This may have been the worst movie I have EVER seen, so it definitely wins hands down for worst movie I saw in 2018:

The Predator

Believe me, the trailer is great compared to the movie. For one, it's much much shorter, and 2 - it's free. Even at a $2 BluRay rental it's too much. So many shark jumping, juvenile, cringe-worthy moments. I can't believe the wasn't the director's first and last movie.

Best Tv Series - I'm only 2 episodes in but Killing EVE (corrected - I had "ZOE") is the Best thing I've seen in a long time. Great characters, actors, story is not the most unique but definitely told from a unique perspective. It's not for everyone but I highly recommend it.

What's on your Best and Worst list from 2018?

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

We don't go to movies because the seats hurt my husband's back and the sound hurts his deafened ear, and we only watch rerun TV series. Plus, we watch them all together, so we wind up watching family friendly fare like Dirty Jobs and The Closer. It's not important to us to be "up" on "the latest" fare. But- have fun following the completely unimportant entertainment media.

Here's a hint, tho: If you go to movie theaters to watch movies, take earplugs and protect your hearing.

I haven't seen any movies from 2018.

The only new TV show I saw in 2018 was a few episodes of Counterpart and that had the potential of filling a hole that was made after Fringe wrapped up. I haven't seen beyond the first 4 or 5 episodes though, so I'm not sure if they managed to keep the quality up for the whole first season.

Oh... wait. I just looked up Killing Eve and that was made in 2018. I saw the entire first season of that one and it was great. I wasn't going to put it on this extremely short list because I saw it earlier this year and I thought it was from 2017.

Worst Series? The most awful television series?? I guess reality tv is still a thing? Roseanne was dead on arrival, The Purge seems pretty degenerate violent and dumb

Worst movies like you said 'Predator' was ripped also hated ripped I think Slender Man was some viral stealth marketing thing with some scary viral horror gif or banner spammed across blogs and boards... the Hollywood remakes of the Ringu franchise have collapsed... Emoji Movie I think is basically a 2 hr long snap chat cell phone commerical trying to disguise itself as Disney or Pixar or something?

Good I liked the New Avengers .... Spoilers the one where the bad guy kinda wins and they all die ... I'm sure there will be a plot twist like a Joss tv show but it was brave of them to do this with a Big Disney Marvel Blockbuster all the big holllywood stars dead, some people had time to catch all the big blockbusters the Superman Batmans, the Black Panther, the latest Jurrasic Park stuff, the Annihilation scifi, the Disney and Dreamworks stuff I'm going to have to wait for the dvd for most of these.... 'the buzz' they said the new Haloween and even 'Aquaman' was good. Most box office movies I miss but I do watch a lot of smaller local films the indie film and stuff from S.Korea, also catching up on documentaries but I can't tell you what year they came out. Will be catching up on blockbusters on DVD.

Best shows ... I think television might be getting good again, as mentioned above you have shows like "The Orville" and Counterpart the fantasy genre is still here with Game of Thrones style shows and comicbook stuff is all over tv. I also hear Daredevil is quiet good will have to binge watch some shows soon, Amazon Prime, Hulu and Youtube vid are trying to offer rival service to other companies. I catch the odd ep of the Flash maybe its not the best but its fun and its cheesy and enjoyable, there was also a new version of the old Twin Peaks and Altered Carbon a series based on a scifi book got good feedback. There was also buzz about Origin a TV series about a colony ship people waking up and something bad and wrong happening as they try colonize new lands the first ep online is free Paul 'Resident Evil' Anderson and Mika Watkins ...you seem to be able to get it free? I would go with 'The Orville' star trek-ish and 'Counterpart' is like a thriller spy scifi parallel Earth thing? I will go with these two, Counterpart and Orville for now as they are the ones ive seen most of.

people in this country that go to the movies, not many here, but elsewhere.

The thumbnails for the videos looked super douchey.

Redlettermedia doesn't usually put their worst movie list out until late January or early February, but I'll wait for theirs.

They didn't even bother putting out a "F**k You it's January" video out in 2018. Guess they were serious when they said "F**k You it's Forever" when they did their last one in 2017.

I've seen about 5 movies that didn't make me feel like I wasted time and money in the last 10 years, and most of them were indie flicks.

I find reviews of movies by groups like redlettermedia, nostalgia critic and Cinema Snob to be much more enjoyable than the Hollywood dreck itself.

I seriously tried, but coudnt get into it. I watched disk 1, but ran out uv patiens in disc 2 wen Villinette vizited Eve'z apartment. There iz nothing I like about this show.

The spy intrigue genre haz been played out. They are all so similar that they are like a single big dreary movie in my brain. Even Counterpart fallz into this in spite uv the sifi element.

I'v hated the 'Killing ______' title from the beginning wen O'Rielly started hiz stoopid book seriez.

The female killer karakter haz alwayz had a credibilty challenj and in this, they only offer her being a syko and not intimidating looking az an excuse for her sekses.

The action iz spars and badly dun. It haz never been a strength for British productionz.

Its a matter uv taste, but the muzik iz lame.

The riting iz very predictable. I foresaw several 'events' without even trying. The critic's blurb sez sumthing about humor, but I dont recall even smiling at anything.

I didnt like any uv the karakterz. I dont no any uv the actorz besidez Sandra O and am not a fan uv her perpetually suprized look.

Sorry CC, but I gess I haf to woc Predatorz now.

I thought it was pretty funny.

It's really not a story about Villanelle, or about "killing" Eve. Though I thought Jodie Comer was great (and was in the only other thing I saw her in, which was a UK TV mini-series called Thirteen), she was a completely static character throughout. There were times when she'd do something out of character and you'd think that maybe she was evolving, but then realize that, nope, she was just looking out for number one in the end.

The story was about Eve herself. I won't spoil it in case you ever change your mind and watch it through. But she's definitely not the person she was in the first few minutes of the first episode by the time it's all over.

Nah... It's just not your cup of tea. Not pushing it on you or anything.

It's not in my top 10 shows of all time or anything. It's probably only extremely memorable to me because outside of the first 5 episodes of Counterpart (the other show you said you didn't care for), it's the only TV show I watched at all in 2018.

I really do like Jodie Comer though. She's great.

Jo, you joyless Russian dog!

Sounds like you had a lot of reasons to not like the series before you even started to watch it.

I was the exact opposite - I wanted to like it. I'd seen some clips and heard some good reviews, at first though I was put off because I just didn't like the Villanelle (Jody Comer) actress much, just didn't click. But she turned out to be perfect for the role imho - you're not suppose to like her and even be frustrated by her obsessive, strange, anti-social behavior. I think that actress was great for that - she made me hate the character. I couldn't wait to see her taken out.

Other stuff: I liked the chemistry between Villanelle and her handler - those 2 were great together.
I do like Sandra Oh because she isn't you classic pretty tv female robot actress, although there were times when her character's quirkiness got me a little frustrated. And there were definite moments where it didn't make sense - the apt scene was one. There were others, but by that time we were in for the end.

I've not seen too many series with a female paid assassin, not like this at least.

Maybe Atomic Blonde is more your style? Tons of action, long single shots - incredible if for nothing else than that.

Definitely come back to the thread after you see The Predator! Maybe I missed something.

I go into everything with the hope that I will like it.

I also avoid lerning much beforehand so its not spoiled, so in this case I didnt even no that it wuz a spy show. Not that its an automatic disqualifier.
I liked Counterpart enuf to want to see seazon 2 wen its available.

I probably wont bother with Predatorz. Too many bad reviewz.

I woct Ant Man & Wasp last nite. Not horrible, but not a worthy entry in the Marvel movie universe.

We just started watching Brexit and True Detective on HBO. I cautiously recommend both. TD takes some time to get into, but like the first installment, it takes you in and you get hooked (or even like Firefly did). Brexit feels a bit like a Black Mirror episode - love the writing and performances. Big props to Cumberbatch for looking so drab and common.

So it's been absolutely frigid here, and no signs of that slowing down with a -19 below Tuesday night without windchill factored in.

I finally broke down and watched 3 episodes of Black Mirror season 4.

Amazing as always. Good to see some things are not completely ruined once they go from obscure gems to normie culture.

Two of the three episodes I watched so far were extremely heavy on the idea of removing your consciousness and uploading it to something/someone else, and/or the "afterlife" being played out in computers.

Normally I'd complain about too much of one thing, and honestly my least favorite episode of season 3 was about this idea, but I do find it fascinating and these stories were really good.

I especially liked the nods to other episodes that were brought in during the "Black Museum" episode which played out somewhat like 80's horror flicks like Creepshow and Tales From the Darkside with three similar themed vignettes in one episode.

I also got a good chuckle out of Arron Paul's voiceover as Gamer691 at the end of USS Callister, as well as Cristin Milioti's entire performance right down to the final facial expression she gives in the last seconds of the episode that brought a smile to my face. With all the hate that Star Trek STD has gotten since it started it's run, this might just be the best recent Star Trek entry this side of The Orville.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
