Once you've corraled people into a certain form of communication, you can propagandize them all you want. (I take your point about having books.)

The second problem is that Americans are ahistorical. History is seen as an anchor, a shackle, not as a source of enlightenment.

But at this point I could say the same of the EU. They seem to be even more propagandized than we are.
