Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

You'd be right except that you're completely wrong. The "Fucking dem bots" (people I assume you mistakenly call that) have been right about everything around here. Try paying attention. If you were so interested in, "It makes me wonder what's going on that we're not supposed to notice" you'd be cheering Mueller on, because that's exactly what he's doing - finding out what went on. And not, "Oh, boo hop, Hillary lost, how'd that happen?" I bet no one here cares about her that much. More wanting to know how deep Russian influences went in the election and just how big a pile Trump is (our president).

Some of the media, yes. Definitely Fox & Co. Sorry, he's thought of as "the most powerful man in the world" so what he says does matter. Maybe not to you, but to much of the world it does so it is important. I agree that some of the stuff reported about Trump is as stupid as he is - zero sum. Lesson learned: MSM is only useful for what "What happened today" a fire, a shooting, stocks up/down... stuff like that. The why of things and the shady crooked crap Trump has been up to? You generally have to look elsewhere for that. There's a lot of cross pollination going on. Some small news sites re-report what the better ones report, on and on. The information is out there, just depends on whether people give a sh*t to look for it. I guarantee Trump supporters just don't care - that's their default setting.

More wanting to know how deep Russian influences went in the election and just how big a pile Trump is (our president). I'm glad investigations are happening. Great. As I said, lock them all up on both sides. I'm not talking about Hillary. What I mean about what's going on under the radar is things that are completely and totally unrelated to Trump or Russia. The media has been so obsessed with Trump that I think everyone is looking at things that don't really matter and nobody is watching stuff that is going to matter much more down the road. David Copperfield is in the house, and Trump is his biggest prop. He's a useful idiot. Just like most of the rest of the people are. And, to be fair, the Fucking Trump-Bots are just as bad as the fucking Dem-Bots. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:Originally posted by SIGNYM: Yes, it's that simple. If you are a parent, and you rob a bank, or sell a lot of drugs, or hit-and-run, won't YOU be "separated from your children" when you go to jail? Well, entering the country illegally is also a crime, and it has a predicable consequence. Ergo, don't enter the country illegally. ****** There is another aspect to this, and that is people claiming POLITICAL ASYLUM because of poverty and gang violence in their city, or domestic violence in their home. What is "political" about any of that? "Political" asylum is meant for categories of people who are discriminated against because of a policy of discrimination by their home nation, not because of general incompetence or corruption by their government, or generalized poverty. Receiving "political" asylum on the basis of generalized poverty and violence means that ANY poor person in the entire world can claim asylum, and that is simply not the intent of the political asylum status. As I have mentioned (more than once) I believe that the USA and it's "allies" are responsible for much world poverty and attendant social breakdown in various parts of the world, so MY answer to the problem of illegal immigration, AMONG OTHER THINGS is leave other nations the fuck alone. Stop trying to "help" them (R2P) by bombing them, or funding their tyrannical governments. Things may not improve there, but at least we can say that it wasn't our fault.

Wow - SIGNUMP tries to equate robbing a bank or selling drugs with parents trying to find a better life for their children. Pretty brain dead on that one, chief. I would be willing to bet that if she found herself in their situation, she would be trying the same thing. At least, if she has their courage and loves her children like they do. So very cold. You're trying to *intellectualize* desperation. Try just once to put yourself in their situation. Meanwhile, we know Trump wants to make this as TRAUMATIC as possible so that people will think twice about coming here. It's like Walmart's Pain Compliance (sometimes I think we are the Walmart of countries, so how appropriate). And it will "work," probably is "working," especially if all you want to do is stop people (non-whites) from coming here. Maybe we should start picking off a few just to speed things up? Meanwhile: President Trump falsely claimed crime was up in Germany as a result of migration and warned that the United States must avoid the immigration issues facing Europe. LIE The bipartisan push came as Melania Trump made a rare public intervention, echoing the president’s false claim that a political stalemate was to blame. LIE
