2020 started off with a bang by dropping a pandemic on our shores that saw the country going into lockdowns and brought the 2 biggest provinces of Quebec and Ontario to their knees. Nova Scotia took a pretty good hit as well with loss of people but not from Covid. Other situations were doing the knocking.

3 Provincial elections were held across country and thankfully all went through without a hitch.

The summer saw the Calgary Stampede cancelled but a small parade was held for those that wanted to see. And it moral support for the cowboys. The PNE here in BC was cancelled but reworked as a drive through with Super Dog act and the food like the mini-doughnuts. But sadly there were no whale watching tours or sport fishing in BC.

This year saw all levels of government trying to figure out how to operate with this new "normal". From city councillors to Parliament in Ottawa.

The Prime Minister and his family had to self-isolate after his wife was diagnosed. She had just returned from a trip to the UK in the summer.

December has now brought the vaccines to Canadian soil and perhaps the beginning of the end to this pandemic.

So here is to us and the world. May 2021 bring light and a return to a better kind of normal.

The only thing that affected us was the cancellation of the Evansville Fall Festival. Whole street full of booths.

I can't eat but a couple things there now, but hubby still likes to go and spend the evening walking around people watching.

I'm sure this area could do with a few less fried foods...

Also, we were going to do a real travel-the-midwest kinda vacation this last summer. Prolly do that this summer as some point...

I haven't been to the PNE in years Wishi. Used to go every so often when I was a kid and it was good fun. We liked the International Pavilion where you could try foods from around the world. We played some of the games and went on a few rides.

I've never been to the Stampede. Well, maybe one of these years I will get to see it in person and experience the pow wows that go with it.

Maybe next year I'll be able to take a trip out to Edmonton to visit friends. I kinda wanted to do that this year but nope.

May the road rise up to meet both our feet this year

We missed out on the Raspberry day parade. The rest of 2020 I don't wish to discuss. Good reddens I say.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Maybe you could translate that to American English for the rest of us.
