She's fallen to +1.1 in the meaningless popular vote today.

Joe* was up +7.5 and Hillary was up +2.7 today.

Tick Tock

SIGNY: No.
It's a video, stupid.

But what does RUSSIA!RUSSIA! have to do with Kamala???
You've squirmed and wormed, trying like hell to avoid all of the things you SHOULD be asking.

WHAT IS GOOD FOR AMERICA?
WHAT IS GOOD FOR AMERICANS?

*****
BTW- last I read, rumor is the Kremlin prefers Kamala. (i.e. the Dem party and "the Interagency").

THUGR: You always hear wrong.

Nope! Putin said it directly.

Quote:

“Our ‘favorite,’ if you can call it that, was the current president, Mr. [Joe] Biden. But he was removed from the race, and he recommended all his supporters to support Ms. Harris. Well, we will do so – we will support her,” Putin said Thursday at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. “She laughs so expressively and infectiously that it means that she is doing well.”

Putin also criticized former president and current Republican nominee Donald Trump for placing “so many restrictions and sanctions against Russia like no other president has ever introduced before him.”

Well, you can look at this several ways.
Maybe he wants Harris bc he believes she will continue to lead the USA to its self-destruction (i.e. good for Russia)
Maybe he believes that whoever is puppeteering Kamala will be more predictable and less chaotic thsn Trump. After all, Trump did back out of the INF (nuclear missile) treaty which hugely raised the risk of accidental nuclear war. (i.e. good for Russia to renegotiate treaty)
Maybe this is reverse psychology.(wants Trump)
Or maybe Putin doesn't give a fuck who wins, he's just messing with your head.

Yanno, heads are easily messed with if they're influenced by bullshit. If you stick with the fundamentals, you can't go wrong.
So you better decide

WHAT IS GOOD FOR AMERICA?

Millions of illegal aliens?
Mountains of debt?
Deindustrialization?
Profligate energy consumption?
Global climate change?
Wars on Israel's behalf?
Censorship and propaganda, shredding the Constitution?

Dood, don't you think we should fix our own house and stop paying attention to what (you're told) "Russia wants"?

Think!

Quote:

THUGR: Now, our justice department says Russia wants Trump and my choice is to believe my justice department,
Denied by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence ODNI.

Quote:

or comrade signym who says Russia wants Kamala. I think I'll go with my justice department. Too funny...
I didn't say Russia wants Kamala. I said that's what I heard. You can interpret that too many ways to be meaningful.

In fact, what Russia wants, or says it wants, or what anyone says Russia wants for the USA is MEANINGLESS. It's pointless to even consider.
If you let your decisions be dictated by blind opposition what (you're told) someone else wants, you're being just as controlled by someone as if you did their bidding.

It's a point I've tried to make with SIX too:

Running 180degrees away from something still means your priorities and actions are 100% determined by "them".

What do YOU want?
WHAT IS GOOD FOR AMERICA?
WHAT IS BAD FOR AMERICANS?

Figure that out and you'll won't be led astray again.

Well... That was pretty boring. No way it was going to live up to the Biden* debate though.

My guess is that it doesn't move the needle at all. The media, particularly those of whatever intersectional community they're going to claim to speak for will have some good feel good soundbytes to talk about, but nothing of substance was ever said.

Trump, meanwhile, didn't do much to speak to anybody who wasn't already going to vote for him. He's got some good moments in there too. Both sides of the media are going to have some good things to show their viewers.

Trump repeated himself too much though, again... on points he shouldn't have been focusing on in the first place with the limited amount of time. Especially when nobody knows if there will be another debate before the election. Harris, outside of her heavily scripted and rehearsed moments sounded very unsure of herself, appeared to need a drink of water and stuttered a few times.

I think anybody objectively watching and judging the performances would say that this was more or less a wash without any clear winner, although both sides are going to find ways to claim that their guy was the winner.

Trump could have done a LOT better.

But Harris kept needling him and lying about him like a picador, and he responded lije an angry bull. At one point he argued about the size of his rallies for chrissakes! It might have as well have been about the size of his penis: not what Americans care about right now.

He attacked Harris on a number of points: Abortion after nine months. (Notice she didn't deny it). Flip flopping on policies. The border disaster. Harris didn't explain or defend. She just slid past it, and gave the impression that none of his punches landed.

When she, or the moderators smeared him with a lie, he could have made his point a LOT clearer. Yes, he DID say "peacefully and patriotically". No, HE is not the one being divisive. Yes, his cases were never heard bc of "lack of standing". Yes, we need cleaner elections.

But Trump spent far too much time arguing about the past when he should have pointed solutions. He conjectured too much: "This wouldn't have happened if I had been President". In reality, we don't know, and I'm not about to credit him with what he "could have done". He should have been talking about American concerns and his plans for our future.

The only time I felt that he was really engaged in what the Presidency means for him and for America was when he was passionately describing how world leaders laugh at Biden, and yanno, I have to agree. We need a President who is respected as a leader, and Biden was not it.

Make America Great Again. Stay focused on that, Mr Trump, you'll do a lot better.

Kamala Harris introducing herself to Trump with an awkward handshake was the funny moment of the night.

If I were Trump I would have said "I have no idea who you are".

One thing that the media won't focus on is what the two candidates were doing when their mics were turned off.

Kamala spent the entire time her mic was off staring directly at Trump and giving him the stink eye while he just looked straight ahead her half of the 2 hours and pretended as though she didn't even exist. I don't think Trump ever once looked at her except for the moments he was addressing her directly. That's exactly how she should be treated in any serious conversation, so at least he did the right thing there.

You know the left-wing media is going to spin the hell out of this whole thing tomorrow, and Ted and Second are going to post 2 dozen articles tomorrow between them.

Let's see if it moves the needle at all in the polling. My guess is that it didn't either way.

Did you know that Trump actually has a trademark on the slogan, Signym?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Make_America_Great_Again#Use_by_Donald_T
rump

In December 2011, following speculation that he would challenge sitting president Barack Obama in the 2012 United States presidential election, Trump released a statement in which he said he was unwilling to rule out running as a presidential candidate in the future, explaining "I must leave all of my options open because, above all else, we must make America great again."[16] Also in December 2011, he published a book using as a subtitle the similar phrase "Making America #1 Again" – which in a 2015 reissue was changed to "Make America Great Again!"[17]

On January 1, 2012, a group of Trump supporters filed paperwork with the Texas Secretary of State's office to create the "Make America Great Again Party", which would have allowed Trump to be that party's nominee if he had decided to become a third-party candidate in the presidential election.[18]

Trump began using the slogan formally on November 7, 2012, the day after Barack Obama won his re-election against Mitt Romney. Trump used the slogan in an August 2013 interview with Jonathan Karl.[19] By his own account, he first considered "We Will Make America Great", but did not feel like it had the right "ring" to it. "Make America Great" was his next slogan idea, but upon further reflection, he felt that it was a slight to America because it implied that America was never great. He eventually selected the phrase "Make America Great Again", later claiming that he was unaware of Reagan's use in 1980 until 2015, but noted that "he didn't trademark it."[20] On November 12, he signed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office requesting exclusive rights to use the slogan for political purposes. It was registered as a service mark on July 14, 2015, after Trump formally began his 2016 presidential campaign and demonstrated that he was using the slogan for the purpose stated on the application.[21][20][22]

Fox News said Trump was full of shit and would lose. Trump gave his recap of the debate:

Former President Trump sits down with ‘Hannity’ host Sean Hannity to recap the ABC News Presidential Debate

Donald Trump: This debate was 'stacked'

Tuning into Fox News following Tuesday’s presidential debate, it was hard to describe the mood. Somber comes to mind—a little like you might find at a funeral, perhaps for a beloved cat consumed by a political boogeyman.

Donald Trump had just spent almost all of his 90-minute debate with Kamala Harris ranting into his microphone in a 180-degree contrast from his last appearance against Joe Biden. If he kept it together for the first little bit, Trump quickly fell into the traps Harris laid for him—about his crowd sizes, his reputation among military chiefs, his standing among world leaders—and the results were grim. To anyone watching who might have forgotten what the Trump years were like, it was a stark reminder.

When the ABC moderators finally wrapped things up and the lights came up on the Fox News panel, the anchors seemed just as rattled as viewers at home. You instantly knew things were bleak when host Jesse Watters tried to insist that there had been no winners. “I don’t think the American people are watching and thinking any of these people won,” Watters stammered out. He then conceded, “This was rough. This was pretty intense at times.”

Brit Hume, the network’s chief political analyst, was starker. “Make no mistake about it: Trump had a bad night,” Hume told the Fox viewers. “This was pretty much her night.” Sounding exasperated, Hume complained that Trump had been repeatedly baited by Harris, leading Trump to relitigate “so many of the old grievances that we had long thought Trump had learned were not winners politically.” Harris, meanwhile, was composed and prepared, Hume said: “She kept her cool.”

“You’re saying she had a good night?” host Bret Baier asked him.

“I’m saying she certainly did,” Hume said sternly.

On Fox News, the strategy delivered after the initial shock passed seemed to be to attack the real villains: Those pesky ABC journalists who had asked follow-up questions and made fact-checks during the debate, such as when they told the American people there was, in fact, no evidence to Trump’s frankly racist claims that the good pets of Springfield, Ohio, were being gobbled up by Haitian migrants.

Soon, a string of Fox News friendly faces was called upon. Looking beaten down, host Sean Hannity insisted the “biggest loser in the debate” was ABC, bashing the network’s journalists, David Muir and Linsey Davis, as “far-left moderators.” Speaking with the air of someone just grateful to be invited on television, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. complained about “the evident bias of the moderators who were fact checking constantly trivialities by President Trump.” Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida called the moderators “an embarrassment to journalism.” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told viewers he much preferred the moderating style of CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bush, because “they asked questions” and “they got out of the way.”

Eventually, Trump himself entered the debate spin room—a rare move for him—and began an impromptu press conference of sorts, prompting Hannity to shush RFK Jr. so the viewers could listen in live. But without a mic clearly in front of Trump, the audience at home had to strain to hear him, creating an even more shambolic appearance. Instead of the former president, the Fox mics picked up the sounds of others in the room full of journalists and media figures: “Why wouldn’t you look at her?” “Why not let your performance speak for itself?” Some just audibly snickered at the scene.

When Trump did eventually find his way over to Hannity’s set for the TV equivalent of a post-game massage, he complained it had been “three against one,” but still insisted it had been his “best debate ever.” But visibly sweating and with his hair looking disheveled, he hardly sounded victorious.

And it was the reaction of the Fox hosts that was the most revealing about how the night had gone for Trump. Watters even demonstrated one or two flashes of honesty for his audience; in between defenses, Watters groaned that Trump “had some moments where you were like, ‘Oh, my God! Where going with this?’” Indeed, for those Fox viewers wondering where Trump had led them on Tuesday night, there was one grim answer: “This race just got tighter,” Watters said.

So, in retrospect, I should have expected this.

TPTB have been trying to destroy Trump since 2015, with false accusations thru the media, hyped up "investigations" based on fraudulent "evidence"; unending media, political, personal, and legal persecution of Trump and his supporters; gaslighting and censoring Americans nonstop; and last but certainly not least an assasination attempt that missed by a half inch

Trump has been in nonstop "fight" mode for years, and is operating under a huge burden of stress and quite justifiable anger. And they used that against him.

Is it fair?
No.
But seeing how far they've been willing to go to destroy Trump, destroying America in the process ...

The debate solidified my vote. I'm against everything that that cabal of corrupt politicians of both parties and permanent state functionaries have been doing in their senseless, selfish pursuit of wealth and power.

Even more than 2016, my vote this year is "against". I hope MAGA Republicans will continue pursuing their goal to make America Great Again. I disagree with half of what half of them aim for, but it's a helluvalot better than what we got in DC now.

Signym, you are out of your tiny mind about Trump:

Trump Tells Republicans to Shut Down the Government Over Election Fraud

September 10, 2024

Former President Donald Trump demanded that “If Republicans in the House, and Senate, don’t get absolute assurances on Election Security, THEY SHOULD, IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, GO FORWARD WITH A CONTINUING RESOLUTION ON THE BUDGET.”

For days now, the former president — who maintains that the 2020 election was stolen from him — has been promoting unsourced claims of election fraud in 2024 early voting on his social media.

Earlier this week, Trump promoted unsubstantiated claims that Arizona, a key 2024 battleground state, is allowing non-citizens to remain on the state’s voter rolls. He also repeated claims that “20% of the Mail-In Ballots in Pennsylvania are fraudulent.”

“Here we go again!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Where is the U.S. Attorney General and FBI to INVESTIGATE? Where is the Pennsylvania Republican Party? We will WIN Pennsylvania by a lot, unless the Dems are allowed to CHEAT. THE RNC MUST ACTIVATE, NOW!!!”

Some Republicans in the House are livid that House Speaker Johnson is even entertaining a funding extension, even with the SAVE Act attached, while others feel that the image of the GOP forcing a government shutdown weeks before the November election would be a boon to Democrats.

Here is one of the strangest talking points Trump made during the night.

That Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’ pick for VP, “is OK” with executing babies after birth

Trump was asked why women should trust him on reproductive rights given how often he has changed his position on abortion. He framed the overturning of Roe v. Wade as a move that gave women more control, not less, because now decisions about abortion could be made at the state level. But he also tried to turn the tables by accusing Democrats of…er…wildly extreme abortion politics. Which led him to this whopper:
Quote:

They have abortion in the ninth month. They even have—and you can look at the governor of West Virginia, the previous governor of West Virginia, not the current governor who’s doing an excellent job, but the governor before, he said the baby will be born, and we will decide what to do with the baby. In other words, we’ll execute the baby.

Her vice presidential pick—which I think was a horrible pick, by the way, for the country because he is really out of it—but her vice presidential pick says abortion in the ninth month is absolutely fine. He also says execution after birth—it’s execution, no longer abortion, because the baby is born—is OK.

The falsehoods he rattled off about abortion were so bold that one of the moderators, Linsey Davis, firmly refuted one—”There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after its born”—before moving onto the next question, something that happened only a handful of times in the night.

Signym, you are doing what Trump is doing: bitching about being cheated out of a win. Trump claimed his election was stolen in 2020, but couldn't bring any proof in 60 different legal cases. Trump is making the same claim now. While still too early to file 60 more legal cases, Trump has requested that the Republican controlled House shutdown the government to stop the steal in 2024. After the election, he will file those cases, but without proof there was cheating, once again.

s-and-other-anti-voter-policies-will-continue-to-impact-our-democracy

Donald Trump’s claim that the 2020 election was “stolen” from him is not only a lie—no widespread voter fraud was detected in that election—it’s a lie that breeds public mistrust in our electoral system. Today, he is already casting doubt on the 2024 election, saying he will accept the results “if everything is honest.” The implication is that if Trump loses then the election may not have been honest, and that a free and fair election this November is only one in which he wins.

A second Trump administration will likely perpetuate policies that undermine our electoral systems. As outlined in Project 2025 policies, evidenced on the campaign trail and in interviews, if Trump is reelected, his administration will likely attempt to manipulate the 2030 census to deny representation and federal resources to millions; abuse executive power to suppress voting and interfere with elections; and roll back federal progress on voting access.

In a country that has a long history of voter suppression and continues to struggle with voter turnout, four years of constant attacks on our voting rights risks long-term, pervasive harm. At the ACLU, we’re fighting back. We defeated the Trump administration’s efforts to manipulate our electoral process before, and we’ll use every tool at our disposal to do so again. Learn more in our breakdown:
Trump on Voting Rights

The Facts: During a second term, not only would Trump seek to intimidate and disenfranchise marginalized voters, he would lay the groundwork to further question election outcomes that are adverse to him and his allies. Trump is likely to deploy the Department of Justice (DOJ) and other federal agencies to launch bad-faith investigations into voters and election officials, including against those he believes “rigged” the 2020 election. A second Trump administration is also likely to make good on earlier promises to send federal law enforcement to voting locations—a move that would serve just one purpose: to suppress voter turnout by intimidating voters.

Harris Exposed How Easy Trump Is to Manipulate. Dictators Have Known This for a Long Time. She homed in on this dangerous weakness.

By Fred Kaplan | Sept 11, 2024 1:24 PM

Tuesday night’s debate devoted little time to foreign policy, but a few key moments revealed—more dramatically than half an hour of dedicated discussion might have—just how much a renewed Donald Trump presidency could weaken the United States and make the world a more dangerous place.

Many noted, after the debate, how readily Vice President Kamala Harris lured the ex-president into traps. All she had to do was push one of his buttons—to remark that the crowds at his rallies are bored, or that he inherited all of his wealth (then blew it in successive bankruptcies), or that world leaders laugh at him—and he exploded in paroxysms of fury, ranting over grievances, rambling down ratholes of conspiracy theories, thrown off course from the issues at hand.

What we were seeing was the flip side of how easily foreign heads of state, especially tyrants, manipulate Trump to their favor. All they have to do is call him “Sir” (as he often recites them doing in stories, some possibly true, most clearly fictitious), and he will eat poison right out of their hands.

After showing how deeply she could rattle him with the slightest personal insult, Harris turned the tables and spelled out how deeply others can win him over with the slightest compliment. “It is absolutely well known that these dictators and autocrats are rooting for you to be president again,” she said, “because they’re so clear they can manipulate you with flattery and favors.”

Harris said all this while looking straight at Trump. Many people who have dealt with Trump know this about his vulnerability to flattery, his envy of strongmen, his puzzlingly desperate need for approval and praise. Some of his aides have recounted this compulsion in books they’ve written after leaving office. But it’s quite possible that Harris is the first person ever to say these things straight to his face.

Texas Trumptards have a weak understanding of how America works while Trump's understanding is strong. The result is that Trump is rich while they have a money shortage. Both Trump and Trumptards have a common struggle to stay out of trouble, but that is a problem with self-control, not with their understanding of how America works.

GOP pollster Frank Luntz: Debate will cost Trump the election

By Sarah Fortinsky - 09/12/24 8:02 AM ET

Republican pollster Frank Luntz predicted former President Trump’s performance in the Tuesday night debate will ultimately cost him the election in November.

In an interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” Wednesday, Luntz criticized the GOP nominee’s performance and pointed to specific moments in the debate against Vice President Harris that he noted were particularly negative.

“It was a pretty negative performance, pretty pessimistic, cynical, contemptuous,” Luntz told Morgan in the interview, highlighted by Mediaite, adding, “and I think that this will cost him, yes.”

Luntz hesitated, appearing to choose his words carefully.

“I’m trying to decide if I want to go on record, and the answer is yes,” he continued. “I think that, that he loses because of this debate performance.”

Trump faced off against Harris for the first time Tuesday night, the first time the two candidates had met in person. During the approximately 90-minute debate, Harris sought to bait Trump on a range of issues, including the size of his rallies and world leaders “laughing” at him. Her strategy seemed to pay off, and the former president frequently responded to her provocations.

Early polls also indicate viewers saw Harris as the debate’s winner.

Luntz said he thought it wasn’t that the Democratic nominee won the debate, but “I think more accurately, is that Donald Trump lost.”

“And this is not the worst debate performance I’ve seen in my career, but it’s very close to it,” he added in the interview.

Luntz highlighted moments from the debate when he said Trump should have focused on hitting Harris on inflation and economic issues.

“The conversations about people eating dogs and cats, calling the leader of Hungary one of the greatest world leaders, repeatedly missing the opportunity to focus on inflation and affordability and the complete inability to present his point of view without completely tearing into her, into Joe Biden, into whomever was in his sights,” Luntz said.

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for response.
