academic journal Personal and Individual Differences. The Canadian researchers behind the study conclude that "online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists... For those with sadistic personalities, [their] ideal self may be a villain of chaos and mayhem—the online Trickster we fear, envy, and love to hate: the cyber-troll."

Between the fast breathing, mouth opening and closing, stretching, and the occasional glower at Poroshenko ("Get ON with it you effing windbag!) she looked to me like a very VERY uncomfortable woman.

Once she started speaking she looked more "together" but I noticed they hustled her offstage pretty quickly. I think it was physical pain or perhaps extreme lack of sleep.

And Sadist? Too funny. I was actually going to edit my post to add - "Now we've discovered another character trait of Signym: sadism." Clearly Signym is delighting in Savchecnko's discomfort. I imagine Signym hunched over, wringing her hands and licking her lips, playing the video over and over. Just as T. said - a sick Russian Troll. I think she's jealous of Savchecnko for getting attention.
Clearly, you're listening to the voices in your head. Again.

The vid was pointed out to me by someone who said that Savchenko is a psychopathic Nazi, but when I looked at it I saw something different. I also went to other vids of Savchenko where she's a lot more normal. And - speaking of sadism - despite the fact that people have reported that Savchenko tortured them when they were prisoners ....

... it's hard not to feel a twinge of sympathy for someone so clearly suffering from ... something. Back pain, maybe.

If Ukraine had any concerns over Savchenko's condition, it hasn't turned up on a google search. So much for that canard.

OTOH since the Russians returned in the swap were unnamed, it's hard to look up their condition.

She was an army aviation (primarily support) helicopter pilot for Ukraine. Somehow, in 2014 she was captured by separatists who then handed her over to Russia. As best I can tell, she achieved fame by going on a hunger strike (or perhaps a few) during the nearly 2 years she was a prisoner.

In 2014 she was voted into Ukraine's Rada (parliament) as a member of the All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland" or Batkivschina party while still a prisoner. She formally resigned her army post at that time.

The reason why I thought she was on drugs - aka medications - is because she didn't seem to have the presence of mind to be socially appropriate. She glowered at the audience and at times at Poroshenko. She leaned back and stared at the ceiling. She looked around. She shifted. Sometimes she clenched and unclenched her hands. She acted as if no one could see her. What she was doing was uncensored. And, her breathing was badly timed with her speech - she seemed to run out of air at times. Her movements were large, loopy, and sloppy. But mostly, she couldn't manage a socially appropriate demeanor for a short, laudatory ceremony. I think you have to be pretty out of it to be like that.

No, because subsequent videos of her in the Rada show a normally behaving person. And brain damage tends to be permanent. My hypothesis - which I've repeated twice, and which you've been unable to read - IS THAT SHE WAS ON SOME MEDICATION(S) which caused her unusual behaviors.

I put it in CAPS to help you focus.

But yes, things happen. Sometimes temporary things. Sometimes permanent things. Just because she was a well-functioning pilot in the past doesn't mean things couldn't have happened to her to change the way she functioned. You must be really, really stupid to not understand that. Too bad stupid is permanent.

RAHLMACLAREN

"Damn yokels, can't even tell a transport ship ain't got no guns on it." - Jayne Cobb

HOLLOW, NIT PICKY SPECULATION.

The reasons for her behavior and attitude could be even more mundane than evil or drugged:

[The only English I saw in the YT comments section was a couple of pro-Russia and pro-Ukraine people telling each other to fuck off (this right here tells me this war is based on not much more than the equivalent of Dems vs Repubs, but with deadly weaponry. Stupid. Pointless.), so I have no idea of the context of the video. Anyone who doesn't understand Ukrainian fluently, doesn't know either.]

Pain - Already been mentioned.

PTSD - Wasn't she in a war? She could have seen some major shit.

Nervous - Could be that she's not really into public speaking. Unless she has a teleprompter, she's totally winging it. And I don't think it was really that bad. I took that "running out of air" bit as a pointed sigh of frustration and emphasis. What's the size of the crowd (behind the camera)? Is she a theater vet who's used to being in front of people?

Bored - Looking around at the interior architecture. How tall is the ceiling? Is it the nicest looking building she's ever been in? Maybe since she was a POW, she habitually checks out all possible exits and escape routes.

Blur - The poor video quality most of the time makes it hard to see her true countenance. When her face is a watercolor, it's open to false interpretation.

Annoyed - Get on with it already! Maybe she's impatient by nature and is trying to pull a George Costanza to go home early.

In November 2014, while still imprisoned, Savchenko was elected to the Verkhovna Rada in the 2014 Ukrainian parliamentary election, and she formally resigned from her military post.

Technically she wasn't a POW, though none of the sources I looked at mentioned exactly how she was captured. Her trial was for murder in Russian civil (non-military) court.

But to explain why I posted this ... the vid was pointed out to me. When I watched it, I was horrified. But aside from being horrified, I didn't know how to react.

Was the horror that Savchenko was a rabid psychopath, and that Kiev was using her as a rallying symbol for its govt? In that case, Savchenko should be locked up (again) along with Poroshenko.

Was the horror that Savchenko was at her physical end, and that Poroshenko had her propped up in front of the cameras? In that case, Savchencko should be given a cup of hot chocolate and tucked into bed for a long, healing rest. And Poroshenko should be jailed.

Or was the situation something in-between? Or was it something else?

It was real-world awful, but hard to interpret.

Hero's welcome for Ukraine pilot Nadiya Savchenko after Russian Federation prisoner swap

On May 25, Ukrainian pilot-turned-MP Nadiya Savchenko, who was illegally held in Russia for nearly two years, was released and exchanged for the two Russian Special Forces servicemen captured in eastern Ukraine last year. I hope that with time, these feelings will give way to wisdom. Honestly, I don't know how to do this. I survived in spite of you.

"I don't want people to want war, I want people to want peace, unfortunately peace has to come out of war", the Ukrainian pilot said, adding that she is "ready to die for Ukraine at any moment".

Yep SIG, spastic for sure

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

It comes as no surprise to me she betrays her fathers memory by supporting Russia so staunchly. Russia who kept her family in exile.

No wonder they kicked your father out of England and from the country of his birth. If he is anything like you he deserved it. And if the United States took you comrade trolls in and this is the thanks we get, you deserve nothing short of what your father got. A one way ticket to anyplace else.

THIRDSTOOGE, do you know what "Yes, but ..." means?

It means "No"

Savchenko is just like the USA ... saying one thing, and doing another. So while she bleats about freedom she imposes tyranny, while she bleats about protecting people she bombs them to smithereens, and while she bleats about peace she brings war. And you're just stupid enough to believe what she says.

As far as your trollishness is concerned, I think most people here realize that you follow me from thread to thread, posting anything nasty that you can think of, no matter how weak, ridiculous, and uninteresting it is. You have not added one jot of information to RWE, and except for your two other stooge friends I think people's eyes kind of glaze over when they see your posts and they just slide over them. I know my eyes glaze over, because you're just posting "blah blah blah" and more "blah blah blah" Name-calling is your specialty. So, how old are you? Seven? The thing that comes to mind whenever you post is River's famous line: Call me if anyone interesting shows up"

I hope that with time, these feelings will give way to wisdom. Honestly, I don't know how to do this. I survived in spite of you.

That must be a lie.
How could 2 Russian Special Forces members be captured in UKRAINE? I thought everybody said that Russia never invaded Ukraine! Perhaps they were on vacation in Ukraine?

Ukrainian airwoman Nadia Savchenko says she is willing to talk with Russia-backed separatist leaders in eastern Ukraine to try to end the nation's two-year-old conflict.

Savchenko told Ukrainian media on June 7 she believes direct peace talks with separatist leaders would be more effective than the current, unproductive talks that have included Russia, Ukraine, France, and Germany.

"The first step is extending the anti-Russian sanctions, because Russia does not yet understand that it needs to step back. The second step is to establish direct communication with the [separatists] without the Minsk Agreements. To establish direct internal communication without the third and fourth sides," Savchenko said on Radio Era.

Georgian, Ukrainian officials push for NATO membership

WASHINGTON — Senior officials from Georgia and Ukraine on Wednesday exhorted NATO members to bring the two nations into the alliance in order to protect them from Russia and cement ties with the West.

Georgia, a small post-Soviet nation in the South Caucasus intensified efforts to join the Western military alliance after it lost control of two breakaway provinces in a 2008 war with Russia. Ukraine’s pro-Western leaders are also pushing for membership after Russia annexed its Crimean peninsula and supported pro-Russian insurgents in a two-year separatist conflict in the east of the country. Russia vehemently opposes both bids as a threat to its security.

Yep, the world is closing in on Russia and all it can do is lash out and flop around like a dying fish on the shore line. I suggest they give up on trying to keep old alliances through threats and intimidation.

It's too bad Georgia, on John McCain's encouragement, decided to attack Russia. Maybe they wouldn't have to worry so much about payback. \

And funny thing, McCain was in Kiev too, rah-rah-ing teh coup.

Well, there's one thing I know for sure: everywhere McCain goes, violence is sure to follow.

If I were a nation state, I'd simply refuse him a visa as a persona non grata.
