Newly Leaked Emails Reveal Unprecedented Coordination Between Putin And Press

It is no secret that the mainstream Russian media has a "slight" United Russia-leaning bias in their political reporting. But newly leaked emails from Oleg Kashin, a Putin critic who was beaten outside his Moscow home in a 2010 attack, reveal just how "cozy" and pervasive Putin's relationship is with the mainstream press. From "off-the-record dinners with the key national reporters" to feeding pre-written propaganda pieces to "friendly" journalists, the new leaks reveal startling coordination between the Putin regime and the Russian mainstream media.

The first revelation comes from a January 2015 strategy document written by Putin's Chief of staff, Sergei Ivanov, about how the re-election campaign should approach reporting on Putin's decision to run for president. The memo identifies "Boris Komotsky" of Pravda as someone who had a "very good relationship" with the campaign and who had "teed up stories" for Putin in the past.

Other documents revealed by Oleg Kashin, listed those whom the campaign regarded as their most reliable “surrogates” – such as RT's Peter Lavelle and Max Keiser, as well as The Truthseeker's DM Bennett. The list also included "Maria Michela D'Alessandro" as a "Patriotic helper"...of course, D'Alessandro has made headlines this weekend as the latest WikiLeaks dump of the "Podesta Emails" revealed that the Putin campaign potentially coordinated the release directly with Assange
