Hey. Now that we all seem to have calmed down a bit, you guys should really check this link out. It's funny as hell, but it's a little scary too.

Part of me can't believe that these focus groups were real. The other part of me knows these focus groups were real.

Recognize anyone? Was it like looking into a mirror?

I actually think it would be more absurd if it was real, they'd stick to their positions more, and the transgressions of the real candidates would be worse.

If you felt this was fake, why would you post it. Isn't there enough bullshit posted here to sort out? To me that's one way of spreading lies and propaganda without taking responsibility for it.

Finish the video and watch the Clinton part and ask yourself the same question.

DT didn't post it. I did. Because it was intended to be funny. It's Triumph the insult comic dog. Ironically, a hand puppet is telling it more like it is than the actual news media.

I thought it was funny because it's pretty much exactly how most of us in here behave.

The sad thing is the anchor is the only part that is really changing. And yes, T,the candidates did not really say those things.

I know that the candidates didn't say those things, but I believe that there's a very good chance that was real. They might not have even gotten them right on the first try and gotten much more appropriate reactions. That could have been the 5th or even 10th group of people that gave them the right reaction.

I think it was a good social experiment. I'd love to know more about it and would be disappointed if it was scripted.

Oh, the people might have been real, but if so it would take several tries to get 100%. The only thing that makes me think you might be right is that a couple of the people from each group we didn't hear from by the end, and I think they may have been edited out for not falling for it. The quotes could have been replaced with real ones.

"... React to Shocking Revelations"

Every other headline I see these days has the word
"Shocking" in it ... like, "read this if yah wanna
be shocked, 'cause that's what we're selling now."

It's an irritating put on; such media is irresponsible.

... oooOO}{OOooo ...

I've given up looking for the meaning of life. Now all I want is a cookie.

I don't think that this particular piece was irresponsible because it was on a comedy show. What I don't like is that the MSM pushes stuff like this daily from wherever their bias comes from and passes it off as news. That's what's irresponsible.

I don't think it would be as hard to get that result as you might imagine. That's the funny thing about "group think". I don't think this would have worked if they only had one or two people per group. The person would probably catch on when all alone, or they would keep their opinion to themself. But you put a bunch of strangers in the same room, let them know that they're all on the same "side" and there is a problem that needs to be solved and see what happens....

All it takes is two people from that group, and the rest usually fall in line. The first person is important to get the ball rolling, but really it's the second person that is key because that is what turns into a movement. Once you've got two people doing mental gymnastics to justify what is obviously unjustifiable, the more shy and/or less opinionated people jump on board.

Then you have to take the last election into account. No matter how bad your "side" was, the other side was just so much worse.

interesting idea. reminds me of a friend of mine's explanation of jury duty. She was having an interesting debate with a couple other people, about the probably that the suspect could be guitry vs the lack of evidence and the amount of doubt that still remained, and then an alpha male and alpha female came in with a couple of natural followers, and their "must be guity, he looks like a lout" argument. Then, she said, it all turned into high school.

In 30 seconds, the entire justice just fell apart for me, because I realized she was right. No evolution happens that transforms ordinary people into jurors, so there isn't going to be a lot of highly evolved discourse. Oh, sure, that may happen with lawyers, but then we're back to "everyone gets as much justice as he or she can afford"

Myself, I was on jury duty once, but the suspect confessed before the trial

Yeah. Jury duty would be a great example. The difference there of course being that the main motivator for people would be that they didn't want to be there and to wrap it up as quickly as possible.

I was only ever in court once, to testify against the guy who stabbed me. I didn't even want to go, but it turned out that my boss was working for the State's Attorney who was aware of the case and knew that I was the guy who was stabbed. I refused to go to the other 3 cases against the guys who didn't stab me, but going to the other one was essentially a mandate from my boss. Even though I was the one who was stabbed, and he told me that "I'm going back to jail tonight" before the violence broke out, I delivered him into the beast of a system that fails nearly 100% at re-rehabilitation and only creates much worse criminals by the time they get out.

I would imagine in most cases that I would be thrown out before the case started because when they ask me if I have any biases I will tell them that I will not send anyone to prison. I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't do that though so I actually would have the chance to do it.

That would be an interesting experiment on its own. Let's see how long it would take for people to change their judgement to not guilty when they have somebody who will keep them all there for years unless they change their verdict. Especially if I'm still unemployed at the time. That's 17 bucks a day I'm not making now. LOL. I could live off that $17 a day. They missing you back at your job yet?

lol. not bad. We have the boonie justice system here. The judge just refused to accept my plea of guilty.

but if we had a large segment of the population refuse to send anyone to prison, they'd find ways ot cherrypick it even if there were only 12 people in the country who would, and they'd all be lobbyists for the prison system.

Oh, no doubt. That guy Jimmy Dore I told you about has a whole video segment about labor in this country and how they exploit prison labor in the US. Jobs that aren't unionized and that can't be exported to other countries because they have to be done here are in many cases done by prisoners for pennies on the dollar. The US Prison System is big business.

What makes it worse is somebody going in for some meaningless "crime" like possession or even sales of marijuana and coming out a completely different person that will end up back in prison. I had a few friends who did some time when I was younger. I couldn't hang out with them when they came out. It was like they were pod people versions of themselves.
