Confirmed: Susan Rice "Unmasked" Trump Team

Until this morning, the Cernovich report was unconfirmed, with many in the "legacy media" accusing Cernovich, who recently was profiled on 60 Minutes for being a prominent member of the "fake news" dissemination team for being - what else - fake news. However, moments ago Bloomberg's Eli Lake confirmed that it was indeed Susan Rice who was responsible for the repeatedly "unmasking" multiple members of the Trump team, in what may be dubbed yet another "conspiracy" to delegitimize the current US president.

From Eli Lake:

White House lawyers last month learned that the former national security adviser Susan Rice requested the identities of U.S. persons in raw intelligence reports on dozens of occasions that connect to the Donald Trump transition and campaign, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

The pattern of Rice's requests was discovered in a National Security Council review of the government's policy on "unmasking" the identities of individuals in the U.S. who are not targets of electronic eavesdropping, but whose communications are collected incidentally. Normally those names are redacted from summaries of monitored conversations and appear in reports as something like "U.S. Person One."

As Lake adds, the National Security Council's senior director for intelligence, Ezra Cohen-Watnick, was conducting the review, according to two U.S. officials who spoke with Bloomberg View on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly. In February Cohen-Watnick discovered Rice's multiple requests to unmask U.S. persons in intelligence reports that related to Trump transition activities. He brought this to the attention of the White House General Counsel's office, who reviewed more of Rice's requests and instructed him to end his own research into the unmasking policy.

The intelligence reports were summaries of monitored conversations -- primarily between foreign officials discussing the Trump transition, but also in some cases direct contact between members of the Trump team and monitored foreign officials. One U.S. official familiar with the reports said they contained valuable political information on the Trump transition such as whom the Trump team was meeting, the views of Trump associates on foreign policy matters and plans for the incoming administration.

Making matters worse, Rice appears to have lied: while she has not spoken directly on the issue of unmasking, last month when she was asked on the "PBS NewsHour" about reports that Trump transition officials, including Trump himself, were swept up in incidental intelligence collection, Rice said: "I know nothing about this," adding, "I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that account today."

Susan Rice Ordered "Detailed Spreadsheets Of Intercepted Phone Calls" With Trump Team

After it was revealed over the weekend by Mike Cernovich that Susan Rice was the mysterious Obama official behind the "unmasking" of Trump associates, the details behind the extreme measures taken by the Obama administration, including what seems to be personal legal liability for Susan Rice and potentially others, continue to grow more and more disturbing.

This morning, the Daily Caller has provided new details, courtesy of former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova, suggesting that Rice specifically requested that the NSA provide her with "detailed spreadsheets of intercepted phone calls with unmasked Trump associates."

“What was produced by the intelligence community at the request of Ms. Rice were detailed spreadsheets of intercepted phone calls with unmasked Trump associates in perfectly legal conversations with individuals,” diGenova told The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group Monday.

“The overheard conversations involved no illegal activity by anybody of the Trump associates, or anyone they were speaking with,” diGenova said. “In short, the only apparent illegal activity was the unmasking of the people in the calls.”

Meanwhile, Retired Colonel James Waurishuk, an NSC veteran and former deputy director for intelligence at the U.S. Central Command, said that the level of coordination required to pull off such a massive spying operation is staggering and would have required numerous personnel from the White House, NSA, CIA, National Security Council, etc.

“The lawyers and counsel at the NSA surely would be talking to the lawyers and members of counsel at CIA, or at the National Security Council or at the Director of National Intelligence or at the FBI,” he said. “It’s unbelievable of the level and degree of the administration to look for information on Donald Trump and his associates, his campaign team and his transition team. This is really, really serious stuff.”

In other words, it's growing increasingly unlikely that this operation was anything but a direct, targeted attempt of the Obama administration to utilize the full force of the U.S. intelligence apparatus to take down a political adversary.

As I have already said, if there was anything illegal going on on the Trump team, the intelligence agencies WOULD HAVE ALREADY KNOWN ABOUT IT. The information would have come out.

The fact that these deep-state assholes have to resort to insinuation, disinformation, and smear campaigns tells me ... has told me for a,long time ... that there is no "there" there.

However, there is certainly a lot of "there" there at the NSA and CIA and former Obama appointees. So, speaking of traitors swinging that the end of ropes... where shall we start?

THUGR, BEFORE YOU SAY THIS IS "FAKE NEW", I'M LINKING THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE HERE TOO. THE NEWS IS ORIGINALLY FROM THE WSJ.

Quote:

WSJ reports that Susan Rice Was Not Alone In "Unmasking" Team Trump

As part of its daily wrap of the Susan Rice newsflow, which focused on her first media appearance since she was "outed" as the persona responsible for "unmasking" members of team Trump, the WSJ provides two new pieces of incremental information: i) in addition to Michael Flynn, at least one more member of the Trump transition team was "unmasked" in intelligence reports due to multiple foreign conversations that weren't related to Russia; and ii) Rice wasn't the administration official who instigated Mr. Flynn’s unmasking, confirming there is at least one more high-level official giving "unmasking" orders. https://www.wsj.com/articles/susan-rice-says-obama-administration-didn
t-use-intel-against-trump-associates-for-political-reasons-1491331871

.... this is where the WSJ comes in, with the new info that according to a Republican official familiar with deliberations by GOP lawmakers on the House Intelligence Committee said that the names of two U.S. citizens who were part of Mr. Trump’s transition team have been unmasked in intelligence reports. One is Mr. Flynn and the other hasn’t been identified. The report involving Mr. Flynn documented phone conversations he had in late December with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

The WSJ then reports that Rice had requested the unmasking of at least one
transition official — not Mr. Flynn — who was part of multiple foreign
conversations that weren't related to Russia.

And the punchline: "The Republican official and others said Ms. Rice wasn't the administration official who instigated Mr. Flynn’s unmasking."

In other words, the story that Susan Rice is the unmasker is incomplete as there is at least one more person exposing the identities of people in Trump's circle, and that the NSA and other intel agencies have been surveiling, accidentally or otherwise, at least one, so far unnamed individual, from Trump's circle. It may well be someone that the WaPo and NYT have already published about, or it may be someone who has yet to hit the newswire, delivering the latest twist of the ongoing intelligence-fed news cycle.

For now the answer is unknown, although when Rice testifies under oath before the House Intel Committee, we hope that all outstanding questions will finally get answers.

What I expect to hear is a lot of denial and deflection from Susan Rice:

Unmasking is normal
I didn't do it
I didn't do it for political reasons (contradicts the previous)
It's not the same as leaking

However, there are a few things that Rice will specifically try to deflect from, and that is she apparently showed a PATTERN of "unmasking" the same person or persons, over and over again. So much so that it was the PATTERN which showed up when the log was analyzed.

And there is a logical conundrum here: If the identity of the American involved in this "incidental surveillance" is masked in the raw intelligence (Referred to as "US person number one" in transcript, for example) How did Susan Rice know WHICH raw intelligence to be unmasked?

Wouldn't that be a little like reaching "blindly" into a bag of jellybeans and "somehow" always pulling up lime?
It seems to me you could only do that with the NSA's help (That Great Database in the sky). Well, I'm sure Trey Gowdy already has that in mind. In addition, the number and variety of leaks that have come out of the "intelligence" community tells me that Susan Rice isn't the only one unmasking and leaking.

And so far, despite all the poo that has been flung against the wall, the leakers and their cooperative media outlets have not uncovered anything other than "somebody talked to a Russian once", which is a ridiculous allegation since apparently ALL of the candidates or their aides talked to Russians at one time or another, and SOME of them (Podestas) have been paid a lot of Russian money too.

Best not to think too hard on THAT, eh?

===

UNMASKING

Quote:

GOWDY: Director Comey, I am not arguing with you and I do agree that culture is important, but if there are 100 people who have the ability to unmask and the knowledge of a previously masked name, then that's 100 different potential sources of investigation and the smaller the number is, the easier your investigation is.

So the number is relevant. I can see the culture is relevant. NSA, FBI, what other U.S. government agencies have the authority to unmask a U.S. citizen's name?

COMEY: I think all agencies that collect information pursuant to FISA have what are called standard minimization procedures, which are approved by the FISA court that govern how they will treat U.S. person information. So I know the NSA does, I know the CIA does, obviously the FBI does. I don't know for sure beyond that.

GOWDY: How about the department of -- how about Main Justice?

COMEY: Main Justice, I think does have standard minimization procedures.

GOWDY: All right, so that's four. The NSA, FBI, CIA, Main Justice. Does the White House have the authority to unmask a U.S. citizen's name?

COMEY: I think other elements of the government that are consumers of our products can ask the collectors to unmask. The unmasking resides with those who collected the information.

Never underestimate Trey Gowdy, he's one really smart prosecutor. He was building a case even when he was questioning Comey.

=====

Well, anyway, I've gone upstream a bit to explain why I'm sure that all of this unmasking and leaking indicates cooperation at the highest levels by the NSA ... as well as the existence of their Great Database in the Sky (or, in this case, their Great Data Center near Bluffdale, UT. Hey, they didn't build that exabyte data storage center for shits and giggles, yanno!)

But in addition to the mechanics of surveillance and data storage, I have to wonder .... WHY did the "intelligence community" and their "media partners" pick this fight with Trump?

I mean, they're throwing their ALL into this thing, to the point of unmasking themselves (Susan Rice, Brennan, etc.) and potentially discrediting the parts of the MSM that are cooperating with them. If this blows open it will be bigger than when the "WMD" story did, and take down a lot more reporters and spooks.

So what's their big beef with Trump? Out of all of the things that Trump promised - and he promised a lot!- bringing the deep state to heel wasn't one of them. I think Trump would have been willing to live and let live, but the deep state is acting like he poses some sort of existential threat. Curious, and needs more thought.

Deep state, deep state, that’s all SIG talks about. What she doesn’t say is deep state is a term used to describe a movement in Turkey. A movement that has the goal of destroying and dismantling its democratic institutions.

That’s also Putin’s’ agenda globally. An agenda SIG promotes here religiously. If deep state did exist in America, Trump and his staff best represent an anti-democratic culture. Trump has worked to undermine our free press. He has worked to undermine all three bodies of our government. He seems determined to destroy the creditability of our intelligence agencies.

Steve Bannon, one of Trumps top advisors said himself he is a Stalinist. That his goal is to bring down the government. Bringing down the government is a lot different than making it function like it was intended. One is the goal of a Patriot, the other is treasonous.

SIG claims to be American while promoting Putin’s’ agenda here. She fights to legitimize all those like Trump who act treasonously wittingly or unwittingly. SIG does it wittingly.

GSTRING, if the intelligence agencies have weaponized info on Trump, there is a very simple way that they shut this down: They go to him and say - We have info on you that will ruin your administration/ family. If you continue we will ruin you.

End of story.

The fact that this is a very messy public fight tell me that neither side has a clear advantage .

THAT is enough to start a fight which might actually destroy America's democratic institutions and start a mini civil war? Because he sort of called them a name, once? Just to make my point clear: There has to be something a lot more at stake for this very public fight to be taking place, where parts of the deep state and their allies in the press (who depend on secrecy for effectiveness) to start coming out in the open.

The last time this happened, the only person who paid was Judith Miller of the NYT. GWB and Cheney never did pay for their treason.

Who is M52's sock puppet? I know that for a while it was a "thing" to ID posters as sockpuppets, but that was something I was never good at so I decided to take people's IDs at face value. I have to say I AM surprised that PIZMOBACH = G. "G" seems to have adopted a new personality as well as a new name.

That's funny because I never put you on a let-right spectrum. You used to come up with some pretty out-pf-the-box observations which I thought were really insightful. Like the time to influence the elections is before/at the primaries. That has really stuck with me.

I HAVE traded in my assumption that big government is the answer to our problems, tho. That kind of thinking means that bigger governments are better governments (because they can solve bigger problems) but looking at how corrupted OUR government is - both parties - made me realize that a one-world government would have more of the downsides of our current government but "Now with more corruption and less accountability"!

I'm going to again recommend the first half of the first book of Rissa Kerguelen by Busby, if you want to think about how that plays out.

You'll have to refresh my memory because the only poster that I went after - a regret now- was RAPPY. )I don't regret disagreeing with RAPPY, but this forum did kind of turn into a punch-and-judy show, so I try not to do that anymore)

SIG suffers delusions, it's disturbing. In SIG's case part of her delusions are irrational beliefs. She displays a high level of conviction and refuses to change her opinions. Even when she is exposed to proof that contradicts her. Her delusions are plausible because there is a possibility they could actually occur, but only a small portion of the time. She sees spooks and conspiracies everywhere.

She should seek help.

Ethics panel opens investigation into Nunes

The House Ethics Committee announced Thursday that it is investigating whether Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) made unauthorized disclosures of classified information while overseeing his panel’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

A joint statement from House Ethics Committee Chairwoman Susan Brooks
(R-Ind.) and the panel’s ranking Democrat, Rep. Ted Deutch (Fla.), said the investigation will focus on whether Nunes violated federal law and the chamber’s rules during a press conference where he announced that intelligence agencies incidentally collected information about associates of President Trump.

Here's the summary:
Dems, led by Obama spying on Team Trump under guise of National Security, and feeding juicy details to Hilliary Campaign.
Dems upset that GOP started catching on to their crimes.
Dems tried to deflect by blaming Trump of hacking the election, when they knew that THEY (Dems) were the ones doin it.
Dems tried to deflect by claiming Nunes should recuse himself - before it was too late and he found out the truth about the Dems all spying on and wiretapping Trump illegally.
Dems upset that Nunes found out their dirty secret, that they all knew about Obama's illegal wiretapping of Trump.
Dems upset that, once Nunes found out, he didn't share with them, the guilty Dems, what he learned, but he went to the victim (and the current Commander-in-Chief) and laid out the guilt of the Dems.
So, the Dems are having a hissy fit because they were committing crimes, treason, violating Constitutionally guaranteed privacies, they got caught red-handed, they tried to deflect and claim that the innocent victims were the perps while knowing that they, the perp Dems, were in fact the guilty, and worst of all, now reasonable people all across the fruited plain know about it.

Fortunately, it won't matter to hard core Libtards - no crime is too criminal for the Dems to commit.

Clear?

French presidential front-runner Macron urges military intervention in Syria

PARIS (Reuters) - French centrist Emmanuel Macron sought to establish his presidential credentials on Thursday by calling for international military intervention against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad if he is proved to have used chemical weapons.

The former economy minister is favorite to win France's presidential election but faces criticism from his opponents that he is too inexperienced for the top job.

Macron, 39, interviewed for 2-1/2 hours on France 2 television, took a tough stance on the top foreign policy issue of the day, calling for military intervention against Assad if his government was found to have carried out a suspected chemical attack that killed at least 70 people on Tuesday.

And as it turns out, GCHQ DID "share" information with the NSA and Obama about Trump. What the story tells me is several things ...

Quote:

The Guardian said it understood that GCHQ at no point conducted any targeted operation against Mr Trump or members of his team and that the agency had not been proactively seeking information.

No, of course not. There's just a whole lot of "un-targeted" surveillance going on!

Quote:

The claims are highly sensitive after Mr Trump last month alleged that President Barack Obama had illegally “wiretapped” him in Trump Tower.
Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 4, 2017

His press secretary Sean Spicer then cited a media report claiming the bugging had been carried out by GCHQ.

Well, yes. But not at Trump Tower.

Quote:

The allegation drew an extremely rare denial from GCHQ, which said the claim was “utterly ridiculous and should be ignored”, while Britain’s ambassador Sir Kim Darroch was given an assurance that it would not be repeated by the White House.

GCHQ merely declined to comment on the latest claims. A spokesman said: “It is long-standing policy that we do not comment on intelligence matters.”

According to The Guardian, the FBI and the CIA were slow to pick up on the extent of the contacts between Mr Trump’s team and the Russians in the run-up to last year’s presidential election – in part because US law bans them from monitoring the private communications of US citizens without a warrant.

Oy! Tell me another story!

Quote:

“It looks like the (US) agencies were asleep,” The Guardian quoted one source as saying. “They (the European agencies) were saying: ‘There are contacts going on between people close to Mr Trump and people we believe are Russian intelligence agents. You should be wary of this.’ “The message was: ‘Watch out. There’s something not right here.'”

GCHQ’s then head, Robert Hannigan, was said to have passed material directly to CIA chief John Brennan in the summer of 2016. After what was said to be a slow start, Mr Brennan used the intelligence to launch a major inter-agency investigation.

Now, this is the part where they fail to mention
(1) Trump was right and
(2) Morell - former acting CIA director, said - "On the question of the Trump campaign conspiring with the Russians here, there is smoke, but there is no fire, at all," Morell said at an event sponsored by the Cipher Brief, an intelligence web site. "There's no little campfire, there's no little candle, there's no spark. And there's a lot of people looking for it."

Quote:

A number of inquiries are now under way in Washington into Trump campaign officials and Moscow, including an FBI-led counter-espionage investigation and inquiries by both the House and Senate intelligence committees.
Which so far, despite across-the-pond surveillance-sharing, plus all of the interest from BEFORE the election, they still haven't found anything?
