In truth, the bastards have never really *stopped*.

Think about it, this goes all the way back to Nixon and McCarthy, when they were doing much the same thing, and this exposure reveals decades of abuse prior to even Shrubs administration, so likely, just like always, the alphabet agency goons, feeling that they were above the law, which they prettymuch are, simply ignored any orders to the contrary and kept right on doing what they've been doing for many, many years.

This surpises me not at all, since without the threat of accountability (because they always throw down the 'national security' gauntlet) there will be abuse, whether it be via civilian firms like doubleclick, credit companies, or what have you, they're going to steal and collect such data because they can, in case it's 'useful' later on, nevermind that it's illegal, never mind that it's *explicitly* against their charter to do so, they're above the law, remember ?

And when you ponder how incompetent they are, and how easy it likely is for hacker scum to steal from those databases and sell to even slimier people - you could make a case for them collecting such info as a breach of our security.

Quote of the Day-

The greatest threat to our national security, is our National Security.
