Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who briefly served as national security adviser to President Donald Trump, is seeking immunity from prosecution in exchange for testifying to those conducting investigations into the president’s ties to Russia, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

According to the report, Flynn made the offer to the FBI, the House intelligence committee and the Senate intelligence committee. All three entities are currently investigating whether Trump’s associates had contact with Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign. According to the Wall Street Journal, none of them have yet accepted Flynn’s offer.

Flynn’s attorney, Robert Kelner, confirmed in a statement that “discussions have taken place” with both committees, but declined to provide details on what those discussions entailed.

“General Flynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should the circumstances permit,” Kelner wrote. “Out of respect for the Committees, we will not comment right now on the details of discussions between counsel for General Flynn and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, other than to confirm that those discussions have taken place.”

Spokespeople for both the chairman and ranking member of the House intelligence committee denied the Wall Street Journal report.

“No, Michael Flynn has not offered to testify to [the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence] in exchange for immunity,”
Jack Langer, a spokesman for House intelligence committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), wrote in an email to The Huffington Post.

The same could be said by Adam Schiff.

So somebody is lying.

The story that I posted has enough intrigue and bribery and kidnapping plots to fill a book! And yet, NONE of these activities involving Flynn have anything to do with Russia, but instead have to do with Israeli gas being sold to Turkey, and the kidnapping of Gulen to Turkey.

If that story is true, then Flynn might need immunity for THOSE particular activities, in return for innocuous testimony about Russia.

Or, maybe not. I've learned never to discount anything offhand, but never to believe anything either. Right now there's no evidence to support any story, just a lot of "he said, she said"

You keep defending Russia SIG, it's what you do best. The facts however seem to always contradict you, and pointing that out is what I do best. It's all about Russia and how we will kick them in the teeth for fucking with us. It's long overdue. Long term Russia screwed up big time.

Trumps Putin's dupe. Trump will be gone soon enough. In the mean time everyone is building up their defenses because of Putin. And it seems Putin ran out of money so his build up is on hold.

Thanks Putin..

Senate Intelligence Committee Rejects Immunity for Michael Flynn

The Senate Intelligence Committee turned down the request by former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's lawyer for a grant of immunity in exchange for his testimony, a senior congressional official with direct knowledge told NBC News.

The official said Flynn's lawyer was told it was "wildly preliminary" and that immunity was "not on the table" at the moment.

Oh, so you make shit up and then when challenged for the facts which back up your story, you weenie out?

Typical

Let's get ALL the facts out in the open. The actual transcript of what Flynn and Kiselyov talked about. How that information was obtained. Who illegally leaked the information to the press. The meeting attendees ... ALL of them ... who talked about kidnapping Gulen. Who spoke to Nunes about the surveillance of ... well... anyone important. The data in that database.

Yep, let's look at ALL of it.

I personally would LOVE to see Flynn granted immunity. Oh, the stories he could tell!

Truth, like science, isn't determined by an opinion poll. Or, as hubby would say A billion flies eat shit

There are a lot of people who are "nice" who just can't believe the USA would do such awful things. When dealing with people with beliefs ... well, they have their beliefs. It's like arguing with a flat-earther. Truth often loses out in that context, no matter how much evidence is stacked up for one POV.

So let's stick with the evidence and leave beliefs and second-hand personal attacks out of this.

How is it that at least 3 levels of FBI Agents can review Flynn's testimony and conclude that he did not lie, but Mueller still charges him with lying?

Should be noted that this in not a FBI tactic, purely a Mueller tactic to maliciously persecute innocent people.

Flynn offered to talk to House and Senate investigators if they granted him immunity from prosecution. That's not the action of someone who feels like they're innocent.

In the plea deal, Flynn admitted he's a liar. I think if you plead guilty to lying, that's a hard admission to walk back. "I was lying about lying, your Honor, but now I'm telling the truth. Believe me!" says Flynn. Then there's the matter of Flynn's failure to register as a foreign agent when he represented repressive Turkey during the 2016 campaign. Mueller went easy on Flynn by not pressing more serious charges against him. If Flynn takes back his guilty plea of lying to the FBI, Mueller would be free to throw a heavier book at Flynn.

Flynn never registered as a foreign agent. He never mentioned it when he filed for his security clearance. That's a lie, and there are more.

If you look at the whole picture, he was our national security advisor, the Russians, and his not reporting his contacts with them, you realize that is a very big lie that demands action.

WSJ Explores The Mystery Of Michael Flynn's Guilty Plea

In recent months, The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board has not been shy of criticizing the establishment as much as the rest of the media-moonscape criticizes Trump. Having jabbed at "too conflicted" Mueller, urging him to step down, and daring to point out that it was Trump who started the trade wars, but China; the authors turned their angry gaze at the mystery of Former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn's guilty plea... especially considering FBI agents said he did not commit a crime...

Via The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board,

One of the stranger moments of Robert Mueller’s special counsel probe is Michael Flynn’s Dec. 1, 2017 guilty plea for lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The former White House national security adviser pleaded guilty to a single count of making false statements, even though then FBI director James Comey had told Congress in March that the two FBI agents who interviewed Mr. Flynn believed he hadn’t lied.

These columns reported this Comey testimony based on sources at the time of Mr. Flynn’s plea (“The Flynn Information,” Dec. 1, 2017). Now comes confirmation from a less redacted version of the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia report released late Friday.

On pages 53-54, the report notes that in March 2017 “Director Comey testified to the Committee that ‘the agents . . . discerned no physical indications of deception. They didn’t see any change in posture, in tone, in inflection, in eye contact. They saw nothing that indicated to them that he knew he was lying to them.’” The quotes are from the committee transcript of Mr. Comey’s remarks.

The report goes on to say that then Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe “confirmed the interviewing agent’s initial impression and stated that the ‘conundrum that we faced on their return from the interview is that although [the agents] didn’t detect deception in the statements that he made in the interview . . . the statements were inconsistent with our understanding of the conversation that he had actually had with the ambassador.’”

Recall that the inconsistency concerned whether Mr. Flynn had discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. Vice President Mike Pence had said publicly that Mr. Flynn had not discussed sanctions, and once it came to light that he had, Mr. Flynn resigned.

But Mr. McCabe also nonetheless told the House Intelligence Committee that “‘the two people who interviewed [Flynn] didn’t think he was lying, [which] was not [a] great beginning of a false statement case.’”

All of this relates to the mystery of why Mr. Flynn pleaded guilty to making false statements. It made little sense for him to lie since as a seasoned intelligence officer he would know the U.S. eavesdrops on the Russian ambassador. He also willingly sat for the FBI interview with no legal counsel, suggesting he felt no risk in doing so.

Certainly the statements about the FBI agent’s impression of Mr. Flynn would not have helped Mr. Mueller’s case at trial had Mr. Flynn not pleaded guilty. The plea deal noted that Mr. Flynn’s sentence would depend on his “assistance in the investigation,” and perhaps Mr. Flynn felt he lacked the money to defend himself in court. He also may have wanted to spare his son, whom Mr. Mueller was also targeting.

In any case it is a dubious practice for a prosecutor to force a cooperating witness to plead guilty to a crime he didn’t commit.
Perhaps Mr. Flynn is supplying testimony behind the scenes that puts all of this in a better light, but the facts on the public record to date don’t reflect well on Mr. Mueller’s prosecutorial tactics toward Mr. Flynn.

The House report also reflects poorly on Mr. Comey’s credibility.

Despite the transcript of his testimony, Mr. Comey at least three times on his book tour has denied telling Congress that the FBI agents did not think Mr. Flynn was lying.

“Did you tell lawmakers that FBI agents didn’t believe former national security adviser Michael Flynn was lying intentionally to investigators?” Fox News’ Bret Baier asked Mr. Comey on April 26.

“No,” Mr. Comey replied, adding that “I didn’t believe that and didn’t say that.”

Asked a similar question by NBC’s Chuck Todd, Mr. Comey responded, “Not true. And I don’t know what people heard me say, if they’re reporting it accurately, what they heard me say, they misunderstood. But that’s not accurate.”

Perhaps Mr. Comey’s memory is faulty, as happens with human beings, though then he might commiserate with Mr. Flynn. On the other hand, Mr. Comey has jailed many Americans for false statements to the FBI, with no accommodation for mistakes of memory.

The latest House release also shows again the games that the Department of Justice and FBI are playing with redactions. The FBI has for weeks fought Intelligence Committee requests to declassify this portion of its report, though the only harm from public knowledge is to Mr. Comey’s reputation and to the credibility of Mr. Mueller’s prosecution.

The FBI has a conflict of interest in overseeing redactions given that the behavior of its leaders and agents are in question. This is one more reason for President Trump to use his authority to declassify all of the Russia 2016 files.

Now, personally, I think Flynn pled guilty to a crime he didn't commit because there were OTHER things that he had done .... things related to Turkey and Fetah Gulen, not RUSSIA!!! ... and like the Manafort charges about Ukraine (which predate the campaign by almost ten years) Mueller is simply over-reaching his prosecutorial authority to squeeze Trump associates on unrelated charges in order to dig up dirt on Trump.

It is indeed a witch hunt and I'm glad that three Federal judges (so far) have smacked back at Mueller pretty hard.

Your first quoted paragraph says Trump started the trade Wars. Was it meant to say the opposite?

yes, I believe so. I stumbled over that too. A couple of things about Zerohedge: Aside from constantly predicting THE END!! of something, they get their news digest out very fast. OTOH, their editing leaves something to be desired, there's an unusual number of typos and "cut and paste" errors in their text. So, yeah: Just insert "NOT".

OK.
BTW, you included your opinion of why he pled guilty. My opinion is still the same as the original claim: he pled Guilty as the only way to avert complete financial ruin, and family victimizing, when facing the Oppressive Thumb of Big Government Maliciously persecuting innocents.

Ruining the lives of Innocent Citizens is the only thing that Mueller has proven himself capable of.

I think it's time to remember some of what the trolls were saying then and what the facts are saying now. Common theme is russia.
