This thread is for discussin' all the dumb notions that have no bearing on reality, and how we can all relax, 'cause this junk isn't gonna affect us.

The fact that so called 'Global Warming' doesn't exist, and nothing bad is happening.
Civil rights are in no danger of erosion, the Patriot Act is only for terrorists, so it's okay.
Bush didn't lie about WMD's, they were there, and sumpin' happened to 'em.
The war in Iraq was absolutly necessary, as our shores were next to be attacked by Saddam, or someone who knew him, possibly a nephew.
Polution levels are just fine, so don't worry.
The corporations are on our side, they have to be, don't they, I mean, we buy their stuff, right, and if we didn't, they'd be in trouble. So that's why they have to be nice to us.
There are no conspiracies, no matter what all of 'em who are plotting behind our backs say.

Let's hear from people with common sense, now.

Don't ya feel all better 'bout things, now Chrisisall

This is hyperbole. You always refuse to back up your statements with facts! You didn't even say who the 'director' was going to be. This is no discussion! Besides, I know everyone at Disney personally, and they would never do such a thing!
You're merely being inflamatory, for it's own sake.

P.S., if you're not using your civil rights, can I have 'em? I seem to be a little short this week...

The effect of eliminating or curtailing the 2nd Amendment will be to make us a safer country, because if we make guns illegal criminals obviously will obey gun laws and no government would ever attempt to abuse their power to the extent that the population should need to defend themselves. And the 2nd Amendment is really not Constitutional because the founding fathers didn’t mean for it to be applied today.

Social security is fine. It will never go bankrupt and the social security taxes aren’t being used as a slosh fund for anything the government decides they want to finance.

Socialist governments never oppress the people.

Unborn babies are just pointless meat sacks that should be killed at the convenience of women.

9/ll either didn’t actually happen or if it did, it was the fault of Jews and George Bush.

Saddam Hussein was really quite kind and fuzzy. China would love us if we would just sell them our military secrets. Islamic fanatics hate the US because of George Bush, or failing that, because Americans are evil capitalist pigs. The argument that Islamic terrorism against the US and other Western countries existing long before Bush and actually getting out of control during the Clinton Administration is irrelevant because it doesn’t involve hating Bush.

There is no such thing as terrorism. That’s just something created by the Bush Administration to scare children.

Keep the Shiny side up

There is no good reason to own a big SUV. I could tow my 5000 lb racecar trailer or carry a dozen 6x6 landscape timbers with a Prius (or maybe a bicycle) if I really believed.

Despite the fact that new cars in America produce 1% of the pollution that cars did 35 years ago, and that the US has stricter auto pollution standards than Europe, they're killing us all with their noxious fumes.

Public transportation can meet everyone's transportation needs - if we just all move to an urban environment and businesses all relocate to within walking distance.

The Left Wing never lies, or even exaggerates. You should believe everything they say, because they know what's best for you (much better than you do yourself).

People in Europe also know, better than we do, what's best for us.

Guns are evil. They will jump up all by themselves and shoot people.

Small, family-run organic farms can feed the entire population with no increase in cost.

We don't need nasty nuclear power, but we should probably get rid of those polluting coal, gas, and oil-fired plants too, and hydroelectric floods all that nature...anyone got a low emissions candle?

The following is from another forum.

I just wanted to point out something: according to the Bush administration Fahrenheit 9-11 was completely correct with every single thing presented with one minor exception. That means that it, though not necessarily it’s creator, was a reliable source of information.

Now I do not claim to be an expert on Michael Moore, but I do believe that when his propagandistic rivals say he is honest he is honest. The Bush administration has said he is honest, the fact that they did not say it on the front page on a high traffic day is perhaps a sign of their opinion of the need to recognize the truth.

The fact is that when someone presents entirely factual information to the public I think they are a reliable source of information. When someone makes a single mistake I still consider that person fairly reliable.

I do not claim that the man is a reliable unbiased source, but none of his adversaries have pointed to a single situation in which a RELIABLE source says he intentionally told or presented a mistruth.

On the other hand I can point to situations where those people that run our country, the President and Vice President for example, have been shown to have done this many times, the source was the United States Congress.

-

I trust the Congress unless I have strong evidence not to as it is a bipartisan organization with no clear ulterior motive, therefore I must believe that the leaders of this country have intentionally mislead the American people many times.

The alternative is to believe that the US Government is incredibly corrupt.

In a democracy such as the US the elected leaders are held to a higher standard, not a lower one.

The American people have spoken, President Bush and Vice President Cheney were not in the wrong.

If they were doing something as morally deplorable as you imply the Republican Party would never have nominated them, incumbency or not. I refuse to believe that so many of the republicans of this nation are corrupt, regardless of what you may claim RMS.

Even if they are, why would a majority of Americans who cared enough to vote elect someone who had betrayed them? They wouldn’t.

The President and the Vice President were not wrong when they deliberately misled us for their own purposes. If they had been, and still got reelected, then democracy would have been proven a failure.

If deliberately misleading the American people is acceptable even under the higher standard we hold our leaders to making an error or two in an otherwise completely factual presentation is acceptable.

Michael Moore could not have been in the wrong, because if he were it would mean that the President was, the Vice President was, and the majority of voting Americans were as well.

I refuse to believe that our country has come to that.

But bear with me before all of the punishment for not getting with the program.

I’ll start again.

On a serious note:

What is up with the damn organic farm thing? Everyone seems to want organically grown food, what inorganic way is there to grow food?

If everyone eats and drinks only organically grown and harvested stuff why can’t I market hemlock as the latest heath drink, “Drink the stuff of geniuses. When Socrates first tasted it he knew he wouldn’t drink anything else till the day he died. Just one time and you’ll soon be free of all illness,”?

Ok, so maybe that didn’t come out totally serious, in which case I won’t be burned at the stake, but I do want to know:

What exactly is an inorganic vegetable?

Sorry it’s slightly off topic.

Yeah, I know,

Entertainment companies of all sorts -from print to prime time to video games- know exactly what the people want and will never settle for giving them anything less than perfection.

When God handed the bible down to men he didn’t really mean any of the parts about giving your money to the poor, judging not, not casting the first stone, or any that crap.

The important part is where it says gays are evil and marriage is between a man and as many women as he wants.
