Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

Good question.

Which historical figure should our current president, Barack Hussein Obama, replace when we honor his legacy by putting him on an item of currency?

That Obama is the United States' most admirable, accomplished modern president is a widely acknowledged fact, of course, but it seems possible that controversy might develop if he replaces another equally beloved figure. Here's who's currently on our coins and bills:

Penny: Abraham Lincoln
Nickel: Thomas Jefferson
Dime: FDR
Quarter: George Washington
Half-dollar: JFK
Dollar: George Washington
$2 bill: Thomas Jefferson
$5: Lincoln
$10: Hamilton
$20: Tubman replacing Jackson
$50: Ulysses S. Grant
$100: Benjamin Franklin

The most obvious candidates for replacement would seem to be Grant and JFK...

The next worst president, Clinton on the $3 bill.
I still have some of those. They make Dart throwing more fun.

The obvious next worse from your list is FDR. I even thought of him first, but could not recall any currency with his disgraceful countenance.

At least we are in the midst of a learning opportunity, where all schoolchildren will never be able to forget about our famous President Tubman.

At least we are in the midst of a learning opportunity, where all schoolchildren will never be able to forget about our famous President Tubman.

Or our famous President Benjamin Franklin.

Oh, wait, he was never President.

You have to hand it to JSF, he always approaches ideas even-handedly. That's why he never makes stupid mistakes!

Yanno, I would love to see the day when we no longer insert adjectives like "white" or "male" or "female" or "gay" into our descriptions of people. That's just divisive identity politics, when we judge people not for what they've done but for whether or not they "look like" us.

If we're judging people by what they've done for the most people, then how about putting people like Jonas Salk on currency, since he's done more for everyone ... male, female, American, Indian, rich, poor, gay, or straight ... than anyone else I can think of?

Of course you are correct and accurate, and almost clever in your misdirection.
Of course I should have pointed out that our schoolchildren will easily recall the Founders of our country like Franklin, Hamilton, and Tubman.

It was amazing how much thought and logic she input to the Founding of our country and it's documents prior to Washington's first day in office, 1789.
OH WAIT!!! Tubman lived from 1822-1913, so your claims that she fits in the group of Founders found on U.S. Banknotes is really just a lie.
Others pictured on U.S. paper currency include fiscal conservative Kennedy, emancipator Lincoln, Grant, McKinley, Cleveland, Wilson, Chase. If you were capable of opening a book, you could find that other than Treasury Secretary Salmon P. Chase, these others were Presidents. Both Hamilton and Chase were Treasury Secretaries (Treasury prints the paper currency). Tubman was not Secretary of the U.S. Treasury.
Franklin lived 1705-1790, passing shortly after Washington took office.
Hamilton lived 1755-1804, passing during the third Presidency.

At the time of Chase's printing, only 16 Presidents were available for selection.
At this time, 43 Presidents are available for selection, not including Tubman, and any one of them far better than the current occupant.

Your revisionist history has fallen flat.
For the first time, our paper currency includes Founders, Presidents, Treasury Secretaries, and now None Of The Above.

I still vote for the second worst President, Clinton to be replaced on the $3 bill, or with the third worst (Carter) not being on currency, the next worst FDR could be removed from some coins.

Ahem! Did I say founders? Anywhere? Try looking here through my post for that: "Or our famous President Benjamin Franklin. Oh, wait, he was never President. "

Also, was Lincoln a 'founder'? ($5 bill) Andrew Jackson? ($20 bill) U.S. Grant? ($50 bill) William McKinley? ($500 bill) Grover Cleveland? ($1000 bill) And interestingly, Samuel P Chase (who was neither a president nor 'founder') is on the $10,000 bill.

Did you even read the post, or just skim it so you could copy some details that I mentioned, pretending these points as your own?

For convenience, here I quote the full post which you edited out and then cherry-picked some details, but still repeating the facts that I did in fact present.

So, other than repeating what I said, and apparently agreeing with the points I made, was there some issue you intended to address?
Was your omission of repeating my mention of Wilson significant?

Maybe dead president, or live Treasurer. Perhaps Obama could become Treasury Secretary.

Obama can replace FDR, I agree.

But based on patriotism & other achievements,
John Wayne oughta be on some bill.

Jefferson's on the nickel and the $2. He was a slaver, so put Obama on the nickel, says I. We'd still have Jefferson on currency.

Washington owned slaves, and is on the Quarter and the $1 bill. Right?
