The usual unnamed officials, anonymous sources, and undisclosed reports.

And the caveat in the original WaPo story; "As president, Trump has broad authority to declassify government secrets, making it unlikely that his disclosures broke the law."

There's not much 'there', there.

You have turned into an apologist for Trump, have you not? Nice going, 1kiki. Trump has broad authority to stab America's allies in the back, too, and he has never grasped the concept of talking too much while his brain is disengaged from his mouth.

Similarly, it is also not illegal when Presidents kill American citizens, but it happens and then nothing happens. We live in a century free of consequences for Presidents, except for a negative story in the news for only a day, a story to be forgotten.

Didn't vote Trump, not an American...but I'm not sure this really adds up? Did he put anyone at risk? in danger? So does the media now double down crying afdter the election loss, do they accuse him of going off script and say we would believe the PotUS should be dancing to CIA/MiltaryIndustrial Complex, Soros, DuPont, British/Jewish, FBI/NSAs Rothschild tunes? doesn't this smell like another BS political story? I mean he is the President right? He can tell Russia, England, China, France, Brazil whomever hey guys we're planning on building a secret science base in Antarctica and another base on Mars! because once the president does it is no longer classified. He's at the top of the classification hierarchy, he can tell everyone else h's building new subs, new hacking tech, new missiles, new super computers and 8,000 nukes. He is president has the right to know all and declassify whatever he likes, he can tell certain foreign diplomats that's he's going to wage a propaganda war on Cuba and balloon drop leaflets on the Cubans. He can do this why? Because he's the damn President!? Do we not remember hillary literally said in the debate how long, how many exact minutes the US's reaction time would be to a nuclear strike effectively giving all of America's enemies where they need to launch nukes from to ensure that the USA can't intercept them. and the media gave her a pass, difference being she was not the President and had no right to share this information with the world,

So, if Trump shared Sooper Dooper Most Holiest of Top Secretest Intelligence about Taliban or ISIS with, say, UK or Canada, should we get our panties in a wad?
I've heard Trump's implication that, in the war on Terror, or the war against ISIS, Russia/Putin could be considered an ally.
So, even if Trump was naughty boy to bring Russia in the loop regarding our common enemy - without declassifying the intelligence - then where is the big deal?

Seems to be even less 'there', there.

Because a Senator noticed that Trump is undisciplined and causing chaos.

Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker, chairman of the Foreign Relations committee, said, "They are in a downward spiral right now and have got to figure out a way to come to grips with all that's happening. You know the shame of it is there's a really good national security team in place, there's good productive things that are underway through them, and through others. But the chaos that is being created by the lack of discipline is creating an environment that I think — it creates a worrisome environment."

As far as I can tell, not only are you not "here", you are no more solid than a puff of hot air.

If I wanted to have a conversation I could go next door to the Republicans (this is in Baytown, Texas) and have one in realtime. At fireflyfans.net there is the time delay of minutes to days, between one post and the next, making conversation impossible. (Try making a conference call to India when it is noon there and difficult to decipher accents and time delay are killing the conversation. You'd switch to email if you really wanted a discussion AND, most important, it was worth the effort to make yourself understood because it was about money, material, and schedule, not about Trump except that he is the punchline of jokes. I hate to be the one to tell you, but someone ought to as a public service remind you every damn day for the rest of your life that you should look in the mirror and realize you're not worth much effort from anybody.) Why would I be so cruel to you?

Because there is something about Trump defenders online (mostly only online) that makes conversing impossible, while it is still is very possible with real people in the same room.

For example, the neighbors, who voted for Trump, have no delusions about about Trump. The only good things about him are that he is a Republican and rich. The neighbors don't make excuses for him when Trump acts ignorant or does something stupid or stumbles through his days. That is how real people behave -- they don't make excuses for Trump. Try copying that example. You guys act like you have nothing more going on for you in the real world than spambots have. Go talk to some real people in the flesh and stop wasting moments of your life here.

I guess all those brilliant people of the past, like Émilie du Châtelet or Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier, who wrote letters that had to go by sailing ship, horseback, and on foot, were just talking to themselves. Because an exchange of ideas was just so impossible.

I just heard this possibly explosive report about an hour ago, and the media is handling this like reporting the price of pork bellies. I cannot believe this!

It's fucking Russia ladies and gentlemen!!!

FUCK THAT.....THIS IS TREASONOUS BEHAVIOR!!!

Highly classified information shared with our government by a partner. It wasn't ours to give away. It jeopardizes our government's ties to allies and international partners, not to mention it's jeopardizes the lives of spies in the field. Spies who, at one time, were on our side. Human sources are now going to clam up, dry up and go away. Who in their right mind will now share any kind of intelligence with
our government when they know it will be leaked by the president himself. One day after he fires Comey, Trump, in his infinite wisdom, privately meets with the self same Russian official, KISSMYASS, in the Oval Office.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!

Not only that, the Russian government-run news photographers and news staff had free and exclusive access to the Oval Office. American news outlets were locked out of the foreign meeting. Doesn't this smack of collusion and political expediency?
Who the fuck thinks this is a great idea, and who the fuck thinks that POTUS is in charge? Putin asked for the meeting in the Oval Office and Trump felt compelled to
obey the command, er I mean, request.

Just think if Obama ever even did half of what Trump has done, HE WOULD BE HUNG FROM THE WHITE HOUSE FLAG POLE.

McMasters was doing an awful lot of back pedaling in his hastily called press conference. His "nothing vital was revealed" statement felt hurried and rather weak. The White House staff was scrambling in DefCon 4 to protect the dumb motherfucking president. Putin is so far up his ass that Trump doesn't know where he begins and Putin ends. What a fucking maroon!

IMPEACH this motherfucker now!!!

Where have we heard about the mishandling of classified secrets before. Wasn't it this stupid motherfucker who repeatedly blasted Hilary for releasing classified information to the enemy? This just keeps getting worse every single fucking day, and all we get from the Trolls and other stupid motherfuckers is "oh, this is fake news." Alternate facts!!!

Please get the fuck outta here with that shit!

White House officials within the Trump Administration leaked this information. Remember, the American News media were locked out of the Russky Meeting Summit within the White House. This is worse than Watergate. Nixon is applauding the latest in the Trump fiasco known as the Trump Administration - Russian Connection.
American presidents long dead are flipping in their graves over this fucking debacle.

WE ARE BEING LAUGHED AT WITHIN THE WALLS OF THE KREMLIN!

The American media, or the four letter word you guys use, MSM, was NOT allowed into the "meeting" with the Russian officials; including the same Russian official who met with Flynn (who was fired and lied about meeting with him). This is that same Russian official.

This information about the "leak" that came directly from the president, the release of classified information to Russian officials, came from within the Administration itself. In other words, a true American working with the Idiot President dropped a dime on him and reported the latest fucking stupid move by Trump to the Washington Post. People on his National Security team felt it was important to leak this information to the American news outlet.

DAMN STRAIGHT!!!

McMasters back-pedaled and didn't deny that there were no secrets revealed. No.
What he reported was that no "methods and sources" were revealed. There was no flat out denial about the "leaked" info, no, there was instead a qualification of the info released. Still the dumb motherfucker released CLASSIFIED info, that's it!

Erick Erickson: Trump’s Russia Leak Is ‘Far Worse’ Than Reported

Erickson knows one of the sources and supports their decision to go to the media, he wrote Tuesday in a blog post for his website, The Resurgent.

“This is a real problem and I treat this story very seriously because I know just how credible, competent, and serious — as well as seriously pro-Trump, at least one of the sources is,” Erickson wrote.

“You can call these sources disloyal, traitors, or whatever you want,” he added. “But please ask yourself a question — if the President, through inexperience and ignorance, is jeopardizing our national security and will not take advice or corrective action, what other means are available to get the President to listen and recognize the error of his ways?”

Erickson wrote that people close to the president find him too insecure to take constructive criticism as anything other than a personal attack. So sources have gone to the media in the hopes that “the intense blowback” may force Trump to recognize his errors.

In private, three administration officials conceded that they could not publicly articulate their most compelling — and honest — defense of the president: that Mr. Trump, a hasty and indifferent reader of printed briefing materials, simply did not possess the interest or knowledge of the granular details of intelligence gathering to leak specific sources and methods of intelligence gathering that would do harm to United States allies.

The reason you can’t publicly articulate this defense is that it’s ridiculously damning. A president who can’t be bothered to familiarize himself with briefing materials can’t be conducting high-level diplomatic meetings with the foreign minister of Russia.

I yawn also, but I have a realistic example followed by a fantasy that might wake you. Republicans in Congress have acted like lawyers for Trump, noting that it’s perfectly legal for him to fire Comey or give top secrets to Sergei Lavrov. The legality of Trump’s actions is precisely the problem.

The president has a lot of legal authority. Authority that can be misused. Trump could, for example, have his enemies killed and then pardon the killers, and it would be perfectly legal. Are you awake now? I suggest the Clintons for assassination. It would be a real crowd pleaser in certain crowds.

He leaked classified info dumbf@ck. So.... it would be illegal for MSM to report exactly what that was if they know. Do just a little reading as opposed to having opinions based on total ignorance and you would have discovered that what was leaked was intel that brought us the knowledge that isis was interested in using laptops to bring down commercial airliners. That info was discovered only through the sacrifice and dedication that an undercover agent from an allied country (Israel) risked their life to bring us. That knowledge could help isis find the agent and remove their head. And Trump treated it like a fortune from a fortune cookie cuz he's a dumbass old piece of shit trying to score points with his Russian besties.

He allegedly leaked info, and his top advisors deny that he did. It's rather convenient that nobody can know what it is about, so the claim is completely unverifiable by anybody.

Obama's behavior must not have been a problem or else Congress would have kicked his ass if he misbehaved. But now Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are dreaming that Trump will somehow change his ways and become Presidential despite having no fear that Congress will step in to give him the beating he deserves. Trump admits that he won’t change. Congress needs to start asking what it is going to do about it.

Here you go stupid. Shit what a moron.

Trump's disclosure endangered spy placed inside ISIS by Israel, officials say

The life of a spy placed by Israel inside ISIS is at risk tonight, according to current and former U.S. officials, after President Donald Trump reportedly disclosed classified information in a meeting with Russian officials last week.

The spy provided intelligence involving an active ISIS plot to bring down a passenger jet en route to the United States, with a bomb hidden in a laptop that U.S. officials believe can get through airport screening machines undetected. The information was reliable enough that the U.S. is considering a ban on laptops on all flights from Europe to the United States.

The sensitive intelligence was shared with the United States, officials say, on the condition that the source remain confidential.

“The real risk is not just this source,” said Matt Olsen, the former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center and an ABC News contributor, “but future sources of information about plots against us.”

It sounds like the more akin analogy would be if UK gave us intelligence, and we shared it with Canada without informing UK.

We must believe Russia is our friend, right? I've heard that for 71 years Democraps have said it was the greatest nation on Earth, a utopia.

What if Hillary had done what Trump has done? What would the Republicans do? We know the answer. If Hillary had fired the man investigating her relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, then met a day later with Putin’s emissaries, then shared top secret information with them, congressional Republicans would be pounding the drums of impeachment.

That’s not happening to Trump, and the absence of chest-thumping rage from every single Republican member of the Congress sends a clear message.

What has happened ... exactly. Nothing. Somebody said that Trump might have shared information he was legally entitled to share.

Do YOU have a problem with a president acting within the law ...

But you don't care about that.

Jason Chaffetz, the finger-in-the-wind Chair of the House Oversight Committee, has requested all of former FBI Director James Comey’s records detailing interactions with Trump. Cathy McMorris Rogers from the House GOP leadership backed Chaffetz’s letter and so did Speaker Paul Ryan.

It’s an extremely modest move, but it’s a significant one. The policy of shutting down all oversight or investigation is no longer tenable. And once Republicans start tugging on the string, it’s not clear they can stop the whole sweater from unraveling. Here comes President Pence.

As Ross Douthat writes, if you “read the things that these people, members of his inner circle, his personally selected appointees, say daily through anonymous quotations to the press” it’s clear that “they have no respect for him, indeed they seem to palpate with contempt for him, and to regard their mission as equivalent to being stewards for a syphilitic emperor.”

Yanno, you're full of it, with your deep-state baloney. None of the various factors that made Trump unfit for high office vanished on Election Day. No effort was made to force Trump to divest from his businesses or put any kind of serious conflict of interest policy in place. His wildly unqualified son-in-law was installed as a top White House aide and everyone just pretended it was fine.

But it wasn’t fine. Indeed, the whole idea that it was fine amounted to little more than a vague hope that Trump would change, when of course he has not. Now Congressional Republicans may (or may not, who knows) force Trump to change. It is not the deep state, it is parts of Trump's personality are broken and he needs to fix himself or (maybe) he gets replaced by President Pence. Mitch McConnell might be able to teach Trump how to control his temper, his greediness, and his loudmouth and then all will be well.

Alright...let me try again.

The "news" that was leaked to WAPO was from within the White House Administration under our current POTUS. Someone from within the office of the president leaked this info, since, and I repeat, since there wasn't any American press present during the meeting with the Russians.

Plus the fact that this was from within the Oval office. Someone on his staff felt
compelled to give this info to WAPO. It was reported that Trump had asked both Sessions and Pence to leave him alone with Comey in the Oval Office. He had to ask Pence twice.

Now, if this news was actually false, it could prove to ruin the reputation of WAPO. That could shut down the Washington Post.

What does thou portend?

It has now come to pass that Comey kept a "contemporaneous" memo of his important meetings, and he had sent copies to his high-ranking FBI officials. Smart man.

And he is eager to testify before the Intelligence, Judiciary and Select Committees.

This does not bode well for our merry little traitors.

Once again, no actual evidence? Just some notes jotted down by a disgruntled ex employee??? I'm sure he didn't have motive.

Why isn't there any actual evidence? Why haven't we heard a tape of Trump saying damning things on the phone or while traveling on a bus?

Every Democrat in Congress, except maybe Bernie, would impeach Trump immediately based only upon gossip that is already available. Trump thinks he is safe because he has the Republicans in Congress on his side, but they voted to impeach Bill Clinton based on gossip. If the Republicans get the signal from Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan that President Pence would make an excellent replacement for Trump, it is the end. Trump does not believe it could happen to him. That delusion is why he has not corrected any of his mental problems:

Isolation from friends, note 1
Irritability and unpredictable fits of temper, note 2

We have a president who makes wild accusations of wiretapping against his predecessor; blabs top secret information to the Russians; asks the FBI director to kill an investigation involving his friends; and is pretty clearly deteriorating mentally before our eyes. This is a time bomb that Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan really can't afford to ignore any longer. It's time for Republicans to step up and force Trump to face his mental health issues.

The problem is that Trump has an appetite for chaos, while Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, do not. Trump doesn't believe Congress can fire him with as little forethought as he fired Comey because Trump knows the Republicans in Congress, and only the Republicans, have to worry about a backlash by Republican voters in 2018. That's the main reason Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan haven't geared up for replacing Trump with Pence. If Trump makes a few more stupid decisions in the next few months, they will impeach him.

I forgot the 25th amendment as a convenient alternative to impeachment: PRESIDENTIAL DISABILITY AND SUCCESSION. A case could be made that Trump is nuts and thus disabled. Trump's own Cabinet, the people he picked, could remove him from office.

Yes, because control by oligarchy is so much more preferable.

Frankly, the Dems and Repubs are gorram horrible, and our policies are so self-destructive that their preferred path will only end in tears, and worse. I would rather have a few feathers fly and hear some squawking than have things continue as they have been. We need change. And change isn't always safe or easy - just look at colonial America.

Trump is not the banner-holder that I want. But compared to the people, policies, and institutions that have ossified in DC I prefer Trump. If he can't drain the swamp, let him at least stir it up a little. If he can get rid of deep state asshats and self-dealing politicians, THEN he can leave office. Drain the fucking swamp first.
