Texas Republicans I know voted for their "reasons", none of which had anything to do with Trump being a troll. The Republicans and Trump are reactionaries. FDR, LBJ, JFK were Democrats, Hillary is a Democrat, and anything a Democrat wants ought to be rolled back by reactionaries until we again live in the wonderful days of Warren G Harding. Soros is an interesting character. In interview, he said that his personality was formed during that time. He said that he helped confiscate Jewish property, but then later said that he had "no role", but in between those statements, he said that if he wasn't doing it (confiscating property) then someone else would. He also said he felt NO GUILT about what he did.

I think what he MEANT to say was not that he didn't have any "role", but that he didn't have any decision-making capacity in the process, that in the face of overwhelming evil one does what one must to survive. However, my impression is that the personality that was forged during that time was a very amoral one. Not a Nazi "sympathizer", but a short-term collaborator and a creep.

I'd like to get back to the philosophical underpinnings of why I called Soros a "despot".

This individual has more money than about 60 nations' GDPs, and he is spending it to "create" or "enforce" the kind of society HE wants to see, and quite frankly it doesn't seem to matter to him what the people under his influence want.

Without getting into a discussion about whether what George wants is a "good idea" or not, this enormous imbalance of power itself is "despotism". And while different elite individuals (such as George) may advocate different things ... some think that we need more "democracy" and others think we need more "population control" ... I have yet to see ANY of them advocate for a change of rules that would destroy THEIR concentration of wealth and power.

I find that "do-gooders" and "philanthropists" enjoy their positions of power very much. So while they may advocate for "color revolution" and their less-well-to-do followers might concentrate under the banner of "R2P", they will never advocate for a system where their outsized "charity" would become UNNECESSARY, because that means that they would lose their position of influence and power.

There's a kind of "one ring" logic to "philanthropy", and that is in order to do much "good", one must have much "power", and this imbalance of power creates the very problems that they are trying to "solve".

The one thing I wish people would stop talking about when it comes to Soros is any supposed Nazi affiliation in his past, whether under duress or not.

At best, it's a red herring, at worst, it's reason for somebody to doubt other very legitimate and very provable claims about what a monster he actually is.

I don't understand anybody's attempt to try to link him to Nazism. It doesn't do anything to bolster an argument against Soros, and you don't have to go nearly back as far as World War II to see the truly horrible things this man has done and continues to do.

STOP USING THE WORD NAZIS PEOPLE.
