Of the 794 prisoners, a full 568 screened positive for ASPD. By comparing that group's genetic material to a large control sample from the general population, the researchers identified a number of genes that may play a role in at least some ASPD cases.

There's just messed up people, and people with bad DNA.

The US and the West has a literal dysgenics program where the worst people are encouraged to breed. This is only recent but we are seeing the result.

I have a theory that all the people that could never have fit in with their own societies ended up here because here was supposed to be better, and then have been inbreeding traits for the last 200 years. We have some crazy smart people, but it mostly results in just plain crazy

I think it's why our incarceration rates are so high.

On the subject of inbreeding traits (yep, I'm guilty of it too)...

They think it's one in 50. I know from looking around the school here, it's more like one in 20 or more. The problem is most people don't understand what "Autism Spectrum" means. Any learning disorder accompanied with sensory issues or social issues is theoretically on the spectrum. My kid sits at a table with six of these kids, and knows a half a dozen others and it's a small school.

I agree there really needs to be better terminology than "high functioning" and "low functioning" and "societally incompatible".

Maybe they should ask the education assistants about numbers, rather than parents, who- more often than not- are completely oblivious.

Inbreeding itself is not a problem if you had eugenics. We have dysgenics and no about of breeding will save that situation.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte started a rampage of killing "drug dealers". Take note of the air quotes around "drug dealers". It would not take much convincing before Duterte sends death squads after anybody who behaves "funny" or "peculiar". Duterte could claim they have "defective genes" and should not be allowed to breed. He is a real peculiar nutcase who was insulting Obama during an international conference last week.

President Rodrigo Duterte campaigned hard on a no-nonsense approach to crime -- and now the full impact of what exactly this means for those on the streets is emerging.

Shocking photographs published in local and international media show suspected drug dealers -- the front line on his war against drugs -- often bound hand and foot, shirts soaked in blood, their faces sometimes covered in duct tape, wearing crude signs proclaiming their alleged crimes.

He's repeatedly boasted that his presidency would see the end of crime, and on several occasions has hinted openly that he doesn't oppose his police force or even citizens taking the lives of suspected criminals. What better way to end crime than to kill potential criminals with bad genes before they commit their first crime? That is the kind of twisted biological science and logic that would be irresistibly appealing to a thinker of Duterte's stature.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

A lot of people on death row have brain damage, most often from being beaten as children. Many prisoners have ADHD (poor impulse control) or some form of ASD. And the "neurotypical" prisoners grew up in such violent neighborhoods that they have PTSD, which is a normal response to an abnormal situation.

But it's hard to blame "breeding" when the rate of ASD has zoomed up, far faster than "breeding" would allow.

We need to look for another underlying cause for ASD.

I think it's time you disabused yourself of that pleasant little fairy tale about our fearless leaders being some sort of surrogate daddy or mommy, laying awake at night thinking about how to protect the kids. HA! In reality, they're thinking about who to sell them to so that they can get a few more shekels in their pockets.

It's the pitbull argument.

They are living creatures and they have rights.
Yes, but allowing them to have free rights means destruction of free society. Innocent people pay for those who cannot control themselves.
STOP BREEDING THEM.

And yeah, that goes for the people too. Maybe we test everyone, and recommend that they don't have children? Not that trusting people with a major mental illness is a great idea...
If I had known that my spouse had Aspergers and I was Dyspraxic before we had a child, we wouldn't have. She's a great kid, but wow did we ever curse her. I doubt everyone else understands that choice.

I get where Duterte is coming from, and I get the frustration that led to that point, and a part of me even wants to cheer him on... But violence begets violence. What he's doing will make things worse in the long run. He's not causing distrust of gov't, he's causing HATE of gov't, which leads to anarchy and eventually everything he's tried to do will swing 'round the other way. In their faces....

The analogy that strikes me would be screening for Double Y Chromosomes, not the pitbull argument.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XYY_syndrome#Epidemiology

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, after talking to his “brilliant” scientists, could order street executions of anyone with two Ys because they’re known to be violent and antisocial. It is a fact that humans with one Y are also more likely to be criminals than those with no Y. So Duterte could expand the killing to them, too. (I’m too late – Duterte already started without me.) The criminals have begun wearing long hair or wigs and makeup to appear to be a Double X and thereby stymy President Duterte’s “well designed” plan to end crime in the Philippines.

I look forward to President Trump and his “scientists” meeting with President Duterte and his “scientists” on how to end all genetically based crime in the USA. Trump and Duterte have many similarities in the way they each talk about easy solutions to difficult problems. Well, difficult only for people who aren’t smart as Trump.

WISHI,

For whatever reason you're stuck on genetics as "the cause" for so many illnesses, and eugenics as "the cure".

Well, maybe where YOU live inbreeding is a real problem, but it doesn't explain why ASD zoomed up faster than can be accounted for by "breeding", and the prevalence of ASD in areas (such as CA) which have a large influx of populations from all over the world, with attendant genetic mixing. Unstick your thoughts from a purely local perspective.

I suspect that the problem is environmental, or a mix of environmental and genetic. It could be like diabetes: A lot of people have genes which make them not process carbohydrates very well, but it doesn't become a problem until that population is exposed to a stressful food-rich environment.

So you DON'T think we are essentially unbreeding ourselves? That we aren't rewarding the lowest common denominator every time they breed?
The poor and the stupid are the ones having the kids. The wealthy and intelligent have stopped, because they realize no longer need the population messing up the planet.

Like I've said another dozen times, WE HAVE NEVER USED SULFUR IN OUR FOODS MORE THAN ANY OTHER TIME IN HISTORY THAN WE DO NOW. We OVERDOSE on preservatives DAILY. Our food supply is SHIT.

More children are surviving their bad health than any other time in history too. Each generation compounds bad health and bad genetics.

If there were a outside problem that "only" the youthes in Wishes' locality were suffering from it would be the spike in crystal meth that the rural areas in the "Heartland" were suffering in the last 10 years or so.

Maybe if the federal government just stayed the fuck out of everyone's business, and didn't allow the sale of far worse drugs over the counter at every single Walgreens and CVS, they would have been perfectly fine smoking cigarettes and pot and drinking booze instead of turning into soulless murderers?

There's your "White Privilige" in rural America.

Hrmmmmm.... what are my options as a white kid in the Rural Midwest?

1. I'm a super hot chick and can basically go wherever I want and do whatever I want as long as I marry a rich guy before I'm 25.

2. Scholarships. Most likely academic ones. Have to fight super smart Asian immigrants there, but much more likely than fighting black kids for sports scholoarships on the whole.

3. Follow my parents footsteps and tend the farm that is essentially owned by the Federal Government, or struggle with the small town business.

4. Do meth and die after losing all of my teeth, but not after making everyone who used to love me gasp in horror of what I've become.

Isn't White Privilege Amazing Sigs?

Do Right, Be Right. :)
