Leave it to Fux News to show us visual evidence that proves why Dump's Slat/Fence/Wall won't work. Here's the angry muppet Judge Jeanine interviewing Trump while showing vids of immigrants running around *somewhere* and... climbing an existing SlatWallFence easily. Where these vids were taken is not sourced, nor when, but what is very clear is that the SlatWallFence won't stop anyone.

Looks like fun! Thanks FUX!

Can anyone with a brain still believe anything this fugger says? Of course not!

I’m a licensed structural and civil engineer with a MS in structural engineering from the top program in the nation and over a decade of experience on high-performance projects, and particularly of cleaning up design disasters where the factors weren’t properly accounted for, and I’m an adjunct professor of structural analysis and design at the University of Houston (UH-Downtown). I have previously been deposed as an expert witness in matters regarding proper construction of walls and the various factors associated therein, and my testimony has passed Daubert. (In United States federal law, the Daubert standard is a rule of evidence regarding the admissibility of expert witnesses' testimony.)

Am I a wall expert? I am. I am literally a court-accepted expert on walls.

Structurally and civil engineering-wise, the border wall is not a feasible project. Trump did not hire engineers to design the thing. He solicited bids from contractors, not engineers. This means it’s not been designed by professionals. It’s a disaster of numerous types waiting to happen.

What disasters?

Off the top of my head...
1) It will mess with our ability to drain land in flash flooding. Anything impeding the ability of water to get where it needs to go (doesn’t matter if there are holes in the wall or whatever) is going to dramatically increase the risk of flooding.
2) Messes with all kind of stuff ecologically. For all other projects, we have to do an Environmental Site Assessment, which is arduous. They’re either planning to circumvent all this, or they haven’t accounted for it yet, because that’s part of the design process, and this thing hasn’t been designed.
3) The prototypes they came up with are nearly impossible to build or don’t actually do the job. This article explains more:

www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.engineering.com/amp/17599.html

And so on.

The estimates provided for the cost are arrived at unreasonably. You can look for yourself at the two-year-old estimate that you see everyone citing.

http://fronterasdesk.org/sites/default/files/field/docs/2016/07/Bernst
ein-%20The%20Trump%20Wall.pdf

It does not account for rework, complexities beyond the prototype design, factors to prevent flood and environmental hazard creation, engineering redesign... It’s going to be higher than $50bn. The contractors will hit the government with near CONSTANT change orders. “Cost overrun” will be the name of the game. It will not be completed in Trump’s lifetime.

I’m a structural forensicist, which means I’m called in when things go wrong. This is a project that WILL go wrong. When projects go wrong, the original estimates are just *obliterated*. And when that happens, good luck getting it fixed, because there aren’t that many forensicists out there to right the ship, particularly not that are willing to work on a border wall project— a large quotient of us are immigrants, and besides, we can’t afford to bid on jobs that are this political. We’re small firms, and we’re already busy, and we don’t gamble our reputations on political footballs. So you’d end up with a revolving door of contractors making a giant, uncoordinated muddle of things, and it’d generally be a mess. Good money after bad. The GAO agrees with me.

And it won’t be effective. I could, right now, purchase a 32 foot extension ladder and weld a cheap custom saddle for the top of the proposed wall so that I can get over it. I don’t know who they talked to about the wall design and its efficacy, but it sure as heck wasn’t anybody with any engineering imagination.

Another thing: we are not far from the day where inexpensive drones will be able to pick up and carry someone. This will happen in the next ten years, and it’s folly to think that the coyotes who ferry people over the border won’t purchase or create them. They’re low enough, quiet enough, and small enough to quickly zip people over any wall we could build undetected with our current monitoring setup.

Let’s have border security, by all means, but let’s be smart about it. This is not smart. It’s not effective. It’s NOT cheap. The returns will be diminishing as technology advances, too. This is a ridiculous idea that will never be successfully executed and, as such, would be a monumental waste of money.

This is set to public. Have a blast sharing it.

Not good for Trump when FOX shows him to be a fool. Nope, not good for Trump at all. Not good for our trolls here when FOX agrees with those who say the wall is stupid. Nope, not good for the trolls at all.

McConnell has stepped aside and is allowing for Trump to paint himself into a corner, especially since he had a package deal all signed, sealed and nearly delivered only to have the "little boy" coerced into this no-win situation.

McConnell is basically letting Donald twist in the wind because he reneged on signing the package McConnell thought was a done deal. He said, "oh, you want to play it like that. Now you put a deal together you nincompoop."

Trump made a fool out of McConnell and he don't play that.

For about $300, Mexican citizens can fly to Toronto or Montreal without need of a visa and then relatively easily sashay into the United States.

Would Trump shut down the government for a Northern wall?

Of course not. This is because “Build the Wall” and “Mexico will pay for it” were campaign slogans created by a guy who never expected to become president. Now that he faces possible rejection, the wall has become a metaphor for his identity, his very being President. As he said, he’d be proud to shut down the government — and keep it shut down for months or years if need be.

All for that Texas/Mexico wall, while the number of unauthorized immigrants entering the U.S. via Canada has increased by 142 percent since 2017. Trump will want a Canadian Wall for the 5,525-mile-long northern border. I'm sensing a Northern Wall shutdown if the Southern Wall shutdown is successful for Trump!

Yanno, it looks like fun for the whole family, almost a kind of destination family road trip "See the Great Wall!" Maybe Mexico could charge admission and then they could pay for the wall?

I will defend Trump's Wall. It is a great idea to shut up the Republicans who have been pining for a Wall for years, but only if Trump will give the Democrats something in exchange for their votes. I don't know what the something should be, but it is not simply a reopening of the government. That is a ridiculous counteroffer by Trump, much like offering not to burn down the White House, something a President ought never do. But the right wing does not want a deal. They want an problem that never gets solved.

Here is some of the wall history and a previous shutdown from 10 months ago:

Democrats Should Trade Legalization of Immigrants for a Wall That'll Never be Built

Denying Trump a symbolic victory isn't a good reason to play with the lives of Dreamers.

"But how much harm would a partially-built wall really do? Funding it would not even qualify as a drop in a $4 trillion budget. Meanwhile the potential upside of a deal, if Democrats are effective, is huge."

There's no way that El Humpty Dumpto climbed that wall by himself. He can't even climb his fat ass on a treadmill.

Anybody got the video where the helicopter dropped him on there in a harness before they shot this?

My suggestion to the multi-national corporations that own our prison population is to stop building fences around them. They're a complete waste of money and they don't work. In fact, to counterbalance their large costs to operate their prisons in America versus other 3rd world shitholes, I would suggest that any existing prison with a fence should tear it down right now and sell the metal for scrap.

What a waste of money. What were they thinking?

Why a Texas border wall won’t deter Central American migrants

www.houstonchronicle.com/news/politics/texas/article/Why-a-Texas-borde
r-wall-won-t-deter-Central-13541575.php

On his way to McAllen this month, Trump warned of another major caravan forming in Honduras. “A sensor isn’t going to stop it,” Trump said. “But you know what’s going to stop it in its tracks? A nice, powerful wall.”

Asylum seekers coming across the border from Mexico in South Texas have recently devised a new system for defeating the tall barrier fences that were built to keep them out.

“They’ll actually walk up to the border wall, where there are gates,” said Jodi Goodwin, an immigration attorney in Harlingen, Tex. “They know those gates have cameras. So they’ll just wave at the cameras to notify the Border Patrol, ‘We’re here!’”

“They don’t have to worry about getting over a wall,” she continued. “To them, the wall is completely irrelevant.”

“The barrier is going to do nothing to prevent these asylum seekers from crossing here in South Texas,” said Rick Cavazos, the mayor of Los Indios, a border town of 1,100 in the Rio Grande Valley.

“If they’re true asylum seekers, they’re not trying to hide or get away,” Cavazos, a former Border Patrol supervisor, said. “They know they’re going to be brought in, given a court date, and, if they don’t have anything in the system, more than likely be released.”

“If somebody swims across the river, the Border Patrol is not going to attempt to stop that person, because it endangers lives,” Cavazos said. “They could drown. So if they make it to the U.S. side of the river, even though they’re south of the barrier, they’re still in the United States, so they’re afforded due process by way of a hearing.”

The administration has sought measures to narrow that legal path. But for many asylum seekers, the reality of the wall is more of a symbol than an actual hurdle.

Texas U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, who accompanied Trump to the border this month, has long argued that it will take more than a wall to fix the nation’s broken immigration system. “Barriers are necessary, but not sufficient to deal with the problem,” he said.
