Over the last month besides Covid-19 this little province has taken a beating.

First in mid-April a man went on a shooting spree that took the lives of 23 people including a 23 year veteran of the RCMP.

The on the 29th of April a Cyclone helicopter went down off the coast of Greece. All hands were lost. So far only 1 body found and returned home for burial. Most of the crew were from Nova Scotia.

Now on May 17th the Snowbirds lost a plane and one of their aerobatics crew to a tragic accident up in Kamloops. They were doing a fly over of the whole country that started in Nova Scotia. It was dubbed "Operation Inspiration". They were on their last leg here in BC when it happened. The pilot survived but sustained serious injuries. His co-pilot was killed and she was Nova Scotian.

They sure have Sig.

The cyclone that went down was also based on its ship out of Halifax. Halifax is a main port city in Nova Scotia.

Now a massive forest fire is threatening Halifax and over 1,000 people have had to evacuate.

Wow. I feel for everyone there. I think it must be stressful and exhausting at the least ... even if everything turns out OK.

Today Cpt. Jen Casey's body was brought home to Nova Scotia from BC. The plane was met by her mother and the Governor General. Her hometown was Halifax.

Preliminary report on the Snowbird accident. Close up video footage of the plane shows a bird too close to it. The Tudor jet which is what the aerobatics team flies has one engine and the bird looks like it got caught in it. The air force is also looking at the ejection seats, seeing as the pilot survived even though he landed on the roof of a house.
