Here's your answer, Jacob...

If we raised the minimum wage right now, almost anybody on either side wouldn't even notice.

Why is that?

BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T RAISED THE FUCKING MINIMUM WAGE SINCE 2008.

If employers were still paying people $7.25 an hour in 2026, especially after Covid, you'd be seeing a LOT more CEO's being Luigi'ed.

That's the minimum wage. That's what I was making 10 years ago. When I got laid off from a company that paid higher than the minimum wage in 2019, I was making $11.72/hr after my worthless .22 cent an hour raise. That company now pays no less than $15/hr in every state in the country to start. That's 50 cents more than team leads made when I was there.

The only people who are affected anymore by the minimum wage in 2026 are whichever unions have it written into their contracts that if the minimum wage increases, their wages also increase. (The Elevator Repair Union comes first to mind).

Raise it to $15 now, and nobody else would even notice it.

Here's an idea.

How about you raise it to $15, but also put in there that it needs to increase every single year along with inflation, just like SSI payments do?

Otherwise, just shut the fuck up already. Because, unlike in 2008 when it was raised $1.00 to the current $7.25 an hour, raising it to $15 now doesn't help anyone, and we'll just go another goddamned 2 decades before it ever sees another increase.

Raising the minimum wage is the best way to hurt working Americans.

I've never heard of a Union which does not have their contracts tied to increasing with the minimum wage. Got an example?

I've never bought that. That may have made sense in the 90's when I was a kid and the only people working that job that weren't team leads, managers or the store manager were kids and a few retirees who were bored.

But the last 3 jobs I held were "kids" jobs, I wasn't working with any kids, and more than half of the adults had 2 jobs, with some of them trying to balance 3 part time shitty wage jobs with no benefits.

That's stuff that people who have always made well above minimum wage tell everybody else.

My only point here was that you could now raise the minimum wage to $15 and it wouldn't even be noticed by anybody, so if you're not going to tie it to inflation than it's a pointless endeavor.

Your viewpint is completely shortsighted.
The only people who benefit from minimum wage increase are the Union "workers" - and the Unions automatically increasing dues from that.
Union wages increase, automatically and immediately, with backpay - every contract includes that.
This surges inflation, like Obama and Obiden were so eager to do. Want to see a $20 Big Mac? Doubling the minimum wage overnight is the recipe for that.
Minimum wage jobs are mostly "fill-in" jobs, not career trajectories. A lot of part-time jobs. When the minimum wage jumps, these are the first jobs to get cut, if the business owner wants to stay in business. If they give up, then all of those jobs evaporate. Eventually, the balance of wages, product pricing, automation or AI replacement will work out, and each cycle, fewer jobs are left.

So, minimum wage increase immediately benefits Unions, and spur inflation (devaluation of the dollar), which every non-union American must pay the price of, while the folk actually making minimum wage, or even the lowest paid folk, must spend years struggling to catch up to the sudden inflation - if they ever do.

Yes, it is a great fantastic scam for Libtards and other Democrats: always screwing the little guys, or the honest guys.

Maybe you don't drink Starbucks, so when Baristas demanded higher wages, you didn't notice. But all of them who became unemployed seemed to have noticed.

Also, the Union wages are already tied to inflation. The CPI-W is the normal reference. So inflation increases iflation, the Snowball effect. The only independent factor is minimum wage, which is why Libtard insist it MUST be used to crank up inflation. No, Libtard politicians do not need to suffer from inflation.

You completely missed MY FUCKING POINT.

The jobs in America now suck. We've outsourced nearly anything that we could.

And now the kids can't find jobs because the adults are all working the kid jobs.

And they're all part-time shit jobs with shit wages and zero benefits.

What's your argument against that?

We just don't insure people through work? How does that work out for the taxpayer? Right... We're subsidizing healthcare, so you're paying for it instead of the corporations. People can't make enough money to buy food? We're subsidizing that so you're paying for it instead of the corporations.

Then there's the EIC for single mothers. I worked overnight at K-Mart busting my ass every night for less than $50 after taxes were taken out. Tax time comes around and this woman I worked with was stoked. I said "I've never heard anyone say they were excited for tax time". That's when she told me she was getting $12,000 "back" on her tax return because she has 4 kids.

So because she couldn't keep her fucking legs shut and was fucking a guy (or many guys) who wasn't going to stick around, she got paid more than twice what I got paid for the same job. And that's on top of the $500/mo. food stamps and health care for her and her 4 kids.

YOU paid for all of that too.

Now multiply that by what? 10 Million? 20? 30? More?

Do you get it now?
