The unexplained radio signals only last a fraction of a second and have been dubbed by astronomers Fast Radio Bursts or FRBs. The first radio burst was encountered in 2007 after Australian researchers found an anomaly in a 2001 dataset. Since then, astronomers have nearly 100 more of the short-lived radios signals including ones that repeat themselves. The discovery has led scientists to speculate whether the FRBs are natural in origin or an attempt to communicate by an alien species.

Wouldn't contact from another world be awesome. Even if it were an invasion it would at least be more interesting than most of the bullshit going on today.

And nothing brings people together like a clear-cut common enemy and a legitimate war. Unlike these nebulous pseudo-wars we've got going on all over the planet today.

I recently saw again the broadcast of a Start Trek episode, where an alien species was eliminating the human species, because we had not yet mastered telepathic communication, and they believed that defined us as too primative.

I consider Radio Bursts a potential breakthrough. Perhaps they are highly condensed, or simplified communications, which we have not yet deciphered.
If they are natural, but recurring, that is also interesting. Lightning occurs naturally, and does recur.
I have not yet ruled out the SETI possibility.
