AFAIK Haken didn't do that. Two people - you are the second one of them - apparently had their info corrupted so it looked like ... I forget, but I think it was spam. Which got dumped out of the system and couldn't be restored.

Haken is the admin, he can do a lot. But website software comes with certain "utiities" pre-pprogrammed in, so he can "repack" a database, for example, or allow or deny permissions to various users to do certain things* but it would take some deeper-level programming to insert a function that wasn't already included. Prolly have to program in C# or some such.

*For a while every poster had permission to edit the thread title, whether they had authored the thread or not. I admit, I had GREAT FUN editing other people's titles. Yours, GSTRING, I would have edited to say "I am a dick" or I make $10,000 a month being a paid troll. ASK ME HOW!" ... but Haken shut that down, drat it! Still ... my god ... imagine the comedic possibilities!!

But why would Haken go thru the trouble of deleting your account when he hasn't deleted others that are far more offensive and problematic, like PIRATE NEWS'? And even if you think he might have cause to delete YOUR posts, why would he delete BRENDA's too?

Why would somebody intentionally try to delete posts when they're evidence for a possible lawsuit against you?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't believe in this lawsuit, or the idea of it taking place at all, but on the off chance it does I would think it's a lucky coincidence for you.

I've never met Haken or had a single line of dialogue with him/her, but they seem to be just about the closest thing to pro-free-speech on the internet, particularly in 2020. I have serious doubts that there was some collaboration done to remove you intentionally. Most other sites have rules against banned members coming back under another name, so that makes me wonder why you're still here posting under that name if you were deleted with malice.

Then there's the fact that Brenda had been deleted as well. I can't imagine in a million years that she'd ever say something so offensive to somebody that they would complain to the owner and get her deleted.

Relax buddy. Shit happens. I kind of envy you in a way. I told you all that I don't go and erase history and you'll never see me going back through and deleting all of my terrible posts made at the height of my drinking. They're all still up there assuming that Haken didn't delete any of them. But I wouldn't mind if my account were accidentally nuked and it was gone, without my having had a hand in any of it.

All I can say, GSTRING, is that you must have an awfully guilty conscience to imagine that anyone would deliberately remove you from the board.

And for your information, people HAVE asked for Pirate News to be removed ... not from the site, but from RWE, and moved to troll country, because for a while he was spamming the board relentlessly. Haken wasn't asked privately (as far as I know) but there were online appeals to have PN shifted over. And yanno what? Nothing happened. In fact, for a while it was the rage to post incredibly offensive pictures (tub girl comes to mind) and even THOSE weren't removed.

I don't communicate with Haken and he sure doesn't communicate with me, so relax, junior. I'm sure Haken has a real life besides this website, and I've always imagined that his political views were more like yours than mine. I doubt that you're even a blip on the radar.

The only person who may actually have been banned might be FREM, and that's because he openly threatened people here. He wasn't posting much before, and I haven't seen him since, so it's hard to tell, but I can imagine that would cross some sort of line.

But here's a thought, GSTRING: Instead of imagining the worst (the Eye of Sauron is upon you!) why don't you ASK HIM? YOU say you've communicated with him privately, YOU have his email, just .... yanno ... open up a conversation.

It seems to me that Haken (bless him) is keeping this website alive out of the goodness of hs heart AND maybe as an experiment in free speech.

It's almost impossible to remove data from a database because everything is linked together. To go back to the file cabinet analogy ... you can remove a sheet (post) from a file folder, but the folder - and all of its tabs- will still be there. You can remove a "tab" (index) - like I can un-title a thread- but the sheet and the other tabs will be there. You can MOVE a thread, or a post, by replacing the "forum" index with another forum index but, again, the data will still be there.

Now, my guess is that there is a table of accounts ... usernames, passwords, profiles, permissions etc. If (say) your username gets accidentally scrambled ... and it doesn't take much for that to happen ... then all of the associated data (which is still ther btw) becomes unfindable.

I've seen that happen so many times it's not even funny, not just with database indexes but with FATs (File Allocation Tables) and other forms of disk directories ... data all there, but the 'puter just doesn't know where to look for it. Then if you REALLY need to recover you have to do a bit-by-bit readout and look for fragments (and keep in mind that on a normal 'puter there will be all kinds of files ... pictures, text, word processing, spreadsheets, database applications, software, logs, each one needing a different application to open and recognize it) and piece those fragments together... tedious in the extreme. Having seen that kind of shit happen more than once ... and even on this website (did you know that there was a disk crash in the early days and that the earliest posts are now lost?), slow response from the website (prolly needs to be repacked), lost posts etc ... willing to believe that shit happened to YOU.

But, yanno, if I were paranoid-minded, like you seem to be, maybe you asked Haken to delete YOUR OWN account and make those libelous posts of yours unfindable, and then whine that there's some sort of giant conspiracy against you.

That sure makes a lot more sense than Haken having a grotch against you!
