That said, Obama was far smarter than Bush, but it didn't lead to better policy, it led to the same bad policy being done better. So I tend to weigh more "what does he intend to do?"

I gave George W Bush 18 months, I can give anyone the benefit of the doubt.

I'm sorry did I miss something. Did Obama start a war. Don't say Libya because the French led that. Remember all the republicans complaining how Obama leads from behind? The French are our allies and we needed to have their backs. Don't say drone strikes on DASH or Al-Quaeda, because no wars have started over those.

I noticed you posted Obama was guilty of genocide. You need to explain that to have any credibility that what you post, based on what you think, isn't crap. And if local personality's spew garbage due to a lack of knowledge about what they speak, than what you need to do is be polite while you educate them. If they are open to it, move on.

I'm more worried about the people around Trump than Trump himself. Fortunately, they're a lot easier to remove if they get out of line. Right now the one that worries me the most is Bannon. Seems Tillerson is there to make this deal. That I can deal with. I doubt he'll start a war. We just have to watch out for someone who might being put in that sort of position. What we can do about it? If it comes to that, find something damning about a nominee and mail it to a congressman. That actually does get results. (I was a little surprised that Sessions got confirmed. He's been knocked down for nominations before. Maybe his fellow senators were just sick of him ::evil)

Nothing but crap dreamtrove. Obama did not start any wars. List the countries that are at war with us. Wars Obama started. Like I said, the Libyan war was not started by us. Shit, it was a civil war, look it up. The French got involved, we backed them up. List the countries where Obama committed genocide. You made the claim.

It's easy for some to only find fault in others and perceive themselves as special, superior. And it's funny how those same people blame America for everything that goes on in the world. We have a couple here. Hope you ain't another one.

The article you quote speaks of possible mistakes in judgement by the Obama administration concerning Syria. And if so probably based on faulty intelligence. Not that Obama led the charge like Russia in killing civilians, targeting and bombing hospitals and dropping barrel bombs indiscriminately. And I don't see any documents backing up his claims. Much of what he says may be correct but Obama was making the best of a very bad situation. A situation made worse by the Russians. After all, it was everybody in Syria against Russia and Assad. It's almost impossible to sort out who's who except DASH. Excluding DASH, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Till he isn't. We didn't do business with Al Qaeda. Some of those who we supported did, out of necessity.

It's always been our allies first when it comes to Libya. Also, you said Obama is responsible for several wars and genocide. I'm still waiting for some proof of that.

Viewpoint: How Libya Became a French and British War;

By Michael Elliott Saturday, Mar. 19, 2011

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973, on the situation in Libya, is a measure that was adopted on 17 March 2011. The Security Council resolution was proposed by France, Lebanon, and the United Kingdom.

As the military action against Libya to give teeth to U.N. Security Council resolution 1973 began, one question kept nagging away: Why, precisely, were the governments of Britain and France in the lead? Why were their armed forces taking part in the military action, and why had their diplomats done the grunt work in the negotiations that led to adoption of the resolution?

It is not an easy question to answer. British Prime Minister David Cameron said that the military action against Muammar Gaddafi was "necessary, it is legal and it is right." Right, "because I don't believe that we should stand aside while this dictator murders his own people." French President Sarkozy said, "If we intervene on the side of the Arab nations it is because of a universal conscience that cannot tolerate such crimes." I'm not one of those cynics who assumes that such statements are devoid of content; in any event, they are grounded in language that was already quite condemnatory of Libya in resolution 1973. But the rhetoric doesn't really answer the question: Why intervene?

Is what happens in Libya of direct national interest to Britain and France? To be sure, Libya is across the Mediterranean Sea from Europe, and its trade is directed mainly there. But Libya is a nation of only 6.5 million people. For comparison, that is a bit more than the population of El Salvador and a bit less than Honduras', and whatever happened in the Cold War, it's been a while since U.S. policymakers have argued that what goes on in Central American nations is of such pressing national interest to the U.S. that it would legitimize armed intervention there.

I think this is disingenuous to try to deliberate represent the state of affairs as different from what you and I know it be, and different from what the links suggest, or any google search we return.

I think people here tend to think for themselves, and it would be a waste of time trying to paint the picture for them.

Re: arab spring, the token okay in a number of nations for what are by the numbers, overwhelmingly US actions is a matter of politics, but not constituting a civil war. I tend to agree with SignyM's suggestion at the time that it was Qaddafi's removal of his oil form the dollar to the Euro, and his subsequent announcement of his intent to shift it again to a gold backed African Dinar that led to our operation, not any hold over from colonialism.

Re: Libya, Benghazi, Al Nusra, the gas attacks, this is all straightforward, and ends in the loss of a million lives in a border war, and I don't see Russia as doing anything here other than helping their long term ally, Syria, defend against a severe series of terrorist attacks, and the UN later found the same, and quite recently the turks involved confessed to their part, completely backing up Sy Hersh's story.

Benghazi is one of many epic failures of the last administration, and the previous ones, foreign policy. I, for one, welcome the change. Where it will bring us? I don't know. Anywhere we've been since Reagan has been a pretty bad place to be.

BTW, If I didn't already do this, please add Mexico, and Ukraine, to the failure list.

G,

6 has a point, and I sort of reacted the same way. I'd grant that was Obama's initial intent, or stated intent, whether any president means what they say or not is hard to tell, but the result was chaos, as far as foreign policy went. The left media did not really cover our WWII level of international involvement, which was doable because a lot of it was done under the cover of programs like JSOC, COIN and CANVAS, and not under overt US military command. That was primarily to avoid congressional oversight and legal intervention, which, whether intentionally or otherwise, led to an obscene level of human rights abuses, particularly in Waziristan, Swat Valley, Baluchistan and Khandar. All of those are pashtun kingdoms on the border between pakistan and afghanistan. What we have now is the Pashtun are accusing us of a genocide on the scale of the holocaust. It's very difficult to prove them wrong. At one point an I saw one administration official admit to 4 million civilian casualties across the entire conflict, including Syria and Arab Spring. In the end, no one knows how many people were killed, not even in the holocaust, but more than a million, and that's all we need to know.

Which is part of why some of us on the left were so vehemently anti-Hillary. It doesn't get any better the further you look. But do look. I start with things like Sy Hersh's column in the New Yorker, also the Nation, anything with that level of credibility, look internationally. The muslim sources you have to take with some amount of salt, but if they say something, I tend to accept it if I can't prove it wrong. They're a lot better than our own media, but still prone to exaggeration. All I know is the end result, and it ain't pretty. I'm not putting any faith in Trump, because I know he might very well do something similar any day. I'm not happy about the Yemen affair. Which no one has mentioned.

As some in GOP concede Trump's pardons were 'rotten,' what's next?

Looking over the list of pardons Donald Trump has issued since losing last month's election is a jarring experience. The president has effectively wielded his pardon power as a corrupt weapon, rewarding loyalists, completing cover-ups, undermining federal law enforcement, and doling out perverse favors to the politically connected.

‘Rupert Has Had Enough’: NY Post’s Stunning Front Page Condemnation of Trump Sends Shockwaves

The New York Post‘s shocking front page plea to President Donald Trump to “Stop the Insanity” is opening eyes throughout the industry on Monday morning.

In a scathing rebuke, the Post’s editorial board implored Trump to give up his attempt to overthrow the election.

“You’re cheering for an undemocratic coup,” the editorial board wrote.

Trump getting ripped in the pages of major newspapers, is — of course — nothing new. But this particular criticism is sure to hit home — given that it comes from a paper Trump repeatedly praised in the run-up to the election, and one which has been largely sympathetic to his cause throughout his term.

Trump wants to censor truth. He's being censored because his lies are getting people killed.

That doesn't get us anywhere except deep under the thumb of the Fascism you claim to fight against.

I've been speaking out against censorship and invasion of privacy since day one no matter who is responsible.

You don't get to pick and choose when you think it's okay. Especially not in the digital age where the weapons used to do it are so easily turned on everyone.

Take a step back and look at the bigger picture while you still have eyes.

^ Better than the millions of dangerous lies in the form of fake ballots the Establishment created out of thin air to steal the election for Biden*.

Joe Biden's press secretary gave her first press conference on day one of Biden's presidency. It was normal and it was wonderful.

By "normal" you mean that the Legacy Media is blowing the Democratic President* as it always does when the Democrat wins*.

“Nothing like this has ever happened at the White House in our long history of covering multiple administrations of different parties,” said New York Times editor Dean Baquet."

The White House blocked several news outlets from attending a closed-door briefing Friday afternoon with press secretary Sean Spicer, a decision that drew strong rebukes from news organizations and may only heighten tensions between the press corps and the administration.

The New York Times and CNN, both of which have reported critically on the administration and are frequent targets of President Donald Trump, were prohibited from attending. The Huffington Post was also denied entry.

Donald Trump's most fervent supporters are turning on Fox News host Sean Hannity.

“Sean Hannity is disgusting,” Lindell told the website. “He’s a terrible journalist that does not do his job or his diligence [on] election crime. He doesn’t seem to have any concern over any election problems in the country, and it’s disgusting."
