How many buses do you think that took?

They needed at least a dozen of them to fill up that Pimento Bro's restaurant.

I just noticed that in the polling aggregate, yesterday was the highest percentage Trump has had in 2024 at 48.6%, which also means this is the highest he has polled in 3 election cycles now.

You guys are finished.

OMG... Today was just horrible for Democrats.

It's full tilt mode from now until election day. Expect the rhetoric from the Left to get bonkers. The same people who were still wearing face masks to go shopping in 2024 are actually going to start hiding out in their crawl spaces thinking that they're Anne Frank. Meanwhile, the irony of the fact that they were just out protesting against Israel will escape them completely. They went to public school and American college. We can forgive them for not actually learning anything.

Half this country just needs to grow up. Or maybe all it would take is just one swift punch to the face. Open fist of course, for any lady that isn't tucking away 6" of meat in their Victoria's Secret best.

I guarantee you that none of the "White guys for Harris" have ever been punched in the face is all I'm saying.

Trump promises to jail critics like me

A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for putting me in jail, along with anyone else who dares to criticize his policies publicly.

More than 100 times since 2022, Trump has threatened to punish people who disagree with him, according to a tally by National Public Radio. He calls journalists the “enemy of the people,” anyone who disagrees with him “evil” and says critics are an “enemy within” more dangerous to the nation than Russian President Vladimir Putin or Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Trump’s language echoes fascists throughout history, and his longest-serving chief of staff, retired Gen. John Kelly, says we should take him seriously when he says things like this:

“I think the bigger problem are the people from within. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people,” Trump told Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures. “It should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by the National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen.”

The former president has repeatedly called for military tribunals to prosecute his perceived enemies, from reporters to former President Barack Obama.

As a commentator, I think his plan for across-the-board tariffs of 20% or higher is lunacy. His plan to gut the civil service and fill the government with his lackeys will destroy the rule of law. His approach to human and civil rights threatens fundamental liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.

Trump is talking about independent-minded people like me.

Supporters assure me that we have nothing to fear from another Trump presidency. The Republican nominee is only engaging in campaign hyperbole; he will not execute any of these plans.

I’m unsure how you vote for a candidate whose comments the public should not take seriously. If we shouldn’t believe Trump will put millions of immigrants in camps and jail his opponents, then why should we think he will impose tariffs and promote tax cuts?

What’s serious, and what’s balderdash?

No other candidate in American history has run for office expecting voters to psychically divine his or her authentic policies. Conservatives excoriate Kamala Harris and Tim Walz if they put one word out of place, but they excuse everything Trump says or does.

I suspect most Trump voters have never attended one of his rallies. They’ve never watched his hour-long speeches from beginning to end. They are voting for a brand name without testing the product.

Voters would visit the Newsmax channel on YouTube and see for themselves how their standard bearer behaves. In my family, if an elderly relative began acting so erratically, we’d talk about taking away their car keys, not giving them the nuclear codes.

Some Republicans find comfort in Trump’s diminishment, confident he will not complete his term. Americans should understand they are voting for JD Vance to be president as much as the former president.

Trump’s running mate was a shrewd choice. Vance may have less than 18 months of political experience, but he brings tech billionaires with him. Vance stopped calling Trump a threat to democracy when he saw a chance to become president.

The world’s richest Texan, Elon Musk, joined former PayPal colleague and Vance associate Peter Thiel in pouring cash into the campaign. Trump understood the transaction. He stopped bashing electric vehicles and embraced cryptocurrency.

Vance parrots the narcissistic billionaires’ libertarian philosophy. Historically, the rich and powerful tend toward oligarchy and authoritarianism because they believe their success entitles them to lead. Billionaires alone cannot deliver the White House, however.

Trump’s angry white man persona plays well with white working-class men whom Democrats have abandoned for identity politics. Add in Evangelicals committed to making the United States a Christian nation, and Trump has a coalition capable of winning the Electoral College if not the popular vote.

People with power often commit horrible crimes while claiming to do God’s work on Earth. Women once worked and wore miniskirts in Tehran, Mogadishu and Kabul before Islamic fascists took over.

As a foreign correspondent, I witnessed how quickly authoritarian leaders in Lebanon, Uganda and Ivory Coast can tear down constitutional guardrails. I’ve had secret police trail me in Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda. I’ve been arrested while reporting on atrocities in Congo and Burundi. I never thought it could happen here.

In world history, freedom is a rare and precious privilege. If you cast your ballot for Trump believing he will not take away Americans’ constitutional rights, I must ask, what will you do if he does? Where will you draw the line?

My habit is to do what successful people do/recommend and to NOT do what unsuccessful people do/recommend. It is a very simple rule of thumb. I don't know any successful people who won't recommend vaccination, but I do know numerous unsuccessful people who recommend against vaccination.

We do not care about your poor judgement of character.

We do not think that it is possible to make that any more clear than we already have.

Beyond that, the point went entirely over your head once again. As per usual.

I do have to do a better job making sure I remember that I'm dealing with a retarded person or a child when having discussions with you. My replies to you should be limited to only 2 or 3 sentences at most since you're incapable of holding any more information than that in your head at one time when shitting out another ill-informed opinion.

Trumptards are absolutely certain they know things that they don't. They are certain that Trump will win and if he doesn't that the Democrats stole the election. They are certain they can cheat on their taxes, embezzle at work, eat, drink, smoke too much, and they won't get caught, but occasionally they do. When they do suffer consequences, they don't see themselves as not knowing how to behave. Instead, they see themselves as mistreated by the family, the boss, the government, the world.

Trump won't have problems if he wasn't fat, lazy, stupid, and dishonest, but he doesn't blame himself for his troubles. In this way he and his Trumptards are very simpatico.

Shut the fuck up, dummy. We're talking about you, specifically. You are a very stupid person. We're tired of listening to whatever dumb shit pops up in that hollowed out brain cavity. We could watch MSNBC and get your meaningless "opinions" on anything directly from the source. Outside of giving free downloads of Firefly comics to an audience of nobody, your presence here is superfluous.

If that were your only character flaw it wouldn't be the end of the world, but you bring along with your pointless existence the most malignantly cancerous personality anyone who has ever had the displeasure of knowing you in your entire life resents long after you poisoned them with your touch.

Have a nice day.

“Every country in the world has dimwits and crooks in politics, but no country treats them with greater respect than we do — or with such gutlessness. Some con man who claims on a Sunday morning talk show that if the rich in this country paid no taxes, their wealth would trickle down to the rest of us, is treated with respect and mildly queried, without being reminded that what he is proposing has not only been discredited repeatedly, but known back in the old days as the horse-and-sparrow theory of economics: If you feed the horse enough oats, some of them will pass through for the sparrows.”

On Sunday morning, NBC "Meet the Press" host Kirsten Welker was forced multiple times to contradict Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) after he stated, without any evidence, that Vice President Kamala Harris is having "her DOJ" arrest her political opponents.

As part of three interviews, including CNN and CBS, Vance showed up for that were shown on Sunday, Donald Trump's combative running mate butted heads with all the hosts and NBC's Welker was no exception.

Towards the end of his contentious interview with Welker, he changed direction and attempted to make the case that the greatest danger in the U.S. is Harris and President Joe Biden siccing the government on their critics.

After attacking former Trump White House chief of staff John Kelly of being a "disgruntled " ex-employee seeking revenge because Trump fired him, Vance stated, "If he was what John Kelly said he [Trump] was then why did Donald Trump deliver peace and prosperity. He didn't arrest his political opponents as Kamala Harris and the Department of the Justice have in fact done."

"There's no evidence, there is no evidence of that," Welker interrupted as the Ohio Republican tried to talk over her.

"The Department of Justice has not been going after political political opponents?" Vance parried.

"Senator, there is no evidence of that," the host replied.

"The current Department of Justice under Kamala Harris and Joe Biden has absolutely been going after their political opponents of the current Democratic party and I think it's a disgrace, but it's happening," Vance insisted.

"There's no evidence that the DOJ is going after their political opponents. Donald Trump was indicted by federal grand juries," the NBC host shot back.

Defending our troops should be elementary
Do we really want a commander in chief who disrespects them?

The Houston Chronicle Editorial Board | Oct 28, 2024

spx?guid=f21dc49a-3815-40f6-8283-4e425f4fd859&share=true

In the North Texas town of Denison, near the banks of the Red River, a modest white house, still standing, was the birthplace of a future president. Dwight D. Eisenhower, native Texan, moved into a more spacious white house near the banks of the Potomac, but before that he was Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during World War II.

Recall the iconic photo of the man responsible for planning and implementing the crucial Allied assault on the coast of Normandy. Wearing his trademark Eisenhower jacket, Ike talks to men of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment. He knows that many of the young men gathered around him on that June morning in 1944 are likely to die in the massive assault. They know it too. (A total of 4,414 Allied troops, including 2,501 Americans, gave their lives that day.)

Imagine what the general would be thinking if he knew that President Franklin D. Roosevelt, his commander in chief, considered those paratroopers “suckers” and “losers,” as a more recent commander in chief characterized those who have died in battle for their country. We are, of course, referring to one Donald J. Trump and the comments attributed to him by John F. Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general and the former president’s longest-serving chief of staff.

Those young men at Normandy sacrificed their lives not only for their country, but also to save humanity, besieged by the quintessence of evil in the person of Adolf Hitler. Trump has expressed admiration for the man, for Hitler. In a new interview, Kelly told the New York Times, that Trump told him more than once, “You know, Hitler did some good things, too.”

Imagine how America 80 years ago would have responded to such idiocy.

Eisenhower was one in a long line of Texans — yes, we know he grew up in Kansas — who served with great distinction in the military. Standing proudly at attention in that line are Milton M. Holland, a Black man born in Austin, Texas, who received the Medal of Honor as a member of the Union Army’s 5th U.S. Colored Infantry Regiment; Admiral Chester Nimitz of Fredericksburg, Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet and Pacific Ocean Areas during World War II; submarine commander Sam Dealey of Dallas, among World War II’s most decorated sailors; and Doris Miller of Waco, a mess attendant on the USS West Virginia docked at Pearl Harbor, who raced up to the burning deck of the ship and began firing an anti-aircraft gun at Japanese warplanes.

Part of us understands why many voters choose Trump. They’re voting their pocketbooks not for abstract ideas about patriotism or democracy. Inflation, though it has eased, still hits hard at the checkout counter. Or they vote out of fears over immigration, even though border crossings have dropped substantially and it was Trump who undermined a tough bipartisan border bill. When they only get half the story from their news sources, the choice for Trump must seem obvious.

What we find hard to imagine, given our proud military heritage, is how any Texan could tolerate or excuse, much less defend, a candidate for the nation’s highest office who holds the military in such ignorant disdain. We can imagine how Texas heroes of yesteryear would respond to urgent warnings from their comrades in arms today.

One of them we’d likely hear from is one of the most decorated soldier in American military history, a baby-faced Texan named Audie Murphy. In January 1945, the 20-year-old was in France with the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, when he climbed atop a burning tank destroyer and began firing its .50 caliber machine gun at a squad of German soldiers advancing toward him. For an hour he returned fire from foot soldiers and tanks, killing or wounding about 50. Despite sustaining a leg wound, he stopped firing only after running out of ammunition. For his extraordinary actions that day, Murphy received the Medal of Honor.

There are many others, of course — other Texans who, in the words of historian T.R. Fehrenbach, didn’t like war, but “apparently had much less fear of it than was held in other places.” That description fits Staff Sgt. Roy Benavidez, a Cuero native who, during the Vietnam War, jumped out of a helicopter, ran through what his Medal of Honor citation described as “withering small arms fire” and rescued at least eight wounded men, despite being shot in the abdomen himself.

Trump has had thoughts about that war: “Vietnam would have been a waste of time for me. Only suckers went to Vietnam.”

Benavidez might beg to differ. The tough Texas hero, who died in 1998, might also have trouble with what Trump said about Spc. Vanessa Guillen, a 20-year-old Houstonian who was bludgeoned to death in April 2020 by a fellow soldier at Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos). After meeting with the young woman’s family, Trump offered to pay for her funeral out of his own pocket — until he found out later how much the military ceremony had cost.

“It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f____ Mexican!” he raged, according to a witness present at a December 2020 Oval Office meeting who spoke with The Atlantic. He ordered his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, not to pay. A Trump spokesperson denies the account.

Those Texas heroes surely would insist that we listen to John Kelly, the aforementioned chief of staff under Trump, who is also a decorated Marine who served two tours in Iraq and whose son, 1st Lt. Robert Kelly, was killed by a land mine while serving in Afghanistan. Kelly says that Trump fits the definition of a fascist because he admires dictators, has far-right authoritarian ambitions and “never accepted the fact that he wasn’t the most powerful man in the world.”

Trump says Kelly lies and denigrates him as “a total degenerate” and “lowlife,” but Kelly is not the only former top aide with a military background who’s sounding the alarm about the Republican candidate’s authoritarian inclinations. Retired Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2019 to 2023, described his former boss in a new book by the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward as “fascist to the core.”

If Milley is to be considered suspect as well, then just study the former president’s own words. Trump’s disdain for the military has been disturbingly evident at least since he insulted the late Arizona Sen. John McCain, a Vietnam war hero. It erupted in 2016, when he insulted Khizr Khan, the father of a 27-year-old Army captain who had been killed in Iraq and, most recently, in August, when he compared the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest award for valor, to the Medal of Freedom, a civilian honor. The Medal of Freedom, he said, was better — as he bestowed it on a campaign donor — because Medal of Honor recipients were “either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets or they’re dead.”

“No one has ever been as dangerous to this country as Donald Trump,” Milley told Woodward.

The general’s remark, among a number of similar expressions of concern from 700 one-time national security officials, are not typical quadrennial campaign yammerings. They are warnings, unprecedented warnings, coming from patriotic Americans who revere the Constitution and who are deeply concerned about the fate of this nation in a second Trump presidency. We can’t fathom how so many of our fellow Americans, including several million Texans, can look the other way.

CLARKSTON, Ga.—The sun was shining. Bruce Springsteen was strumming an acoustic guitar. Yet beneath the peaceful surface, the stadium packed with thousands of Democrats practically thrummed with anxiety.

“I’m honestly legit kind of terrified,” said Rebekah Williams, a 46-year-old Atlanta resident wearing a T-shirt that read “pro science, pro choice, pro wrestling.” The thought of trying to get through the next couple of weeks until the election had her on edge, not to mention what might happen afterward. Harris Gives Up on Men, Courts Angsty Resistance Women Who Scream at Children

Quote:

Vice President Kamala Harris was briefly interested in reaching out to male voters in the final weeks before Election Day. Recent events suggest the candidate has abandoned those efforts in favor of joyless fearmongering intended to rile up the Democratic base of #resistance-obsessed single ladies who scream at children. (No, we're not making this up. A deranged young white woman accosted a little girl in a stroller outside a Harris rally in Houston on Friday. "I don't give a f—, your dad's a b—!" the female Harris supporter yelled just inches from the child's face.)

Ah. More Nazi rhetoric from the idiots. Right on cue, just as I'd predicted.

Why is Murder your number 1 solution to every problem? You are such an angry, vile person.

Nobody on earth is worried about your fantasy scenario. Nobody would ever give Joe Biden* a gun. Maybe he'll try to assassinate Trump on inauguration day with a vanilla ice cream cone.

Hey, do you think they even realize when Trump throws out one of his racist tropes, what the press calls a dog whistle, that they're the dog?

It doesn't "repudiate".
It accuses without evidence.
It rumor-mongers (hearsay).
It defames.
It insinuates.
IT LIES.

Here is a list of the biggest demonstrable lies just from the past 8 years:

Quote:

Trump!Russia!Kompromat!
Covid vaccine mandates.
Quid pro quo!
The "insurrection"
Mostly peaceful riots
Afghanistan "withdrawal"
Biden, the meat popsicle President
Hunter Biden laptop: Russian "disinformation"
The wonderful economy
Border security
"Defending democracy" in Ukraine
Russia, the evil/ clever/ weak/ powerful/ semicivilized/ (fill in the blank) nation
Trump the Nazi/ fascist/ rapist/ threat to democracy

And those are just the whoppers, and not including the list that began with Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, and Iran.

I believe it's been amply demonstrated that those are lies.
Out of that list of arrant nonsense, I've only seen you push back on two: kompromat and BLM.

So, how many TIMES do you need to be shown that you're being lied to B4 you think "DUH! Maybe I'm being lied to!"
I think you're just comfortable with the lies bc you want to believe and trust "the authorities", instead of looking for evidence for and against.

What I keep hoping is that at some point, you will tell me what YOU think. IN YOUR OWN WORDS.
Not what "they" think, or tell you to think.
Bc, if you can't explain it, you don't own it.

Albert Einstein, who knew the Nazis well from living with them and listening to their words, was the most peaceful man postwar, but he could calculate the consequences when he wrote a letter to FDR about nuking the Nazis. Tacitly, Einstein advised burning the evil bastards alive, and their children, watching them die screaming. Einstein was smart enough to know that there was no point in talking to Nazis in a vain hope of convincing them to behave better. Better them dead than an endless stream of words from Nazis explaining that they are good people and those who kill Nazis are evil.

Allan Lichtman stands by call that Harris will win 2024 election. Lichtman has been told in many elections that polls say he is wrong, but he didn't change the predictions.
Here's why:

I already addressed on October 25th in the Election thread why Allan Lichtman should not and will not reverse his bad pick now.

Quote:

At least he's got the integrity to go down with his ship now though. It would only further devalue his Keys system if he were to change his tune this late in the race. And really... who could blame Alan? You guys were so busy huffing Harris' asshole for one more hit of Joy and buying into your media circus despite my many warnings against you doing so.

It sucks to have to go down with the ship like that, but he learned a lesson never to make a prediction that early again. Especially not if the race is the fuckin' clownshow we've been subjected to by Democrats in 2024.

Hopefully Lichtman missed this NBC article, or it might keep him up tonight...

In key swing states, the lines at food banks are growing longer

Or this one from The Hill...

Could we see a Trump November Surprise?

https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/4951455-trump-battleground-state-
surge
/

Quote:

If Trump closes with another battleground state surge, 2024 will be a blowout.

Improbable? As of Oct. 20, Trump already held leads in all seven battleground states. And in 2020 and 2016, he closed with substantial surges in these seven states. If he only partially replicates his prior performances, it won’t matter what happens elsewhere.

Seven battleground states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) will decide 2024’s presidential outcome — just like they did in 2020 and 2016.

In 2016, Trump won six of them and came quite close in the seventh; in 2020, Biden won six of them. In the last two elections, the margins of victory were relatively small; the conventional assumption is that the margins will again be very small.

However, while the seven states’ pivotal aspect remains clear, current and past trends raise the possibility that their margins may not be so close this time. Those coinciding trends are Trump’s current polling leads and his battleground state closing surges in the last two elections.

According to Real Clear Politics’ Oct. 20 averages of battleground state polling, Trump led in each of the seven states by margins ranging from 0.2 percentage points in Wisconsin to 1.8 percentage points in Georgia. As small as those margins are, Trump was substantially ahead of where he was on the same date in 2020 and 2016. In both previous elections, he trailed in each of the battleground states, in some cases by several points.

And in each of the last two elections, Trump surged in those states at the end. Both times, his popular vote percentages in these states made substantial jumps from where his polling had been on Oct. 20.

Over the last two presidential elections, the record for Trump’s battleground state surge is 14 for 14. In 2020 his overall average improvement was 3.2 percentage points. If that were applied to today’s polling, Trump’s victory margin across all seven states would range from 2.7 percentage points in Georgia to 5.9 percentage points in Wisconsin. He would win them all comfortably.

In 2016, Trump’s surge in the seven battlegrounds was 7.2 percentage points. If that were applied to this year’s polling numbers, he would win all seven states. but by margins wide enough to shock everyone.

The counterargument is that Trump has already peaked — that his surge is already baked into the numbers. But if we assume that Trump has already hit his ceiling of support, that implies that Harris has hit her floor. There are many reasons to believe she has not.

One is Harris’ fall in the national polls. As of Oct. 24, she was trailing in three of the last four national polls, and her lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average had fallen to an insignificant 0.3 percentage points.

Another is Harris’s high unfavorable rating prior to becoming the Democrats’ nominee. On Oct. 24, Real Clear Politics showed Harris had a net unfavorable rating of 2.3 percentage points. As recently as July 13, it was a negative 16.4 percentage points.

Harris’s sharp rise has been fueled by Democrats’ relief over not nominating Joe Biden, the novelty of her candidacy, and the lack of scrutiny of her record. These factors could be wearing off — and they could wear off even further in the campaign’s final weeks.

There is also a support dynamic that could assert itself. If Harris continues to fall in the polls, her supporters could decide to not vote, believing that she is likely to lose. In contrast to Trump, whose supporters have voted in five national contests (three national primaries and two general elections), Harris has no proven base of support outside of California. She has never run a national race in her own right.

The point here is that, should professed but unproven Harris supporters fail to turn out, then Trump’s percentage will rise, even if Trump he doesn’t gain supporters.

If a Trump surge materializes for a third time, election night could be over quite early. Trump needs to flip just 35 electoral votes to win. Harris has a realistic shot of flipping only North Carolina from Trump. Should she fail to do so, the contest will be on her turf for the rest of the night.

Trump victories in North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania could end the whole thing. Assuming he holds North Carolina, even if Trump loses Georgia and Pennsylvania, he could get to victory by winning Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada (a combined 42 electoral votes). And that doesn’t include the wildcard that Virginia could surprisingly flip over to him.

Today’s poll trend is already ugly for Harris: Yesterday, her lead in the Real Clear Politics’ national polling average was down to just 0.2 percentage points. Past Trump trends could make it even uglier. And Trump doesn’t need the full weight of his past trends to make that happen.

Note: This article was written a few days ago. Trump is now leading by as many points as Harris was when it was written.

Why did Trump have a rally in Madison Square Garden? Because he is repeating well-known history:

Trump’s Madison Square Garden Rally Was a Pageant of Lowbrow Fascism, and It Wasn’t Even Funny

The Garden hosted a Nazi rally in 1939. Let’s remember that the lesser of two evils is still evil.

By Charles P. Pierce | Oct 28, 2024 11:53 AM EDT

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a62735267/trump-msg-ral
ly
/

NEW YORK—And at the end of the day, all that was proven was that these people can’t even be fascists with any kind of dignity. In February 1939, with World War II having already begun at the Marco Polo Bridge two years earlier (although nobody knew it at the time) and seven months before the Wehrmacht rolled into Poland, there was a famous rally in the old Madison Square Garden held in concert with the German-American Bund and the isolationist America First crowd. The latter was insignificant. It was a Nazi rally.

And what a spectacle it was. There was a thirty-foot high portrait of the birthday boy, George Washington, framed by swastikas. (“The first American fascist,” declared Bund leader Fritz Kuhn). There were drum and bugle corps. There was thunder and lightning from the podium. There were twenty-two thousand people giving the Nazi salute on cue. And as a backhanded tribute, outside the Garden, one hundred thousand counter-protesters gathered ready to throw hands against the Nazis. One of them, a plumber named Isadore Greenbaum, actually made it to the stage, interrupting Kuhn’s speech and being beaten within an inch of his life by the OD, Kuhn’s equivalent of Hitler’s SS. Greenbaum survived his mauling but got arrested for disorderly conduct. There was a sense of the epic, both inside and outside the Garden. You could feel the world turning toward darkness.

On Sunday, at the current Madison Square Garden, there was Hulk Hogan, in a pink feather boa.

There was Dr. Phil, droning on and on about how the former president* was not a bully. There was Rudy Giuliani, half out of his mind, shouting about how the Democratic ticket was “in with the terrorists,” before perhaps going backstage to ask Robert Kennedy Jr. if he could crash on his couch for a few days. There was Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House of Representatives, talking about the Republican respect for the rule of law while, later, the candidate himself talked about how he and Johnson “had a little secret” that he would tell us about after the election. This could be pure bluff, or it could be the opening round in a Republican attempt to ratf*ck the certification process. In either case, the former president* put Johnson on the hook for good.

In 1939, there was Fritz Kuhn, inveighing against President “Rosenfelt” and Governor Thomas “Jewey,” to thunderous applause. In 2024, there was a podcast comedian named Tony Hinchcliffe, telling the audience that there was an island of garbage floating in the ocean and it was called “Puerto Rico,” to gales of laughter, and gaining the instant infamy that is the highest form of street cred in the MAGA movement. In 1939, at the conclusion of Kuhn’s speech, twenty thousand people chanted, “Free America!” In 2024, nineteen thousand people cheered along as the soulless husk that once was Tucker Carlson told them that Kamala Harris was going to be “the first Samoan-Malaysian, low-IQ former California prosecutor ever to be elected president.”

I do not minimize the danger inherent in next Tuesday’s election. I lived through one Trump administration*. I would prefer not to have to live through the live-action adventure Trump Unchained. But Lord above, these people are not only reckless, they are comical lightweights, right up to their Dear Leader. They are burlesque authoritarians. The 1939 rally was a Wagnerian opera in a world on the brink of war. This was a grandiose version of a drive-time radio talk show where Joe on the car phone worries that his son is going to come home from third grade as his daughter. In 1939, the Garden was filled with Americans who pledged their fealty to a leader half a world away who was already building his concentration camps. This was a gathering of Americans who have been frightened by scarecrows. In Robert Bolt’s play A Man for All Seasons, Thomas More is grilled by Thomas Cromwell on some spurious charges and More tells Cromwell that the charges “are terrors for children, Master Secretary. Not for me.” And then he leaves, having won the argument. Of course, at the end of the play, they cut off his head.

I made a mistake. I decided not to apply for press credentials and give the former president* another chance to call me an enemy of the people. I put in for general admission seating. I wanted to be one of the folks. Of course, this led to my being deluged with emails and texts begging me for money and offering me a golden MAGA hat for my trouble. But I figured that was a small price to pay for a chance to join the gang, at least for a day, anyway. So I reported, as instructed, at noon on Sunday, to join the line to get in, which was also known as Thirty-third Street.

In three hours, we’d moved about four blocks. I had entertaining conversations with a number of the folks. I spent five or ten minutes discussing Ray Epps with a tall man standing next to me. (Ray Epps is the Arizona gardener whom the faithful believe was the FBI provocateur who prompted the violence on January 6, 2021. Epps was convicted of disorderly conduct and drew a year’s probation for his trouble, but these people never let anything go.) We were all briefly entertained by a Kim Jong-un look-alike—hey, it’s a living—who was working the sidewalk outside a clothing store. I spent a longer time chatting with Thomas and Peter, two Dubliners who were staying with Peter’s uncle in New Jersey and who flew over just to be part of the fun.

Along Thirty-third Street, there are a string of Irish-themed bars: the Celtic Rail, Stout, and Feile. The Celtic Rail sits where used to stand McAnn’s, a classic Manhattan dive bar. In 1976, a group of us who had worked for Congressman Mo Udall’s presidential campaign came down to New York for the Democratic National Convention. We couldn’t get in, of course, so we repaired to McAnn’s to watch Mo’s speech in support of nominee Jimmy Carter.

“Out on Boot Hill in Tombstone,” Mo began, “there is a grave marker that reads—‘JOHNSON—DONE HIS DAMNDEST.’ I guess that was the story of the Udall campaign. Young and old, we gave it all we had. We hit hard, but we hit fair. We talked about issues and the hard choices we face. And we had some close calls and some overtimes and our money was cut off. We had more obituaries than Lazarus…but the big blue ribbon never came. We tried to be kind and generous and we weren’t afraid to laugh at ourselves.”

Of all my political memories, that was my favorite. As I stood in the motionless crowd of people on Sunday, in front of what used to be McAnn’s, I watched as people slowly left the line and filtered into the Celtic Rail, because the other two bars, Stout and Feile, had adopted a policy to keep out any patrons wearing any kind of campaign gear. (Esquire was unable to reach management at either bar to confirm this policy.) Feile was filled up with people watching Sunday’s Formula 1 race. (How does a place become a Formula 1 bar? It is a mystery.) Brian, who was working the door, explained the no-gear policy. “It’s based on that old saying ‘Never talk politics or religion in the bar.’ ” Considering that my fellow linespeople were wearing Trump shoes, Trump flags, and one suit jacket festooned with colorful images of the former president*, to say nothing of dozens of variations on the MAGA hat, this was a sensible policy. I watched Brian politely bounce these folks.

The Celtic Rail was the only place on the block that appeared not to be adhering to a no-gear policy, and it filled up quickly with people who had given up on the line. There was a steady stream of them coming down the sidewalk away from the Garden. Finally, at about 3:30, police came down the line, telling people that the Garden was full and that nobody else would be allowed in. The line melted away like April snow. Before the former president* even spoke, the police were taking down the barriers and the biggest crowd in the area was in front of Macy’s on Thirty-fourth Street, which is all dolled up for Christmas.

The former president*’s speech was hate radio on scan. He would stick to the teleprompter that he otherwise denied he was using and then go off on familiar flights of fancy. It was mendacity surrendered to foul, endless cliché, embedded in our politics for the foreseeable future. It was in fact not the banality of evil but rather the evil of banality. The lesser of two evils is still evil.

What brought me up short, however, was the interchange between the former president* and Speaker Moses about their “little secret.” This was new. This was startling. This was a moment of authentic danger. It drew some laughs from the crowd, but it was a deeper threat than anything Fritz Kuhn threw out to his slavering crowd. For all their imperial dumbshow, the Nazis of 1939 were not the threat to the mechanisms of democracy that this one little passage in the former president*’s speech was. The wink and a nod toward the ultimate in ratf*cking was more chilling than all the “Sieg Heils” that drove Isadore Greenbaum toward the stage, Nazi goons be damned. Fritz Kuhn had all the set decoration, but the former president*, surrounded by laughable grotesques of dictatorship, has the script already written and everybody knows their part.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Couldnt find any swastikas, Charles? No Nazi salutes? (Like, yanno, in Ukraine?) No railing against Jew bankers? No crazed white supremacists in the crowd?

So instead you write endlessly, it seems, about Nazis in 1939, hoping to paint a lurid "guilt by association" picture?
And you latch onto one phrase, on which to spin a dark and formless paranoia?

Wow. So obvious. Such bad propaganda. I hope nobody paid for that.

Nazis had Jews. Trumptards have Democrats. Nazis had a program to deport millions. Trumptards have a program to deport tens of millions. Nazis had an irreplaceable führer. Trumptards have Trump, their irreplaceable leader.

Trump’s former chief of staff, retired Marine Gen. John Kelly, says Trump fits the definition of “fascist.”

Kelly defined fascism: “It’s a far-right authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy.”

“So certainly, in my experience, those are the kinds of things that he thinks would work better in terms of running America,” Kelly said.

Kelly added that Trump is in the “far-right area,” and “admires people who are dictators,” which in Kelly’s view places Trump in “the general definition of fascist.”

Again, nothing but bullshit from you. I'll ask one question. How many Puerta Ricans live in the swing states?

Could Trump’s chat with Rogan swing the election?

One thing’s for sure: no one would tune in for three hours of unfiltered, unadulterated Kamala.

https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/10/28/could-trumps-chat-with-rogan-
swing-the-election
/

Well, first off, it isn't "swinging" anything. Unless something insane happens in the next week, Trump is winning this race convincingly, outperforming her in nearly every measurable way and sitting in a much better position than he ever did in either of the previous two elections. But there was nothing in this podcast that hurts Trump, and we will likely see increased Trump bumps in the polling later this week reflecting this appearance.

As for the idea of a Harris appearance? The fuck I wouldn't watch 3 hours of Kamala embarrassing herself on Rogan. The amount of great YouTube content I could create with that would be staggering. Totally worth having to listen to her nails on a chalkboard voice spouting nothing but lies and idiocy for that prolonged period of time.

Let's look at the view counts for the podcast appearances, shall we?

PowerfulJRE: "Joe Rogan Experience #2219 - Donald Trump
UPLOADED: October 25th, 2024 / CURRENT VIEWS: 38,549,429

Call Her Daddy: "Vice President Kamala Harris"
UPLOADED: October 6th, 2024 / CURRENT VIEWS: 734,410

Roland S. Martin: "VP Kamala Harris Talks Black Agenda With Roland in North Carolina"
UPLOADED: October 26th, 2024 / CURRENT VIEWS: 15,704

Club Shay Shay: "Kamala Harris' Advice To 18-Year-Old Self, Talks Student Loans, Stimulus Checks, HBCU & Donald Trump"
UPLOADED: October 28th, 2024 / CURRENT VIEWS: 1,038,750

If anybody knows of any other podcasts that Harris has done in the last month let me know and I'll be happy to add them to the list. I assume these are the only ones because youtube is suppressing them in a search if they aren't. That is possible since the idea of Harris having embarrassing podcasts that they don't want getting out there is very high.

3 podcasts for Harris with not even 1.1 Million views between them.

1 podcast for Trump with 40 Million views by the middle of this evening.

That 15k view count Roland's podcast is particularly impressive. I don't even know who Roland S. Martin is, but he's got 1.45 MILLION subscribers. The amount of people that tuned in to see him talk to Kamala for 2 hours is 1.08% of his subscriber count.

Pathetic. Period.

Kamala Harris On Lack Of Black Male Support: "The Brothers Aren't Saying That," "I Was Just At The Barbershop"

Oh shut the fuck up, you fucking racist.

The "brothers" know that you're not black. You really think people are so fucking dumb they haven't noticed you use at least 4 different bad accents depending on who your audience is that day?

It's like being at work and watching white Democrat voting people speak different when they talk to black people. Fucking cringe.

The racism of low expectations of the Democrat party on full display every single day with Harris.

When I posted about the podcasts above, the Trump appearance on Joe Rogan was 38,549,429. It is now currently 39,444,273.

That's only 894,020 views shy of what Kamala has had on all 3 of her major podcasts after just a few hours.

In other words, in about 1/4 of the 4th day that the Trump podcast was up, it was still pulling in just as many views as Kamala has gotten in all of her podcasts in total, combined. In other, other words, Trumps total view count today only was around 400% of the total amount of views that Harris has gotten on all of her podcasts since they've been up.

Based off of what?

More than 75,000 spectators gathered in Washington, D.C., to hear Vice President Kamala Harris' closing argument speech at the same site of former President Donald Trump's infamous "Save America" rally that preceded the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Her speech that I posted above. And Trumps bigoted rally at MSG. You talk about the tens of millions who watched Trump and Rogan. Well, after hearing about Trumps rally three top Puerto Rican celebrities tweeted out in a rage. They told their fans to vote for Kamala. How many followers do the have between them? Around 350 million. How many are in Pennsylvania, about 6 hundred thousand.
