I've started a thread already to catalog Trump's future cabinet picks.

http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=66262

They should be scrutinized. As should any policy moving forward.

The government is going to keep pushing shit that we don't want through in those bill packages they always sign. The Mainstream Media is NEVER going to tell us about anything important like that while they keep everybody arguing with each other. So if anybody digs up something that's just sliding through that we don't want, here's a great place to mention it.

Examples of things I don't want to hear about:

"Project 2025"

"He/She grabbed my ass 30 years ago"

"He/She fucked the maid"

"He/She did a line of coke back at a party in 1998"

"He/She wore blackface at a Halloween Party back when Bill Clinton was President"

"This is the end of Democracy"

"This is the end of America"

"Racist / White Supremacist / White Nationalist"

"Nazi / Alt-Right"

There's nothing "Alt" about us. We outnumber you.

I also don't want to hear any Economist's feelings about anything either, since they've been just as accurate about the economy as the pollsters and intellectuals were about who was going to win the election.

Trump won.

Now it's time to hold him true to as much as he can possibly get done that he promised as well as holding his feet to the fire when he does an about face.

Anybody wants to have a legitimate talk about policy, here's the place to do it.

Keep your Entertainment Weekly MSNBC bullshit out of here though.

It's a little too early to start talking about Trump's policies, since he hasn't even nominated a Cabinet yet. He's gotten as far as Chief of Staff ... a complete unknown as far as I'm concerned ... and we've heard Musk is already involved in policy.

But it seems Trump learned a lot from his first four years. He's being very quiet about what he intends to do, and very cautious about revealing what he's doing already.

And it has been said that anyone who says they speak for Trump ... isn't. So we can trashcan whatever NYT or WaPo or FT or anyone else says; it's all just attempted deep state manipulation.

Wait and see, I think.

Agreed.

I'm trying to make it clear here that some of us are truth seekers while others will follow whatever they're told and believe that their party can do no wrong.

I'm under no illusion I'm going to be 100% on board with everything that happens over the next 4 years after Trump is inaugurated.

I want to know about legitimate concerns. I want to know what his actual thoughts on Section 230 is now, for instance.

I love the fact that the Democrat shitshow of a party got the bitch slap that it's long deserved, but I remember how easily things go the other way too. And I know that some of the people that voted for Trump along side of us long for the GWB years and wouldn't mind them making a comeback. And with the Democrats being so confused about everything that they let all the NeoCons in their party in a last ditch effort to try and win a race they knew full well they were losing badly, I know that Trump doesn't have nearly the majority it would look like he had on paper when talking strictly by party lines.

At least it looks like we are going to have a much higher caliber of people in the cabinet than we've had in a very long time. Probably my whole life.

Honestly, now that he's in office I think the most important thing he does is continue to plant seeds. I don't believe that the Senate and/or the House is going to allow him to do the things he needs to do and that he promised he would do.

We'll have some wins. We'll have some losses. Some executive orders will be signed, only to be un-signed the next time Democrats win in the meantime. Some things we were talking about will suddenly drop out of the conversation, never to be brought up again.

I'm just along for the ride now, and I'm interested in seeing what progress can be made. At the very least, we're stopping the bleeding for another 4 years.

...hopefully.

One thing about Trump - I think he is sensitive to his constituency. Unlike Dems and many Repubs who'll just manipulate the hell out of the public to achieve their agenda ... whatever it is ... Trump actually pays attention to what his voters think. I think the way he handled Covid and the abortion issue indicates that.

I'm fair certain he'll muck up the Mideast in favor of Israel. Most of his voters are either rabid Zionists (even if they don't know the meaning of the word) or rabidly anti-Muslim, or both. I was against his Mideast policies before, which I find as morally repugnant as neocons', and I'll probably be against them this time.

Then we have jarheads like JSF who're all for war with China over Taiwan, or perhaps ANOTHER proxy war we're supposed to fund and weaponize. What they didn't get the first time is that Trump's beef with China was primarily economic, not military. But if there are enuf gung-ho Sinophobes in his constituency, he may accede to some sort of direct conflict with China.

There are two related problems that I think will be impossible for him to fix.

The first one is splitting Russia from China, Iran, and N Korea. He might decide to go "maximum pressure" on Iran (Israeli proxy war on Iran) and China (tariffs, sanctions, etc) and offer Russia an escape route (end sanctions, offer favorable terms on Ukraine) in return for Russia reneging on its deals with Iran, China, and N Korea. But Russia doesn't break deals like we do. I don't think that will work.

The second problem is the BRICS' nascent alternative trade, payment, currency, and finance system. I'm trying to think of a way he might lever that apart. Secondary sanctions? Brazil is the BRICS' most pro- USA member, with ties to the Dem party, and Saudi Arabia is the next-most influential almost-member. I'm sure he'll be working on a plan to weaken BRICS.

My other concern is the Federal budget. Yanno, Trump's experience is in real estate, and it's all based on funny money at that level. IDK if Trump, at heart, respects the effect a huge budget deficit has on the value of the dollar and on world finance.

Anyway, it'll be an interesting four years. Assuming he doesn't get assassinated before his term ends.

I don't know.

Here's what Wikipedia currently says about him. Take that with a grain of salt because who knows what bias is currently infecting that link.

Book by it's cover be damned, at least in that picture he looks like a wormy little shit, doesn't he? Like a lawyer? Or Peter Jacobson's younger brother?

I keep hearing reports about Brandon and Kamala begging Trump to talk to them, share his plans, secrets, process. So they can be relevant, leak to Deep State and media.

Several agencies have claimed they will not allow him to exert Presidential power or authority, until he bows to their demands, paperwork, processes.
Doesn't sound like Trump is falling for it, and he has already explained why several times.

I didn't hear Trump's explanation for why not exerting Presidential authority. But one good reason is that he isn't President yet, and he has no authority and neither does his staff. Last Trump was elected, Flynn had a casual chat with the Russian ambassador and Flynn got destroyed by the deep state.

Is that why?

Hooray for ending the Ministry of Truth!

I see from SECOND'S repost of The NewRepublic's article, http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=65372&p=94 that, in the liberal hivemind, the answer to 2024 is "more censorship".

"People Of Israel Love Him": Mike Huckabee Tapped As Trump's Ambassador To Israel

Quote:

The appointment of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as the next U.S. ambassador to Israel has received enthusiastic support from Israeli settler communities and advocates of the country's territorial claims in the [occupied] West Bank.

Huckabee, an Evangelical Christian who has previously expressed his belief that God granted historic Palestine to the modern state of Israel, is a strong advocate for Israel's expansion in the occupied West Bank, which he refers to as Judea and Samaria. He also has a close relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Following the appointment, Yishai Fleisher, spokesperson for the Jewish Community of Hebron, expressed excitement, calling Huckabee a "great friend to Israel."

"We are very excited about Mike Huckabee. Governor Huckabee is an amazing person, both in his spiritual and political awareness," Fleisher told Newsweek. "He's a great friend to Israel. He truly understands the issues, has a heart for the people of this region [but only if they're Jewish. Everyone else is a non-person], and we're thrilled to have him."

Did you all catch his announcement which will end Ministry of Truth? It had sweeping components of his plan. Restoration of Freedom of Speech.

I can see I was not clear here.

Several agencies claim they will not allow him to exert Presidential power or authority, even after Inauguration. They have been demanding he bow to them since at least Sept - and they have not been giving him briefings, or "transition"

A somewhat separate matter, but similar, is Deep State begging Trump to share his secrets, plans, etc. He has stated on several occasions his reasons for not doing so.
I will not try to butcher or paraphrase what he said.
But it amounts to not wanting to repeat the game they played in 2016/7. The template or format went like this:
They want to blame him for something they did.
So they give him a briefing. Mostly, they then leak the contents of the briefing and then blame him for the leak.
Also, they include in the briefing a report which they know to be false and of their own fabrication. So Trump cannot deny such a report was in the briefing.
Then they "leak" this Fake Report.
Once their friends in media publish this for them, the Fake Report is now a published news story. And their fault is now distracted.
They did this many times, one of them was how they started the Russia Collusion Hoax to cover up the Ukraine Biden kickback scheme.

Hope that clarifies.

not an American but a British-born Hungarian, he has been on conservative tv networks, links to Breitbart News, where he worked for Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka was also a Fox News contributor, Gorka's view on Islam seem to be mostly accurate as I understand the opinions of Ex-muslim Atheists, others thing him extreme and say we are all the same and its a 'religion of peace' parroting islamo propaganda talking points, there are people linked to Sharia Law, Zionism and homosexuality like Lindsey Graham or the people maybe are linked to spooks Daniel Benjamin and Steven Simon who might link to spooks hate his views on radical religions. BuzzFeed, which Trump says is a failing pile of garbage wrote an article that said Gorka was unable to obtain a security clearance to work in the Hungarian Parliament, some crazy Jewish types online have called him antisemite or accused him of trying to holocaust them and say he will throw them into gas chambers, Gorka married a Pennsylvania woman, they live in the USA.

Ok, to be more specific:

BEFORE Trump was elected, I wondered (here) how he was going to react when he wouldn't be able to keep his extravagant promises on Ukraine, bc I knew for sure that Russia was going to be unyielding about meeting THEIR goals.

When you paint yourself into a corner, as Trump did, the best thing to do is STFU and work ... QUIETLY ... to get out of the box you got yourself into.

I could point to more of Trump's loud failures ... tariff policies and trade negotiations (not going so well)... reindustrialization (where?) ... negotiations with Iran (which should be the EASIEST thing to do, since even Iran doesn't want nuclear weapons) ... Gaza (just shut off aid to Israel) ... Yemen (no, our military is in no position to exterminate the Houthis) ... deportations (needs Congress to change some laws) ... the budget (Congress keeps pork-barreling along).

When things don't go his way, does he think making even more extravagant promises, more dazzle and bullshit, is gonna to help?

Maybe there are still powerful political, neocon, and/or deep state forces working against Trump. Maybe this is his way of smoking them out, making them public ... like Lindsay Graham and Keith Kellogg.

Or maybe it's his ego. Maybe he just can't give up on his TV show host/ real estate shyster/ maximum pressure approach.

Or maybe it's just the ADHD talking ... kids with ADHD just can't stop talking and crave attention. And they don't care how they get it.

But if Trump wants to gather support, he needs to GET RESULTS. And if his scatterbrained approach doesn't work, he needs to appoint people, like Witkoff, and subject-matter experts and maybe STFU and let them do their jobs instead of busting in, playing the hero, and screwing things up.

So I'll be interested in seeing if he can pull any rabbits out any of of those flaming bags of dogshit, bc that'll be quite some trick.

*****

In the meantime, kudos for controlling the border and tackling the mind-virus that is DEI/ LGBTQ+.

The ICE riots were an absolute gift.

I'm fair certain he'll muck up the Mideast in favor of Israel. Most of his voters are either rabid Zionists (even if they don't know the meaning of the word) or rabidly anti-Muslim, or both .

On the money so far. He'll have to pull a few rabbits out of hats.

I would have never predicted a blatant Epstein coverup. We know from the other end that Prince Andrew was a client. So how can they say "no clients" with a straight face? Epstein was prolly working for Mossad and, yanno, Trump loves Israel.

You win some, you lose some.

Our country is still going to be far better off than it was on the trajectory we were going.

Here's an adult take on this last week. I recommend that you consider taking it and seeing how things play out rather than play into the hands of stupid people like Ted.

Democrats are a Hive Mind. They had Ted looking the other way while they were allowing drag-queen pedophiles to read books to kindergartners and there was even that video of a girl rubbing up on a dude's junk because he was dressed like Ariel, The Little Mermaid. We don't fall into lock-step with evil people just because they're on our "side".

We're not going to agree on everything. I will decide when enough is enough and we're far from there yet with all the good that's been done and the bullet we dodged by not having Kamala Harris put the final nail in America's coffin.

Not a concern, exactly ... been there, done that. More like interpretation.

Three views of Trump's foreign policy,:

1) He's playing 5D chess. He has clear goals in mind, including ending our endless wars, but he's facing political bullets (and occasional literal ones) so he's having to do a lot of distraction and dodging and weaving to get to his goals. Simplicius and Alex Krainer think this way.

2) He's seriously conflicted. Some of his goals conflict with other goals. Like: He wants to make peace BUT he doesn't want to lose. He wants to negotiate BUT only when he's in total control. So he waffles back and forth, depending on the state of his ego at the moment. the Duran.

3) He's been a neocon all a long, and he's just part of the same pattern that the USA deep state has been exhibiting all along. Scott Ritter, Brian Berletic, Larry Johnson.

I think tariffs are a good idea, but I think Trump is fucking them up.

For the first roughly 150 years, the USA used tariffs to protect domestic industries and generate revenue.

Quote:

Tariffs in U.S. history have evolved through three main periods: a revenue period (1790–1860), a restriction period (1861–1933), and a reciprocity period (from 1934 onwards). Initially, tariffs were a primary source of government revenue and aimed to protect domestic industries, but their role has shifted significantly over time, especially with the move towards free trade after World War II.
It's only been since WWII that we started doing away with tariffs.

If you think we should reindustrialize, as I do, tariffs are part of the picture. But IMHO Trump needs to do more than lower taxes on domestic companies, lower energy costs, impose tariffs, and cross his fingers. He needs to compel industries to invest in production instead of stock manipulation, he SHOULD do this sector by sector, and he should insure both infrastructure and supply lines.

How would you even know if he's fucking anything up?

The Media does nothing but bash Trump 24/7 for 12 years straight, and they put out new stories that backpedal on old stories or just forget the old stories they printed a week or two ago because they know their readers already forgot about them.

All I know is that things are working 1,000% better than they were a year ago from today. As long as that keeps happening and we're not ushering in the age of Orwell in the meantime, I'm just fine with the way things are going now.

Spent two whole days not posting here or paying any attention at all to politics and it was wonderful. The only reason I'm here today is because I need to break up the monotony of cleaning inside the house and I'm rained out of the yardwork for another 2 days.

My new plan going forward is to limit my political news intake to no more than 20% of what it used to be on a daily average since Covid, and I want to get my old man and a few of my friends to cut out even more than that. I had a pretty deep conversation with my friend's younger brother from the West coast the other night, and while it's clear that he and I (and my friend) probably wouldn't agree much on politics, he simply refuses to talk about them and has cut them almost entirely out of his life. He's sick of wasting all of that time and emotional energy on stuff he has no power over, and during that conversation is when he announced he quit his job at as a chemist at a major pharmaceutical company that I won't name here to go into business with himself. He's been working out again for the first time in 7 years and it really shows. He's got no more time for all of this noise and bullshit, and I want to be more like him.

And you're talking about a short-term problem that was caused by trying to fix a very, very long-term problem that everybody before now was just kicking down the road, $37 Trillion after the fact and counting.

Our entire economy is built on ponzi schemes. I know that people don't want to fix anything because they can't stand being inconvenienced in present day, but your generation did most of the damage and most of you won't live long enough to suffer the consequences of any of it. I used to think that my generation would eek that one out as well, but the chances of that are looking slimmer by the year.

I'm not going to worry about Tariffs until they've done at least as much long-term damage as Joe Biden*'s inflation for 4 years has done to the American people. I can give a shit less about people not being able to buy a brand new car or $1,500 smart phone every 2 or 3 years like they used to.

Here's an idea on the cars. Take all the computer shit out of them and stop trying to force coal burning cars on everyone, and then nobody needs China's rare earth minerals. It's not as if they're the only place on earth that has them, we're getting a boatload of them from Ukraine in the coming years now, and if we're not wasting them all on huge inefficient EV batteries or trying to make Wind Power make any sense when we have Nuclear power at our disposal, we'll have more than we need for our computer and smart phone needs.

Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution vests the power to lay and collect tariffs with Congress. The Founding Fathers intended for legislative oversight on taxation, tariffs, and related financial matters, viewing tariffs as strategic levers to be used with caution and prudence.

The President has limited latitude to act independently of Congress within the boundaries defined by existing legislation and constitutional principles.

This judicial oversight ensures that the President’s tariff-related powers align with congressional intent and constitutional mandates.

Trump with Tariffs, as with all else, ignores the laws and constitutional boundaries put in place to make sure no one individual wreaked havoc, like a bull in a China shop. Which is exactly what Trump did and is doing.

The terrible result of which is detrimental to America, tenfold.

First, it’s a tax on not just American businesses, but also on the taxpayer. Which is why it falls to congress. The president does not declare new taxes. He tells his party what he wants in the form of a budget, and the house and senate hash it out and vote on it.

We are the most powerful country in the world, or at least we were a few months ago. One reason was because we had friends. Allowing them to profit was a way of keeping them friends. These same friends would help us when we needed them too. Now, because of Trump, they hate us.

If you or anyone else thinks we are going to see a resurgence of manufacturing anytime soon in America, wrong. It takes a decade to build the infrastructure needed. Then, wages will be too high for anyone to profit. If Apple wanted to manufacture the iPhone here. It would take a decade to set up the infrastructure. Then it would cost 3,500 dollars per phone.

Price hikes because of tariffs are going to make many businesses go under. And these same price hikes are going to cost the average person around 2,300 annually. Why, so Trump can give 2 trillion in tax cuts to the top .01 present.

This is the short answer

T

Trump has failed to lower costs. Now is the time to fight for it.

It's not rare earths that's the problem. We have plenty. It's the infrastructure needed to create the final product that is the problem. Again, one more Trump fuckup.
