WASHINGTON — A handful of drones controlled remotely from bases in the United States and a small force of offshore Marine aircraft played a decisive role last year in defeating Islamic State fighters in Libya, the first time the U.S. military helped local forces win a key battle without civilian casualties by fighting from afar.

I guess after a dozen or so years of just killing anything that moved with the drones we were bound not to screw it up one time.

I'm guessing this battle must have been further out and there just weren't any civilians around to get killed this time.

"The fighting in Sirte was in a densely packed city where nearly 70% of the drone missions were considered so close to friendly forces they needed special authorization."

It's unfortunate some here think uninformed opinions can replace facts. Maybe they should troll another country. One like Russia that targets civilians and hospitals.

Even better. We're perfecting our killing robots.

Doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

A few more big wins like this and we'll be ready to roll out the armed surveillance bots stateside!

Yanno T, editing your posts after somebody else posted is not only rude, but it's just as bad as somebody else editing your own posts and misquoting you.

Shame the site doesn't tell you when the post was last edited like some other sites do.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

He does that a lot. I figure if it wastes more of his time, it's a good thing.
