Since nobody actually owes anybody anything, I'm beginning to think that the debt doesn't really matter anymore.

It's all monopoly money. Backed up by nothing.

I have been wondering how much all of this adds up to. Is anybody keeping track?

I think this is the 3rd Porkulus Bill to be passed, with Dems claiming they are for covid emergency funds.

Each of the 3 have had almost all Pork in them, very little for covid related items.

What is the total of all the supposed covid legislation, and what is the total pork in all of the Porkulus Laws since Feb 2020?

Golly! I wonder who controlled the white house and the Senate while all this was going on?

Donald Trump Built a National Debt So Big (Even Before the Pandemic) That It’ll Weigh Down the Economy for Years
The “King of Debt” promised to reduce the national debt — then his tax cuts made it surge. Add in the pandemic, and he oversaw the third-biggest deficit increase of any president.
https://www.propublica.org/article/national-debt-trump

One of President Donald Trump’s lesser known but profoundly damaging legacies will be the explosive rise in the national debt that occurred on his watch. The financial burden that he’s inflicted on our government will wreak havoc for decades, saddling our kids and grandkids with debt.

The national debt has risen by almost $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office. That’s nearly twice as much as what Americans owe on student loans, car loans, credit cards and every other type of debt other than mortgages, combined, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. It amounts to about $23,500 in new federal debt for every person in the country.

The growth in the annual deficit under Trump ranks as the third-biggest increase, relative to the size of the economy, of any U.S. presidential administration, according to a calculation by a leading Washington budget maven, Eugene Steuerle, co-founder of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center. And unlike George W. Bush and Abraham Lincoln, who oversaw the larger relative increases in deficits, Trump did not launch two foreign conflicts or have to pay for a civil war.
----

I didn't see you pussies crying while Trump was destroying the economy. Why all the sudden concern now?

Remember one year after - '15 days to slow the spread' campaign shows how little the talking heads knew about the virus

The largest public health crisis in a century has killed more than 521,000 in the United States, thrown millions out of work and upended most aspects of American life.

The relief legislation includes funding for vaccines and medical supplies, extends jobless assistance and provides a new round of emergency financial aid to households, small businesses and state and local governments.

Biden's near $2 Trillion Relief Package the Largest Stimulus Payments to-Date, Plan Showers Money on the Bureaucracy

Quote:

Around $570 million will be appropriated for Emergency Federal Employee leave, $77 million to the Government Accountability Office, and $1.25 billion for shuttered venue operators. “Railroad bailout money,” Rando exclaims. “Northeast corridor: $820 million, National Network: $680 million, Long distance svc restoration: $166 million, Choo chooooooooo!”

Another $30 billion will be directed toward Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grants. After Oilfield Rando combed through the 628 pages of the “American Rescue Plan,” he ended his thread by saying:

[ Washington ] DC is straight trash. Ima finish my drink and read something less depressing.

All of the aforementioned funding is written in black and white text, and all the unwarranted spending schemes will take place whether Americans like it or not. Because the direct cash payments are being dangled like a carrot on a string, it seems that many Americans simply just don’t care what’s inside these bills. Let alone, all the intergenerational debt and inflation that comes with it.

However, the stimulus bill does not mention anywhere in the bill’s text what organization will get the Planned Parenthood funding. Transportation and infrastructure will get $90 billion, as the government plans to dole out stimulus payments to transit agencies, airports and aviation manufacturers, and the railway operator Amtrak.

Rep. Espaillat ‘not comfortable’ with pork in $1.9 trillion COVID aid bill

Pressed by Harlow, he said, “The answer, no, I’m not comfortable” with unrelated items.

Senator Lindsey Graham has claimed the money is a form of 'reparations'

The bill is expected to pass largely along party lines in the House, but there may be a fight in the Senate over the bill’s $15 minimum wage hike because two Democrats oppose it.

It would give $1,400 stimulus checks to most adults and extends through August a federal unemployment insurance supplement at $400 per week. But Republicans bristle at $350 billion in aid to state and local governments, contending that amounts to “bailouts” of poorly run Democratic areas, and say the fact that new school funding can’t be spent for years exposes that much of the bill isn’t about emergency needs.

Sen. Graham appeared on Fox News this week to blast the bill as an example of 'out of control liberals' and claimed that it had nothing to do with the coronavirus and so should not be included in the COVID-19 relief package.

'Let me give an example of something that really bothers me. In this bill, if you are a farmer, your loan will be forgiven up to 120% of your loan, not 100%, but 120%, if you're socially disadvantaged, if you're African American, some other minority,' he said.

Black farmers, however, have welcomed the money as they speak out about facing discrimination from the USDA in previous decades.

The number of black growers has been on the decline for decades, according to Boyd.

USDA figures show that 14 percent of all U.S. farms in 1920 were black-owned. This had fallen to two percent in 2017.

“That’s reparations,” Graham said. “What does that have to do with COVID?”

The American Rescue Plan sets aside $10.4 billion for agriculture support, with about half of that amount set aside for minority farmers, according to reports.

That means any farmer who has been “subjected to racial or ethnic prejudice because of their identity as members of a group” will be entitled to extra federal funds on top of reimbursements they claim for losses due to the pandemic.

African Americans own about 35,000 farms in the United States — less than 2 percent of the nation’s total, the USDA reported in 2017.

But House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) said the overpayments were justified.

Quote:

$40 billion will be appropriated to U.S. universities and $91 million for the outreach to student loan borrowers, domestically and internationally,” Rando says. $100 million for the Institute of Educational Sciences and $15 million is going to the Department of Education for both domestic and international purposes.

A whopping $135 million for the National Endowment for the Arts and another $135 million for the National Endowment of the Humanities. $200 million will be handed over to the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Rando also laughs at the $150 million being funneled to MSHA, OSHA, and all the other federal regulatory entities that will crack down on U.S. businesses.

It's not "sudden", turd. Raised the issue under Reagan. Raised it AGAIN under GWB, and yet AGAIN - even louder- under Obama. Tried to raise it again under Trump, but you liberaloids were too busy looking at the shiny political stuff thrown in front of you to notice.

Now that Biden* is proposing multi-trillion-dollar deficit spending, we are truly in the land of the horrific.

SIX: If this debt burden just affected the USA, there'd be an inflationary problem.

But this affects everyone in the world who holds dollars, which is just about everyone except Russia and Iran. Most nations hold dollar reserves because most oil and other goods are traded in the dollar, and many international loans are made in dollar and must be paid back in dollars.

So nations hold significant dollar reserves. If they see their holding turning into funnymoney, they'll (a) dump them as fast as they can and (b) refuse to accept the [worth less] dollar as payment or (c) suddenly require many times more the number dollars than previous to make up for expected inflation.

That means that everything the USA buys in the world market ... and that means everything, since we no longer produce anything ... will suddenly become unaffordable or unavailable, and us "consumers" will be faced with hyperinflation comparable to Weimar Germany.

Refusing to trade in USD would be called "dedollarization" and China is already leading the way with its digital yuan and gold holdings, to be used with its extensive dealings for Saudi, Russian, and Iranian oil; and other commodities like iron ore, copper etc.

Now, I don't believe that the deep state is just going to run the dollar off a cliff without having some sort of plan. It could be the digital dollar, or currency changes, or an attempt to swap USD for IMF's Special Drawing Rights (SDR) for international trade, but whatever it is, dollar-holders can't possibly be happy campers.
