It will still be a failure. I don't believe that it will make the $450 Million worldwide that it needs to break even, let alone whatever they would have agreed upon above and beyond that it needed to make to be acceptably profitable for the investors.

I don't think we'll need to wait to hear the actual budget to see the failure.

I was really hoping for a preview night below The Marvels here though.

I can't figure out why $12 Million worth of people saw it last night. Rotten tomatoes review average is terrible, and I haven't heard anybody say anything better than "meh... It was alright".

I think the 2nd weekend drop is going to be enormous on this, if it hasn't already dropped from what they would expect it to make with a $12 Million Thursday.

As we discovered last year, not one single movie in modern time could ever become the highest grossing Horror movie when The Exorcist has held that title since 6 years before I was born and nothing has even come close to the $3+ Billion that it grossed when inflation is calculated in.

I'm not going to do the math here, but go ahead and look at the top grossing animated films of all time and feed them all through an inflation calculator and I guaranty you that China doesn't come close to the top of that list.

Snow White and the Huntsman came out 13 years ago, cost $100 Million less to make and grossed $14 Million more in the US upon opening weekend than Disney's flop last weekend made.

The Huntsman cost too much 13 years ago and was lucky that it actually saw a decent profit when it grossed a little over $400 Million worldwide.

Disney's Snow White live action remake may not even see $300 Million in 2025. Depending on how bad it gets, it might not even crack $250 Million... we'll see what the 2nd weekend drop looks like. And unlike Mufasa that had a very slow start in late December, it's not going to have the benefit of being able to slowly milk the worldwide audience who has had virtually nothing else to watch in theaters for 3 months. April is a week away and we're going to start seeing some real movies start to drop.

I honestly forgot that Mufasa was still in theaters, and I had no idea that it was over $700 Million worldwide. It had such a terrible opening weekend and everyone pretty much thought it was DOA. I hadn't heard anybody talking about it at all after the 2nd or 3rd weekend and figured it aged out of theaters already. Still nothing that I'd ever watch even for free, but maybe it actually was decent.
