Saw this up at the Prospero boards, thought I'd bring it over here for our own personal amusement.

http://www.okcupid.com/politics

I basically came out as I thought I would (70 liberal/10 liberal/Socialist), curious to see how some of the rest of you pan out.

Huh, it told me what I already knew! But does it seem funny (not "haha" but peculiar) that the one line commentary was the same as CITIZEN's as a Socialist? Weird.

Another test described me as a Liberal Libertarian, okay Libertarian is considered more rightwing but individuallity is Libertarian 'belief' and I certainly believe in that. I also believe in things like National Health (it's a right, not a privilage), so maybe the definitions between right/left Liberal/Libertarian etc. aren't as well defined as we all would like to think ...

Tests do not account for ones concerns that
transcends personal ideology. Things can be
happening in the global system that may
make a person feel compelled to diversify
their position for pragmatic reasons.

Mine read:

You are a

Social Conservative
(36% permissive)

and an...

Economic Conservative
(80% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Republican

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

The part about me being a Republican is actually wrong. Over the last decade or so the GOP has moved to far to the left for my taste, most especially with all of the socialist welfare programs they've joined with the Democrats in supporting.

Try not to overthink this one, Howard. It's just a fun little test, dude. I'm a "liberal," but even I have my conservative issues. This is just a cute way to see how others would rank you, it's not a weighted issue.

I took the stupid test and I really hated
many of the awful loaded questions.
It told me I was an SOCIAL LIBERAL and ECONOMIC
LIBERAL and then it told me I was a bloody
DEMOCRAT. Bollocks to that! It poorly computed
my answers I voted to end large corporations
then it calls me an Economic Liberal. Of course
the question is inflexible of course there are
exceptions. I voted against the Iraq War but it
calls me a DEMOCRAT...that don't figure. Kerry
was going to send 100,000 more troops and
Clinton bombed Iraq on average at least once
every three days for his entire eight years.
Also the American-centricity of it all like that
question about France and the one about the
Holocaust denier or the one about respecting
someone who has been in a war..which war? for
what cause?

Tests suck!

PS and that question of lethal force it said
to defend your property it did not say to
defend your family. So I voted against. If I
was defending people I would have voted yes.
But I ain't killin' anyone just for stuff!

Designation socialist, kissing Ghandi's heart on the celeb chart. No big surprise, I'd admit to being a Ghandi-kissing socialist any day.

OT. Well, politics, but OT. I have a portrait of 3 generations of my family taken outside the open, rusty gates of the bedraggled courtyard of the Noriega mansion. It's one of my favorite posessions. The guards took it for us. My parents have changed from Rebublicans to Ghandi-kissers in the course of our time together. They like me much more now.

It told us all that we have splendid senses of right and wrong and economic fairness though, didn't it? This little AI is stumpin' for a book contract, I'm a-thinkin'.

I thought several of the ?? were pretty disturbing, well, alot of them were pretty disturbing, but these really stuck out...

Comming in at #1 on the disturb-o-meter
If I am dating someone, I like to know where they are & what they're up to at all times.
Yes, this should be acceptable behavior in some universe!
Dating Service to the CIA

Something like the theory of natural selection explains why some people are homeless.
Yes, but there's nothing natural about it.

It bothers me that many American companies have moved jobs overseas.....but not for the reasons they're probably weighting for (if you shit in your own nest, you shouldn't be able to move next door).

I should be able to sell my vote for cash....
Carl Rove did write this test! With the help of the Govenor of OH!

If countries like France are unwilling to cooperate....
we should continue to make boycott the french fry jokes. Pretty scary that they chose France as an example of "other".

Art!! All social commentary!! is troubled by the eroding distinction between entertainment and marketing.
Boo and poo! A causality loop between this question and the one about the homeless aught to do it, I should think.

Thanks for the test. I always find this kind of thing amusing in a horrifying way.

Oh, and my law to be enforced forever by goons?
That no law should ever be enforced forever.

Bright 'n shiny capt'n, not to worry.
