It's probably due to his age. AS a teacher I see this a lot. Kids who are desparate for approval and attention, but who have few skills or behaviors that give them good attention, often seek it by acting out and trying to provoke others to pay attention to them. It's something he should grow out of as he get's older...just ignore him. You're only reinforcing the bad behavior when you pay attention to him:)

CAUSAL

WAY back in the day (months and months ago) it was River6213 that was acting insane and generally making life less-than-wholly-pleasant. We tried working with "her" but "she" kept it up and eventually "she" got shouted down and then ignored, and ultimately just disappeared. Not long after that, Shadowfly shows up and makes "his" now-infamous appearance in the "Names and Faces" series of threads. He gets shouted down and disappears. Then Kaneman shows up (right in the middle of the third iteration of the "Names and Faces" thread) and picks up right where Shadowfly left off. Now, the interesting thing about all this is that this is one-and-the-same person (River=Shadow=Kane), who has claimed to have up to 17 accounts on this site. As each successive "troll" persona is rejected, a new one just takes its place, hydra-style. No amount of mod intervention will solve this problem. The deeply ironic thing about this mess is that this individual keeps coming back to this board because s/he gets the kind of reaction s/he is looking for. For crying out loud, s/he has his/her very own thread now! This person clearly has some sociopathic tendencies, possibly Antisocial Personality Disorder (see description at http://www.mentalhealth.com/dis1/p21-pe04.html ). While that is a tragedy, I'm not sure FFF.net is the place for River/Shadow/Kane to go to take out their impulsiveness. I have to throw my lot in with MSG--any type of attention at all will only fuel his/her behavior. The only real way to respond to this (deeply disturbed) individual is to ignore him/her. S/he'll either conform to social norms or just go away.

Pirate News isn't a troll. Neither for that matter is TheRightStuff. A troll can't just be someone with extreme views, it has to be someone who is making it their lifes work to insult and interfere. Also, PN has an actual medical condition, so if he's sometimes belligerent, I don't think it's intentional.

Trolling, IMHO, is something that's completely under control, they know perfectly well that they're trolling, and it's not something you just happen to do, and they can stop at any point. They just get a kick out of insulting people.

There are a couple of people here like Auraptor, whom I disagree with on probably 90% of what comes us (which is usually federalism and foreign policiy) If other things such as faith-based initiatives, economic issues such as privatization of social security, etc. were to come up, we'd probably agree on a lot more because we're both conservatives. But I don't follow AUraptor around posting 'assraptor' or something like that.

'Chris eatsshitisall' is way way over the line, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I think Kaneman can post logical intelligent things when the less-dominant sane personality is present, but when 'Mother' arrives, it's all stabby.

A sane person would have responded to this post with, sorry, I didn't realize I was crossing the line. I think that an anger management class is probably in order. I personally doubt the 27f, but on the internet, no one knows you're a dog, but everyone knows you're a troll.

In general I agree, but the fact of the matter is that there are people out there that are a fair bit beyond there teens that behave like this. Some people just don't grow up.

For instance, my sister who's in her 30's would fall in the troll catagory. Though she's a IRL troll (isn't exactly technically inclined), she's a troll none-the-less i.e. pretty much everytime I enter a room where she is, she tries to "poke the bear." There's no reason for it, she just attacks me whether I open my mouth or not. Whether what she says make sense or not.

It's sad really.

Just saying that there are exceptions to this rule. Maturity doesn't necessarily come with age.
