Aw... nuts. I only saw the last quarter of the game. The USC offense did the best they could but the USC defense sucked. Oh well- it was a good game.

SEVENPERCENT

Speaking of Reggie Bush, this gives us a good opportunity to debate something of vital national importance - football.

Now, the big Q is, who will get Reggie Bush in the draft? Here's the thing - the two or three teams in the bottom (#1/#2, etc.) of the drafting lineup don't need a running back (and really, he's not an every down back anyway, he'll probably max out at 20-25 touches a game - no workhorse I suspect). Houston has Davis, and with a QB that's been sacked 200+ times in 3 years, I'd be willing to bet they trade their first round pick for a few lower picks to pick up an O-line (or if they don't, they're morons - 200+ sacks? I'm surprised Carr isn't a vegetable). Frisco's okay at RB, they need a decent secondary and maybe a receiver or two (again, no need for Reggie). Same with Green Bay; they have a strong back in Gado, they need to look at some other areas. Detroit needs a QB, not a RB; closest team I see needing a Reggie-caliber player at that position is the Jets (Martin needs replaced, that's for sure - but then again, so does half that team).

So the question remains - who gets Reggie? I doubt he makes it all the way to the Jets (they should draft, what, 6th?), but no one below them really needs him. Does he A) get picked up by a low team, who trade him later; B) get picked up by a higher team trading up for draft picks; C) get picked up by a low team who can't use him instead of what they need; or D) any option I haven't thought of yet?

Oh. And another thing. Any bets on whether or not he flames out in the NFL, as previous hyped players have done? I don't think he will, but I know several of my colleagues who think otherwise.

He looked bigger when I couldn't see him.

It's not Football. Football is the game you guys call soccer. It was around first, it was called football first, it is football.

Take your girly Rugby wannabe game and re-name it .

KNIBBLET

Several decades ago, I had a torrid affair with a gorgeous, stunning, lovely, tall and broad, sexy hunk of RAF Corporal who was a rugby player.
The bumper sticker on his car:
"Rugby players eat their dead!"

Bodies in order of easy on the eyes:
1. Soccer players. Perfect diamond shaped thighs and defined chests.
2. Rugby players. Something about those shoulders gets me.
3. American football players. Too much emphasis is given to 'size' which somehow translates to carrying 100 lbs of extra flesh.

I actually saw some of those behemoths up close. They were not fat - they were big. Big, big, big.

OOC, if soccer is football, what should one call US football?

Anyway, I too saw just the last quarter. After Texas had three successful passes in a row, you would have THOUGHT USC would have minded the receivers a little better.

lol, couldn't agree more, Citizen. Why do they even call it football if most of the time the ball is carried or thrown? It don't make no sense.

How about "paid programming", because from what I've seen, American football consists mostly of time-outs and advertisements, with a little bit of a game mixed inbetween.

How 'bout footish ball? Or hey! Better yet- fetishball.

Rue- Yep. Really really really big. I used to go the USC to play racquetball once in a while, and once in a while a whole herd would thunder past in the halls.

Oh, I have no idea who'll pick up Reggie. I don't follow pro footishball much, and only college footishball bc USC was involved.

Mad Pigskin Scramble?

Nah... That could never get past the "PC" police. The words Mad and Pig are both SURE to offend someone. You know, come to think of it, Scramble might even offend chicken activists... I like it.
