I can get to google though my startup page, but going through google.com gives me an inactive search bar.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I tried accessing DuckDuckGo and couldn't get thru either, for a few minutes this afternoon. DuckDuckGo is an anonymizer (supposedly) which accesses google.

I have icewesel up. When I go thru the startpage - which comes up with an iceweasel/ google search page - I get in. When I type google.com in the inet address bar, I get the google page but the text entry space is inactive (I can't click my cursor in it) and the search and lucky buttons don't work. I also can't get into images, but other google fxs come up, like scholar.

There may be a recently-added app that google is trying to launch which your web browser is seeing as a security threat.
