Yes, and Alberta has now set money aside to cover ground penetrating RADAR to go over the grounds of the 25 schools that operated in that province.

Yes, Kiki. That is in Saskatchewan.

There were 140 of these places across Canada. Read an earlier post of mine to JSF.

The US is not innocent as there were 350 down there. Taking full-blood children and sometimes half-breed children, like my grandmother and her siblings because they had no where else to go when their parents died.

Got mixed up.

There has apparently been some work done on the grounds of Carlisle Indian Boarding School which was the first in the US. It is in Pennsylvania. So far the remains of 10 children have been found.

History lesson the Dakota came up to Canada to get away from US soldiers trying to take them to reservation. Some were sent back to the US but some stayed.

Further note for Carlisle as there has been 109 burials found there.

If anything good can be said about the events in Canada is that it is forcing the US to face its own shameful past.

What is it about residential "schools"? English did the same to Irish. Australians and New Zealanders did that to their aborigines. Irish Catholic hierarchy did the same to unwed mothers.

I guess, unlike prison, "school" sounds so benign. But unlike prison, residential schools, "reformatories", and mental institutions .... there was no oversight and no means of getting out except escape.

What better way to destroy whole cultures than taking the children away to "teach" them how inferior they were.

Mixed blood children were taken into these places as well. My own family is a perfect example of it. My grandmother and her sisters and brother would have grown up hearing "half-breed" usually proceeded by dirty just like full blood Native American children.

And as I said look to the US, Sig. The US is not innocent in this horror show.

You're preaching to the choir, BRENDA. The USA has its own history of genocide and broken promises to confront.

I've often posted that the best thing for the native Americans to have done with the white settlers was to shoot them (with arrows, from behind trees) and keep on shooting until there was no one left alive to take word back to the homelandabout that verdant land waiting to be settled. Unfortunately, some of the natives were much more humane than the colonizers who came to their shores.

Yes. the US does. Which is why I applaud Deb Haaland for wanting to start an investigation into "schools" down there. Some one had started one at Carlisle which was the first.

Canada is now burning, forest fires
the Roman Catholic Churches destroyed
Statues of the British Queen smashed

I wonder if they will ttack and burn the Jihad Mosques, maybe attack the Synagogue with links to Trafficking or the Sikh Gurdwara Temples that connect to Ariline bombings, maybe also Scientology could be targeted the Church of England, the Mormon or Anglican Church of Canada could be targeted?....seems the brainwashed Antifa graduates are burning down those churches while the indigenous Native leaders aren't impressed with the vandalism and burning and smashing.

Would you Janzyestown and you Jack, like to show some respect for the cultures that were destroyed on this continent by the residential school system?

Which is also responsible for the drug and alcohol problems that have plagued FIRST NATIONS on both sides of the border.

My family and others that I know who are full blood, not half breeds like mine have suffered because of this system.

My grandmother and her siblings not only lost their parents but then being in one of those places lost their sense of self and self worth.

Dirty Indian, dirty half breed. Can't be trusted.

For a half breed being shunned by full blood because half white and shunned by whites being half Indian.

Stop and think about what those types of concepts do to a CHILD's sense of who they are.

Another 200 potential unmarked graves found on the site of the former residential school at Kamloops. This announcement was made today by the chief of the Kamloops first nation. She had 3 elders with her that spoke of their time at that place. 2 Knowledge Keepers and 1 Language Keeper.

Radar used on the old orchard that was on the grounds because in the late 1990s and early 2000s, a child's tooth and rib bone were found by someone walking the grounds.

So far 2 acres of the total 200 acres at that site have been searched.

Archaeologists will be coming in to help map and possibly exhume the site.

It is.

What will be even worse is when the ball if and when it really gets rolling in the US on former residential school sites.

My heart breaks a little more the more I hear. When I see pictures of the children forced into these places, I find myself trying to imagine what it must have been like for my grandmother and her sisters and brother being carted away to one of these places in the US. Most likely by an Indian agent and whatever clergy depending on where they were sent in Montana.

In my view, it is better and better - to exposed and reveal the horrors which were perpetrated. What happened in history was worse and worse, but now exposing it is important, our version of a Holocaust.
The more we expose, the better.

Another school site to be investigated. This one operated in North Vancouver from 1899 till 1959 when it was closed. 2,000 children from the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-waututh were there. Once it closed they were sent up to Kamloops.

12 graves found. Radar will be used. The Arch-Diocese of Vancouver was at the site with chiefs and elders from all three tribes to apologize. They will and are turning over their records from the "school" which was called St. Paul's.

The building is long gone and there has been development on the site, but there is still enough clear areas for radar to be useful.
