Because despite a REAL TIME counterintelligence operation on the Trump campaign (which ran a number of "dangles" on campaigners), and an after-the-fact multi-year "investigation" (which btw used such sleazy and illegal tactics as hiding exculpatory evidence (eg an internal memo which cleared Flynn of "collusion" with Russia) in order to pressure potential witnesses) there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that any such "collusion" occurred.

Seriously, if there had been collusion it would have left traces ... electronic communications, at least ONE packet captured by the NSA, real-time humint... but there's nothing. Nada. Zero. Zip. Just your paranoia.- SIGNY

That's not true of course. There was evidence- CC

Like?

Here's a thought experiment:
If Hillary won the election and stood at a podium next to Putin during a public press conference and said, "I know my people believe Russian hacked the election, but I think they're wrong because Putin told me they were. He was very strong and powerful in doing so." (fwiw I seriously believe Putin even told him to use those words). If Hillary dissed her own country publicly to side with Putin or Xi? Yeah, we'd want to know wtf they had over her. That's not paranoia or delusion, that's basic logic.- CC

If this had happened (and the agencies had run an internationally-coordinated covert op and psyop against her like they did with Trump, and lied about it to her and to the press and withheld exculpatory evidence from prosecutors- which is illegal) I'd think Good for her! She's showing some common sense and skepticism of agencies that have lied to other Presidents about WMD, lied to Congress about torture and mass surveillance, run covert ops and false flags around the world, lied to HER about important matters like Syria and Skripal, and were constantly accusing/ investigating her about something she knew she didn't do and had lied to her about it.

The security state is out of control and has been for decades. A little public warning shot across the bow that their course needs correction would be the least consequene of their massive treason. A massive purge of the ranks and investigations and trials would be more appropriate.

And all of our other ME wars? Why did THEY happen? There was no ROI either, and over a trillion dollars were spent - not chump change! - SIGNY

It's called learning, evolving.- CC

Seriously? You're giving them credit for being "stupid" instead of nefarious?

FOR THE RECORD
This is one major correction for the NYT (2018) on the Kavanugh story
Quote:

The New York Times issues major correction to Kavanaugh sexual assault story

It’s one thing to misspell a name or get a specific date wrong. It’s another thing entirely to report that a supposed witness to a sexual assault says he remembers it happening when he has said the exact opposite...

This is where the Times report goes off the rail. The paper's Tuesday report included a passage that originally read [emphasis added]:
One possible witness is a friend of Judge Kavanaugh’s, Mark Judge, who Dr. Blasey said was in the room with Judge Kavanaugh when the assault occurred. Mr. Judge had told the Judiciary Committee that he does remember the episode and has nothing more to say, seemingly foreclosing the possibility of an additional witness interview, at least for now.
No, no, no. That’s the exact opposite of what Judge told the Judiciary Committee. Good Lord.

Here is another (2019) but it's far more deliberate

Quote:

Times Makes Major Correction That Undermines Its Big Brett Kavanaugh Story
By Benjamin Hart
On Sunday, the New York Times updated its story reporting a new assault allegation against Brett Kavanaugh, which had drawn widespread attention, to clarify that the woman at the center of the incident does not recall it.

A newly attached editor’s note at the bottom of the story reads: “An earlier version of this article, which was adapted from a forthcoming book, did not include one element of the book’s account regarding an assertion by a Yale classmate that friends of Brett Kavanaugh pushed his penis into the hand of a female student at a drunken dorm party. The book reports that the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say that she does not recall the incident. That information has been added to the article.”

Trump is what? You already know I think he'll "win." The only good thing I can say about him next to the 100 sh*tty things, is that he's not fucked anything up too bad yet. He doesn't do much of anything, really. Talks and tweets mostly. He is good at feeding his desires. He's enriched himself and his fellow rich people. He hates non-whites with a passion, and has worked hard to "clean up" this country. That's it.

Signym, are you from Vulcan? Logic has nothing to do with American politics. Most Americans do what passes for "reasoning" by using, not logic, but stories, which are powerful because they’re metaphorical, and metaphors are more powerful than literal speech because they say more than literal speech in a smaller amount of time.

Here is a story about Trump presenting himself as Rodney Dangerfield:

In 1980, you would never have pegged Rodney Dangerfield as the template for the president of the United States. In retrospect, it seems almost inevitable.

If you’ve seen Caddyshack, it only takes a second to realize the connection between Rodney Dangerfield’s Al Czervik and Trump. Czervik is this obnoxious, boorish rich guy who all the other stuck-up rich people at the country club hate. Trump leans very hard into the idea that he’s a populist billionaire, sucking down Big Macs on his private plane and dumping ketchup on the steaks he orders well done at his own hotels. That kind of character can be very appealing — especially when he riles up elites.

Dangerfield's character is definitely richer than the other people at the country club, and this gives him the freedom not to care about them. It gives him this liberating — and this is what made him run away with the movie Caddyshack — this liberating thing of ... he has “fuck you” money. Right? That’s the dream. I can have all this money and I can be myself. I’m going to get the biggest, grossest yacht and just tear through the water on it and splash water all over your christening ceremony for your nice, little sailboat.

His character is opposed, in the movie, to Ted Knight’s character, Judge Smails, who is the stick-up-his-ass, uptight rich guy who runs the country club and cannot stand him. This all came to mind, I think, during the 2016 debates, when I’m watching Donald Trump in action in the debates and seeing him go up against Jeb Bush.

Donald Trump is a pop culture figure. He has lived in pop culture all of his life. I’m not saying that he sat down with a notebook and he plotted all this out. But these archetypes come to him because archetypes are how leaders and candidates in politics tell stories. He’s like the Clampetts against Mister Drysdale. He’s Rodney Dangerfield against Ted Knight. It’s the rich guy that you want to be against the fucking snobby rich guy that everybody hates.

Particularly, in the Republican primary — when Mitt Romney came out against him in March 2016 — he played that up to the hilt. I think what a lot of the people who were attacking him within the Republican party, and a lot of the people, including people in journalism, as well as politics, thought, “Well surely, Donald Trump may be leading the polls, but he’ll never actually win.” I think what they didn’t see was that there were these powerful pop cultural archetypes that he was playing into that put this audience on his side, precisely because of the things that outraged them.

What if Trump is NOT playing a character that Rodney Dangerfield might play on TV or the movies? What if Trump is Dangerfield (aka Jacob Rodney Cohen)? You wouldn't expect Dangerfield to have the brains to take control of the White House, would you? The producers and directors of the multiyear TV show that Trump thinks he is starring in would actually be running the White House and Trump is simply a prima-donna throwing tantrums. If the producers get rid of Trump, the show is cancelled, since the audience expects Trump in every episode. Trump is sort of like Nathan Fillion thinking he is a real space pirate/president. Fillion/Trump have to be in every episode of Firefly/White House show, but the show is really controlled by Joss Whedon/GOP.

Trump is an unconvincing actor playing the President, unlike Fillion, who is good actor. But Fillion knows he is not a real space pirate, while Trump does not know he is a fake President who can't handle the real job.

Simple polling reveals Americans’ views of President Donald Trump are split by variables like race, ethnicity, age, and increasingly by whether or not you earned a college degree. (And, unrelated to politics, your success in life is strongly influenced by all those variables.)

Some other more unusual questions also reveal strong correlations, and those correlations may do more to reveal what’s really going on than basic demographic questions.

Consider, for example, Sam Gilliam’s 1980 drawing “Coffee Thyme.” Data for Progress, a progressive think tank, partnered with YouGov Blue in a recent poll that showed this image (without any further identifying information) to respondents and asked them whether or not they consider it art.

Signym, go to the image is at
www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/9/16/20856316/poll-yougov-art-ide
ology-trump

Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Go look at the drawing, first, before reading further.

Select to view spoiler:

If it looks like art to you, then odds are you disapprove of Trump’s job performance. If it doesn’t, then odds are you like him.

The Coffee Thyme Gap is actually larger than the college degree gap, which is one of the biggest and most widely discussed predictors of Trump support. And there’s reason to believe the bachelor’s degree serves as an imperfect proxy for underlying psychological attributes that are better captured by asking about art.

Signym, the article draws a connection between “openness to experience” and approval of Trump. If I was not "open to new experiences" I would have worked as a Burger King manager, same as my father. My father would have also voted for Trump. I eat at Burger King once a week, but I would not work there as a career, and I would never vote for Trump. That guy is incompetent, but he does maintain the status quo, as do GOP politicians in general. I'm sorry to say that my father would believe in Trump, while I believe Trump has been incompetent for 40 years.

Big shocker there. The way the article was written gave a thousand flags saying that if you didn't find it looked like a piece of art then you're a dummy.

So you're left with either lying and saying that it looked like art, or just bending the truth and saying something to yourself like "well, if my nice were to have drawn that yesterday, it's a great piece for a 5 year old".

I broke the test. I believed that it was NOT the kind of art deserving to be shown in a museum, but I also believe Trump is, and always has been, incompetent. But the bigger point of the article is the psychological test to see if you are "open to new experiences", which Trump lovers tend not to be open. Trump lovers want America to stay the same, except lower taxes for themselves and higher incomes for themselves and fewer foreigners for themselves and more defense for themselves and taller walls for themselves. (Note: None of those things do I want for myself.) On the other hand, Trump haters see he was always a liar and a crook who never intended to keep promises. He has been very good at not keeping promises, but also very good at keeping the status quo.

But it really would be in candidates’ interest to directly target personality rather than broad demographic correlates of personality. And it would be interesting for everyday pollsters to do more work with personality alongside their various normal questions.

I've had a low opinion of Trump since he screwed his investors in Trump Casinos. He is still the same crook, but people with a different psychological profile than mine see in their imaginations a different Trump that does not exist, a Trump they imagine can make positive changes to the Federal Government.

Please describe to me what is different about the status quo? Is the National Debt growing smaller? No, but Trump promised that it would. It is growing at $1 trillion per year. Is the Pentagon budget smaller? No, it is bigger under Trump. Has Trump a plan to remove all illegal aliens who have been living within America for years and years? No, he does no more than what was done routinely before he was President. Did the factories close in China and reopen in America, as he promised? No. What is Trump's plan for health care better than Obamacare, as he promised? There is no plan, not even on paper. How about Trump's promise to bring coal back? That is not happening, is it?

Here is Trump maintaining the status quo by wishing to ban something new (vapping) while continuing something very old:

Donald Trump wants the FDA to ban sales of flavoured eCigarettes to children and young adults.

In 2019 (January to mid September) six (6) confirmed deaths in total were due to vapping.

In 2019 (for the same period) 2,672 children under the age of 17 were killed or injured by a gun.

Trump is Making America Safe Again.

It's everything you hate about Trump: trade war with China, scraping off of NATO, border enforcement, reversal of environmental regulation, trend towards a more conservative Supreme Court.

Just look back at everything you've been kvetching and whinging about. According to you, a lot has changed!

Now, if only peace would break out in the ME and if we would only get that promised reset with Russia I'd be a lot happier.

Now, if only peace would break out in the ME and if we would only get that promised reset with Russia I'd be a lot happier.

I'll give you an example from this week of where a "change" that Trump promised is actually "no change" at all. Trump ends where he began: at the status quo.

As he threatened to bomb Iran at Saudi Arabia’s behest, President Donald Trump also intensified his battle with objective reality on Sunday, by railing against what he called “The Fake News” media for “saying that I am willing to meet with Iran, ‘No Conditions.'”

Since there is video of Trump saying exactly that in June, and at a news conference last year, there are only two possible explanations here: The president is either suffering an alarming memory loss or flat-out lying.

Signym, you can see the videos here:
https://theintercept.com/2019/09/15/threatening-war-oil-donald-trump-r
ails-media-not-forgetting-offered-iran-talks
/

If the president has simply forgotten his own Iran policy, he could consult the two men overseeing it, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who both confirmed last week that Trump was open to such talks.

“The president has made clear, he’s happy to take a meeting with no preconditions,” Mnuchin told reporters in the White House briefing room on Monday. “The president’s made it very clear: he is prepared to meet with no preconditions,” Pompeo added 20 seconds later.

Trump’s rage at the news media for accurately reporting his prior comments came just minutes after he informed Americans that he had put the United States military at the disposal of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities the administration has blamed on Iran. American forces are “locked and loaded,” Trump tweeted, and “waiting to hear from the Kingdom” to say when and where they would like the bombs to be dropped.

Who knows if Trump means anything? Or is it the sound and the fury, a tale told by idiot Trump, signifying nothing, changing nothing, maintaining the status quo?

Just now I checked Trump's twitter account, which makes me pretty sure that Trump won't bomb Iran before the weekend, because he'd be back in Washington DC:
Quote:

Just departed New Mexico for California, where we are delivering results!
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1174006577713434624
But there is always next week for Trump to bomb Iran and finally break the status quo in the Middle East. Or maybe Trump will wait until after the November 2020 election because he doesn't really want to disrupt things, he just pretends he wants to.

Have you ever seen the movie "The Beach Bum"? I watched it last night.
www.metacritic.com/movie/the-beach-bum

In that movie, Trump is Moondog, the crazed and fabulously wealthy poet with inherited money. From Rolling Stone, I found this: The Beach Bum is not about plot. It’s about having the good taste to live like trash, or maybe the bad taste to live really well and NGAF. (“The best thing about being rich,” one character says, “is that you can be horrible to people and they have to take it.” This should be the tagline for every single day Trump is in the White House.)
www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-reviews/beach-bum-movie-review-harmo
ny-korine-matthew-mcconaughey-812768
/

The Beach Bum ends with Moondog, or Trump, setting huge bales of money on fire in a sailboat. Nobody stops him. Nobody throws him in the water. People on the beach watch as burning hundred dollar bills fall from heaven. They try to catch some. Trump, or Moondog, laughs and laughs as fireworks and as the money blasts into the sky. Then Trump, or Moondog, leaves the burning sailboat in the dinghy. That movie is pure Trump. Many things happen, but nothing positive is accomplished. Not too many people die from Moondog/Trump's inane actions.

Nothing that Trump and Moondog do is about thinking and planning. It is all pure id, the home of the body's basic instincts, particularly sex and aggression. Since the id lacks logic, reason, or even organization, it can contain conflicting impulses. Primitive in nature, it wants to be satisfied immediately.

When the movie is all over, the sailboat wreckage sinks out of sight and we are left with Trump or Moondog laughing and alone, high on something. Drugs? Or is it just the way he is? I was irritated with Moondog's empty-headed movie. I will be pleased when Trump's empty-headed movie comes to an end, same as Bush's movie finally ended. I hope the body count is not too excessive compared to Bush. Maybe he won't burn up as much money as Bush did.

Is that your defense of Trump? That he is not as empty-headed as he appears to be? In The Beach Bum, Moondog (who is Trump) actually had a glorious past where he did write books of poetry, but sadly his work ethic had fallen away once he got fabulously rich by marriage. He hadn't done any significant work in years. He was capable of it, but he was having too much fun doing nothing. When his wife died, her Last Will and Testament disinherited Moondog, unless he finishes a book. I keep waiting for Trump to finish his great Works of Art, which he promised while campaigning, but I doubt he will because he is having too much drunken fun, kind of like Moondog.

Many people in the movie liked Moondog. He had servants and friends and a child who took her daddy to the convenience store for a beer and then to rehab. Even cops and judges were lenient on Moondog. There wouldn't been any movie if people weren't saving Moondog from the stupidest things he does. He is loved. But he is crazy in the same way Trump is. He is inspired to do crazier things as the movie progresses. Moondog is not a man to see his errors or to stop talking and start thinking. Neither is Trump.

Trump's White House is a movie like "The Beach Bum". Opinions are strongly divided about how bad the movie is:

Trump doing his addled-brain Moondog imitation:

"We can't let Los Angeles, San Francisco and numerous other cities destroy themselves by allowing what's happening. And I'm speaking to tenants -- in some cases foreign people, foreign tenants -- but they have where they're tenants in buildings throughout various cities in California, and other places ... where they want to leave the country. They can't believe what's happening."

"We have people living in our ... best highways, our best streets, our best entrances to buildings and pay tremendous taxes, where people in those buildings pay tremendous taxes, where they went to those locations because of the prestige."

"We are going to have to step in and do something about it. We can't allow it. And in the not too distant future, you are going to see we are going to step in."

Trump will not "step in". He is blowing smoke full of hallucinogens.

If I kept watching it and knew where it was at now, or how it wrapped up, I might suggest you watch Flaked on Netflix instead.

Maybe you should anyhow. At least Will Arnett's character puts up the illusion he's trying to improve his life, even if he isn't genuine about it. Who knows, maybe he finally will (or already did).

I didn't watch any of Trump's reality TV, or much reality TV at all besides some episodes of The Real World when I was 11 years old.

I hate Hollywood and I'm not fond of rich people. I don't believe the Beach Bum is going to speak to me at all. I can't think of a movie outside of modern horror and/or violence porn that I have less interest in seeing at all based off of your reviews.

There are many ingredients to Trump. He is a fruitcake full of nuts. Just to pull two weirdo elements to his personal story from today:

Trump cannot be trusted to leave when his term is over
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/09/joshua-geltzer-election-pe
aceful-transition-of-power-donald-trump.html

Trump cannot be trusted to give Congress the Full Mueller Report, without redactions

earing-mueller-report-grand-jury.html

Then there is Iran. By next week Trump will have forgotten his threats from last week. Also this week he's gonna do something about California homelessness, but next week he will have forgotten. Then there is Trump's income tax returns. He is fighting Congress to keep them secret, but I can clearly recall him promising many times to make those returns publicly available. Maybe he forgot? His fight to the death over his returns smells as if he cheated on his taxes. On many-many subjects, Trump is nutty in the head.

Did he do a crazy thing in the last hour? Check his twitter and he sure as hell did: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1174342163141812224

According to Pelosi, she has access to the document but refuses to read it unless everybody was able to read it. She said so in the Jimmy Kimmel show, and although the audience clapped like a bunch of idiots to that comment, Jimmy did not look very happy about that.

It starts at 4:24, when Jimmy asks if she's seen the Mueller report... even the blacked out parts.

She's so full of shit and the brain dead sodomites eat it all up.

Jimmy actually impressed me for that brief moment where he challenged her on it. But then he lets her talk right over him and change the subject and I remembered that I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel and he's an idiot.

I'm sure she's used to just saying all this flowery bullshit any time she's in public and getting away with saying something that absolutely stupid.

6ix, the reason I compared Trump to Moondog from The Beach Bum is because Moondog is loved by everybody in the movie. He has no enemies. There are many real reasons to hate Moondog and kick his stupid ass, but nobody in the movie sees it that way. Life is not a movie and there are real reasons to hate Trump and kick his stupid ass, even if 63 million people think well of him because they can't think straight. Their thinking is weak & crooked and that is why their lives have many easily avoided difficulties that they believe Trump will smooth out for them. Sorry, he can't. Or won't. Hard to tell which is which with Trump since he makes so many empty promises a day, yet is not laughed at. That tweet from today I mentioned has Trump promising Safer Cheaper more environmentally friendly and "JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!" He is out-of-his-mind. That tweet earned Trump an ass kicking:

That's why I suggested Flake.

Sure, he's rich and lives in Venice Beach where everybody there seems to have way too much time on their hands and nobody really has a job or anything, but unlike what you're saying about Moondog, Arnett's character is coming to terms with the fact that he's deeply flawed, probably only because he's run out of money and people he cares about are being hurt by him.

I believe it's a story of redemption, but like I said, I haven't finished it. I'm hoping the best for the ending of that show. Hopefully there isn't any viking funeral with a bunch of money on the boat.

Redemption for Trump? Re·demp·tion? The action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil? Not for Trump. What Trump needs is an audit, which is a word he would fear. He is doing everything in his power to avoid an audit. If a high-priced and highly competent forensic accountant, not some low-priced flunky who Trump can fire from the IRS, counted Trump's sins, the tax bill would be enormous. I cannot prove that to be true, but Trump could prove it to be false if he would release his tax returns as he promised many-many times and then failed to deliver on that easy promise. All Trump need do is a phone call to his accountant. That's easy. But Trump refuses to pick up the phone and prove he did not cheat the government out of $billions in taxes.

It's only a minute long. Watch Trump lie about his taxes. You know he cheated because he still has not released his tax returns and the Treasury is fighting Congress over providing Trump's returns. Congress has the power to audit a President. Congress gave itself that power, and President Ford signed the bill, after Nixon cheated on his taxes:

That's why I suggested Flake.

Sure, he's rich and lives in Venice Beach where everybody there seems to have way too much time on their hands and nobody really has a job or anything, but unlike what you're saying about Moondog, Arnett's character is coming to terms with the fact that he's deeply flawed, probably only because he's run out of money and people he cares about are being hurt by him.

I believe it's a story of redemption, but like I said, I haven't finished it. I'm hoping the best for the ending of that show. Hopefully there isn't any viking funeral with a bunch of money on the boat.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Redemption for Trump?

Nah. Not for Trump. I don't see Trump in everybody I meet or every movie or TV show that I watch.

You were complaining about a shitty character in a bad movie played by a guy that probably isn't too much different than that in real life. I offered you a potentially great character on an above average show that has the potential to be great if they do (or did) it right, played by a guy who seems to be pretty down to earth and fun to be around in real life.

Let me know if you ever watch it.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Hmm... what is wrong with that sentence?

"Imagine"?
"Might be"?

Son, the one thing that's clear to me is that you spend far too much time in the land of imaginative speculation, and very little in reality, at least as far as the GOP is concerned.

There IS something different about Trump. He's a LOOSE CANNON. Very unpredictable, and you can't take what he tweets- or says- to the bank. That's why I started this thread ... because if what Trump was doing was obvious or predictable, I wouldn't have to spend so much time sorting it out.

He lies about ridiculous things. (But then, all Presidents lie. And they lie about really important stuff. It's just that they sound more believeable. So I guess you just want to hear more believable-sounding lies? Is THAT what you want?)

What I learned was: Don't pay attention to what Trump tweets, or what he says, OR WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY ABOUT TRUMP BECAUSE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT TRUMP IS A PSYOP WHICH MAKES ABOUT AS MUCH SENSE AS TRUMP'S TWEETS.

Watch what he DOES.

So far, despite an internationally-coordinated covert op and psyop to destabilize the Presidency, and bogus information fed to him by our security state (thank you Gina Haspel, John Bolt-on and Mike Pompous) and false flags galore engineered by our CIA and partners in MI6 and pressure from Senatorial GOP neocons, Trump has kept us out of yet another war. I doubt, SECOND, that you could withstand that much pressure.

I think that's quite an accomplishment.

And I think that in order to buy a certain amount of loyalty, he had to shift money to the military, because you can't have the military AND the spook agencies gunning for you at the same time.

I also think that Trump is facing pressure from the Fed, because the Fed has the ability to crash the financial system at any moment, especially with the "everything bubbles" ready to burst.

There are many things that Trump does that I disagree with but I have to give him credit where credit is due.

Now, as far as IMAGINING what MIGHT BE wrong with Trump ... just as I made an armchair dx of what was wrong (neurologically) with Hillary, I'll give you my armchair opinion of Trump: He shows signs of unmedicated adult ADHD: Needing to be the center of attention, motor-mouthing, lack of attention to detail, rapidly shifting focus, wanting to be in situations of high drama or excitement (which fits in with his history of real estate speculation and television). Also, what often appears with ADHD is a certain amount of oppositional behavior, which Trump also seems to exhibit.

People with ADHD are often very bright and can be very successful in the right environment, and people with oppositional traits can also be very successful but they have to be the boss. All of the pressure being brought to bear on Trump shows great psychological insight by exploiting his behavioral traits and turning them into weaknesses: feeding him false info (which he doesn't double check), accusing him falsely of various things (which pricks his opposition), and presenting him with false-flag crises at critical moments (which prompts unthought-out reactions).

So enough speculative psychologizing, back to reality:

Is Trump moving us in the right direction? The wrong direction? Both?

I won't be watching "Flaked" because he sounds exactly like "Bojack Horseman" and "Lego Batman". He is typecast as a cartoon character. Come to think of it, Trump is a cartoon character. He is ridiculous:

Donald Trump does not want his tax returns made public.

Now Trump is asking a federal judge to prevent New York prosecutors from obtaining eight years of his personal and corporate tax returns.

Trump’s attorneys filed a lawsuit Thursday in US District Court in New York.

According to the Associated Press, Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow says the lawsuit is intended “to address the significant constitutional issues at stake in this case.”

Trump has sued multiple times to block the release of his tax returns.

SECOND I will not be replying to any more of your pointless and imaginative accusations about Trump in this thread. I've done you a great favor by thoughtfully questioning your speculations and also providing you with thoughtful answers, but it's clear that YOU can't learn and that you continue to believe that spamming the board with contradictory and groundless bullshit is a successful propaganda strategy. Thanks for shitting up yet another thread. I won't be participating in your effort

Trump was Roy Cohn’s most insatiable student and beneficiary. Cohn imparted a modus operandi that’s been on searing display throughout Trump’s ascent, his divisive, captivating campaign, and his fraught, unprecedented presidency. Deflect and distract, never give in, never admit fault, lie and attack, lie and attack, publicity no matter what, win no matter what, all underpinned by a deep, prove-me-wrong belief in the power of chaos and fear.

Trump again tries to get Ilhan Omar killed with his Lies about her dancing on 9/11

One of the “very fine people” Trump praised at the Charlottesville riot by Nazis and Klansmen rammed his car into a crowd of counter-protesters (i.e. ordinary people) and killed Heather Heyer on August 12, 2017.

Trump appears to be angling for one of his Volk to do the same thing to Minnesota congresswomen Ilhan Omar.

Right direction on the southern border, despite opposition at every turn. He's done more to permanently stem the accustomed flow of 'irregular' border crossers than all other presidents combined by changing the motivations and processes that encourage it. Obviously he's tweaking tptb on it or he still wouldn't have so much opposition. MANY elements in the US want to exploit people living in the shadows, for different reasons and by different means; for example agribusiness (field work); food processing (especially chicken plants); politics (especially democrats looking for victims to co-opt), and commercial cleaning services (for commercial buildings where workers are called 'independent contractors' in order to not pay them regular wages or benefits); small businesses (nanny services, housekeepers, landscapers, contractors / construction for example) etc.

He instituted more scrutiny for potential Islamists. I would say he learned from the very negative example of the EU and schengen.

He's following several other countries' examples by making it harder for immigrants who use public services to get permanent residency or a green card (the example is Switzerland); and by requiring people who pass through another country on their way to the US to seek asylum in that country first (the example is Canada). And by returning 'irregular' border crossers to Mexico to wait, he's made the US's problem of people from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador Mexico's problem, motivating it to be more diligent with its own southern border.

There appears to be some behind-the-scenes work to rationalize the immigration process, formalize the asylum process, clear out the backlogs and keep them from reoccurring, and other necessary steps.

As for the wall, he's doing his best to keep his promise.
