I can relate with how these guys feel, the video reminds me of UNPROFOR in 1993.

Thanks, GinoBiffaroni, that was real interesting.
I would respect the governments and NATO more if they'd just say,'Okay, it was funny, and expresses certain troops feelings about military intervention.', but of course, being the beaurocratic ----heads that they all are, they have to act like they didn't laugh themselves when they saw it.

Will they win an MTV award? Chrisisall

Yes, but it is always the guys in the mud who wind up taking the shit when this sort of thing happens;

Been there a few times too

Would be a cool video to give an award to

" Looking for a place to happen

British soldiers in Iraq have recently made a similar spoof video (although a lot more light hearted) set to the Tony Christey song "Is this the way to Amarillo". It aparently crashed the M.O.D. (Ministry of Defence) website because so many people were trying to download it.
The M.O.D. responded by saying words to the effect that it was officially frowned upon but if it keeps the boys morale up wheres the harm.
I tend to agree.

I think the lesson here is:
Don't creativly express yourself. Especially if you're low on the chain.

That’s certainly one interpretation.

Or perhaps the lesson might be: Political strife is only funny if you’re very far away from it.

No sense of humor???

I do admit that the video was funny, but that's just because I'm on the western side myself.

Anyway, think about it, if some country's soldier who were in your country made a similar video and called you "bad American/British guys". How would you react???

"Somewhere far overseas, there's a place called Kosovo, that's where you don't want to go if you're Albanian at all... Milosevic, you son of a [expletive]."

Let me rephrase that:

"Somewhere far overseas, there's a place called America, that's where you don't want to go if you're against Bus....Bush, you son of a 'peep'"

Humor that is directed at some people is likely to make them feel insulted.

I think if it were simply the objections of the Serbians, it would have been ignored completely...

I think that by pointing out the serious flaws in NATO and EU policy towards Serbia itself as well as the rest of the region is not being taken so litely.

" We never know what happens after we go.... tough luck for Kosavo "

After all, you have to remember how this all began, Serbia deployed its army after the Western supported KLA began to attack members of the Serbian minority in the area, then NATO encouraged by the US and Britain began its bombing campaign of Serbia to stop them.... Now years later we have NATO troops trying ( without much success ) to prevent the Albanians from killing the Serbian civilians...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4193208.stm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3928153.stm

you are right, the video does demonstrate the anti-Serbia sentiment of the organizations involved... But we knew that already. It is also part of why intervention there is doomed to fail.

The video should be taken for what it is, an expresion of humor and frustration towards bad policy, failed good intentions, and a loss of innocence ( think you own side is always, absolutely right ) There is so much grey involved with reality.

BTW

"Somewhere far overseas, there's a place called America, that's where you don't want to go if you're against Bus....Bush, you son of a 'peep'"

I think that is both fair and true as well.
