Key changes or modulation is cool, sometimes there is a long chord progression or a final cadence but game stuff usual is supposed to catch you like a commerical advert jingle while at the same time putting you in the zone hypnotic. Sometimes they use tricks, different rhythm and melody, call and response, the canon, or one Low line plays something and the high voice plays something else and eventual it add ups. They can have unsual phrases like those ambient techno songs that almost follow Classical music with unconventional structure instead of your 8 bars, 12 bar blues or 16 bars its not 4 bars of music its something else

I'm not sure but maybe that would be 'microtonal' something you do on synth but more tricky in the real world a whole tone is A to B or C D E ...Do Re Mi are 'whole tones' the half tone is using the black keys,a mix of white and black on piano for 'simplification' they call it chromatic, it would be the single jump of frets on your guitar or bass that is a 'half tone'...a simplification on quarter tones would be bending a note on guitar, or the cracks between the keys on piano, which you can access on keyboard with one of those pitch bending wheels

Maybe if not for that single higher bass note at 6:19 in the loop, I wouldn't think the song is half as great as I do right now? I had a quick listen you're right there is a change but I don't think its a quarter-tone as you say, I don't have perfect pitch but I dont think its a 24edo or 24tet note
Quote:Originally posted by JAYNEZTOWN: the 24 division of scale is a really weird sound http: //www . youtube . com /watch?v=7-RSg6eMlKE a note like this would not stand out for its Brightness or Darkness or Happy or Sad but it would sound like Modal Weirdness very 'Exotic'

Quote:Jack: Oh... See... I didn't mean "tone" then. I'm getting our wires crossed. I'm not talking about the sound of any notes, but the length of them. That note I mention that plays right at 6:19 and right around every 51 seconds apart from itself to and from that time stamp. At every other interval in the entire 51 second loop, the Bass starts at the TOP and goes down, down, down, down to the bottom and then starts at the top again. All except for that very short note. The "quarter-note" being about 1/4th the time I would say in my dummy layman speak what I considered a full note to be. Does that make sense?
