Schitzo thread? That the frak is a schitzo thread? Gorramn chrisisall, starting another stupid thread, and mispelling "schizo" as in "schizophrenia" to boot.

Doesn't he know bad spelling makes Baby Jesus cry?

Chrisisall:
You seem very dichotemetric. Some days you're all "Love Humanity", and others you get all flame-y, like you hate peeps or something. You claim to want to see us come together- then you post a "NeoCon" rant...How does that bring us together? What's up? Are you playing with your meds? Really Chris, sometimes you come off like a complete asshole. No offence.

Chrisisall:
None taken.
Okay, yeah, I can see what you're saying. My inner Buddhist is always screaming at me that I never calm down.

Chrisisall:
That's pretty funny. Do you write this stuff yourself?

Chrisisall:

I'm just sayin' that sometimes I feel posessed to call bullshit, y'know? You believe this, I'll believe that, it's all good. Then death gets involved, and the funny drops away. As a math problem, I just can't see how anyone can like Bush. It doesn't add up. So when folks back him, it's like they're backing getting folks killed for...well, nothing more than perpetuating war. I tend to wig out at such times.

Chrisisall:
So now you're a history expert? You know for a fact that Saddam wasn't a threat to the world, even if it might have been a few years away? You don't think that a more stable Middle East is a good thing? You know a better way to oust Saddam?

Chrisisall:
YO! Slow down, dickwad! Of course I'm no expert, and I can't say for a fact that Saddam would NEVER be a world threat- I just see no evidence to say he would be! And yeah, a more stable ME is a good thing, I just don't think that's something we can give them, that's something we could have helped them with, but power isn't something you give, it's earned or taken; we give them a democracy, and I see a civil war coming by those that would TAKE it. And the last question is trying to get me to say we HAD to oust Saddam, sure he was a jerk, but more peeps are dying now per week than almost ever under his admittedly heinous rule.

Chrisisall:
Kurds don't count?

Chrisisall:
STFU!!! Of course they count, but it wasn't the norm, especially recently! This is totally NOT what I wanted to talk about anyway!

Chrisisall:
Well, what DID you want to talk about? Did you want introspection? You wanted to be funny, that's all you ever want. You use humour to escape. You're a clown.

Chrisisall:
Ouch, Mommy...that mortal wound itches .
Yeah, I can't say that's totally off, but I try to be serious sometimes. Maybe I should keep my mouth closed a little more. Like many, I need to listen more than spew.

Okay, I'm done. I feel like I'm talkin' to myself here....

Not to geek out on ya, Chris, but schizophrenia is characterized by hallucinations and delusions. Splitting one's consciousness and arguing with oneself is actually dissociative identity disorder (originally multiple personality disorder).

What are you doing back on this board? Who cares if someone says "schitzo" for D.I.D.? Everyone knows what that means. Hell, didn't MLKJr use that word to mean the same thing? Go get a life.

Yeah, I smell something burning in the oven. Better go check.

Sheesh. There are better ways to spend time, ya know... than hanging on a board where most everyone rolls his eyes at ya.

Yeah, you're right. I really should have better things to do than invite invectives.

Damn straight.

OK....But you know, there ARE a lot of nice people here. I like listening to them sometimes.

Keep the Shiny side up

So why is it that the self-proclaimed liberals on this forum think that anyone who disagrees with them watches Fox News and reads Ann Coulter? Pretty narrow minded, it seems. I watch my local NBC news, listen to NPR, and check AP and BBC for worldwide coverage. Can't think of when I've watched Fox and I've never read anything by Coulter. Guess they fall for the stereotype. Too bad. Limits actual discussion of issues.

Wonder if I can make corned beast out of one of those antelope roasts in the freezer? Google is my friend.

Finn: This is really an ingenious thread concept. Why the hell didn’t I think of it?

Finn: I don’t know, but don’t tell Chris that, because it’ll go to his head. It is pretty cool though. Like the random thread from darkangeltv board.

Finn: Ha, I loved that thread. That totally made darkangeltv.

Finn: Yeah. What the hell ever happened to that board?

Finn: It’s gone, dude.

Finn: Dude, that sucks.

Finn: I was on another board a few years ago, where they had a random thread, but it wasn’t as good, because they were assholes.

Finn: Speaking of assholes, my cat is only sociable when it’s starving. What’s up with that?

Finn: Yeah, your cat sucks. Its damn hair is all over my suits. It’s got 5 inch long hairs. What kind of cat has 5 inch long hairs?

Finn: Maybe you should vacuum more?

Finn: Vacuum what? Those damn hairs are viral microfilments that borrow into every fabric until they become one with the fabric and eventually consume it. I’m not even sure that we should be talking about this, because if those hairs hear us, we’ll both end up like an X-file.

Finn: Yeah, my cat sucks.

Finn: You should grease it down so that the hairs don’t fly off everywhere.

Finn: And when it walks too close to the fireplace it will combust like Magnesium.

Finn: Wicked.

CAUSAL

What is the nature of introspection? If my mind is nothing over and above my brain state, how can my mind turn inward upon itself? But on the other hand, if my mind were something other than my brain state, something non-physical, how could it possibly interact causally with the physical?

But wait a sec, just because we can't say how something works doesn't mean that it doesn't. The mere fact that it's hard to figure out how non-physical stuff interacts with physical stuff doesn't entail that there is no non-physical stuff. That's just crap logic. Heck, even if it's impossible to figure out how it works, it still would not entail the non-existence of a non-physical mind.

On the other hand, let's not go around multiplying entities. Let's use inference to the best explanation and the Principle of Parsimony. What's the better, simpler explanation? That the mind is merely the brain state, or that the mind is some non-physical thing interacting with the brain by some unexplainable causal process? It would certainly seem that the former fits IBE and the Principle of Parsimony better.

But on the other other hand, How can a mere collection of cells, no matter how complex, give rise to consciousness? The experience of pain qua pain seems to argue against the reductionist view of the mind--after all, why do we call it pain and say we have an experience of it as opposed to having some mental operation like "The pain receptors in your arm are being activated"?

Man, you think about some wierd stuff.

Oh yeah? Why do you keep using, "let's," "we," and "us?"

I'm rather offended by this, I've been diagnosed with schizophrenia myself and I can assure you it has NOTHING to do with multiple personalities, it's a more severe case of High Anxiety and mental disorder and I've been struggling with it for years. I know you meant no offence Chris and most times I'm delighted with your threads but this one rubs me wrong. People may read my post and say I'm over reacting but if you had even a small sample of what I go through everyday you'd understand it's not a joking matter. I take meds everyday and even then sometimes I live in a private nightmare. I'm sorry to take the fun out of this, but I felt the need to clear things up.

I appreciate that Rue, I know this was meant as a little tongue and cheek but mental disorders are as terrible as physical disorders, more so because at the moment there's really nothing anyone can do but take medicines that you hope will lessen the illness and not give you any terrible side effects. Schizophrenia can lead people into bad things, the worst of which I almost did years ago before I got help. If I didn't have my art..... well let's just say I wouldn't be here making this post. I just ask that people keep that in mind when they make posts like these.

Bulldog mouth overloads Pekinese ass, no that’s not it – cart before the horse? Pearls before swine… ?? can’t even get that right.. I hope everyone here knows that most of what I say –(think) – is Banta fodder and when and if I do have a serious moment, it’s usually alone in a dark corner huddled with my demons…. I certainly don’t blame Mr. Isall for giving my brain a nudge in the direction of absurdity – he was after all, seeking serious introspection – and I immediately go into full joke mode – recycling stale Firesign Theatre material to boot… maybe I can still get into that Sensitivity Training session with the local law enforcement guys – lord knows those are some racist bastards – oops…there I go again….

In staying with the spirit of the thread 6SJ finds himself having to post in the 3rd person, quite like he would imagine Bob Dole would if he were here trying to sell us some Viagra.

6SJ was just hoping that MistressSahara could understand that this thread was never started as a knock on anyone or any nasty jab at anybody with a psychological disorder.

6SJ thinks we're all good folk here, even though we can get under each other's skin pretty deep sometimes in the RWED. Why else would he come back all the time, aside from the bordom and tediousness of work. There's practically an infinite number of sites 6SJ could go and argue with people on to pass the time, but he chooses to do it here with his fellow Browncoats..... even if they act more like Alliance sometimes.

6SJ is hoping that MistressSahara can understand the true intentions of this thread and realize that in continuing to post on this thread, people are not perpetuating a mean spirited attack, but rather partaking in a very interesting and introspective exercise which 6SJ finds to be quite intreguing.

6SJ thinks that MistressSahara is in good company because after meeting many people at fff.net and knowing the Browncoats he knows in real life, and knowing just how far outside of reality he can be himself most times, it has occured to him on several occaasions in the past that being "not right" in the head is a pre-requisite for loving Firefly. "Normal" people just don't get it.

6SJ hopes MistressSahara understands.

6SJ is quite positive that he spelled intreguing wrong twice now, but is too lazy now to go to dictionary.com to check. 6SJ is a horrible speller by nature.

MISSTRESSAHARA

Alright 6SJ, you made me smile. As I said earlier I know it was meant in a fun way and I didn't want to be a wet blanket, just there are many people who get the illness wrong and perpetuate the myth and makes it harder for those who have it to come forward. It took me nearly 5 years before I told anyone I was suffering, including my family, and they still really don't understand. Add many years after that when I confessed to my near attempt. I just wanted to let people know it can be...... hard and frightening at times.

YINYANG

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

I agree with 6SJ.

Really? That's... uh... new. I think.

No, I think I've done it before.

Well, you agree with his general intentions, although the specifics can get... sticky?

Not the right word.

Whatever.

FINN MAC CUMHAL

Finn: Hey, Finn?

Finn: What?

Finn: You’re a Honky Fish Eating Mick.

Finn: I’m offended by that racist and intolerant remark.

Finn: Who gives a shit?

Finn: I don’t know.

Finn: Well, shutup then.

Finn: Deep down, I know you don’t want to hurt me with your words.

Finn: Ass.

6IXSTRINGJACK

On behalf of fisheaters worldwide, 6SJ would like to raise his objections to the obscene remarks made about them by Finn.

But 6SJ?

Yes JS6?

You're Irish too.

Right! Let's go get drunk!

Brilliant!

6SJ would like to let MistressSahara know that he has a very good idea where she's coming from and has been in a very dark place for a very long time himself and knows how frightening the the darkness can be. It wasn't always that way and it has gotten quite a bit better over the last couple of years, but 6SJ has come to terms that he will never fit society's definition of "normal". Especially since he won't submit to taking pills to "normalize" his behavior and will continue to try to work out his demons on his own terms.

6SJ is very happy he can make somebody smile every once in a while when he knows that people's usual reactions to his thoughts are to rip out their hair and spew obscenities.

6SJ has been through 2 seperate episodes in the past which shrinks have tried to convince him were attempts, but is still in denial that that is what was really going on subconsciously and thinks that it's just stupid things that kids do sometimes.

Though 6SJ is aware that he's the cousin that everybody hopes won't show up to Thanksgiving Dinner, he wants MistressSahara to know that she's around friends and family here and is glad that there aren't any hard feelings.

6SJ still hasn't heard anything from TWG for a while and really hopes that she can forgive him for being so wrapped up in his own opinion that he was insensitive to her in another thread.

Once I have the opportunity I need to inform 6string that TWG has left and that this is her latest (and possibly last) blog entry:

I'm going to take some time away.

I've gone away before and returned...hopefully I won't be gone for good. I just need time away from some of the attitudes here. This isn't just RWE stuff. Things just aren't the same and I haven't changed with them. I don't know if I'm stuck in the 'good ol days' or what. See ya round.

Bye.

6SJ appreciates Khyron taking the time to point that out. Was wondering where she went to.

:(

6SJ really appreciates her specifically mentioning that it wasn't the RWE, but can't help but feel that an offhanded remark not even directed at her is the reason she's gone now.

Maybe she'll be much like 6SJ and say she's staying away, but come right back in a few weeks cause it's hard to stay away. Hoping she's okay and she knows about the regret deep within 6SJ. Thinking somebody close can tell her.

You know you're an idiot? Multiple presonality is not an aspect of schizophrenia. You totally got it wrong, and as usual, are an ass.

Chrisisall:
You're right.

FINN MAC CUMHAL

Finn: Finn?

Finn: Yes, Finn?

Finn: It seems to me that in our politically correct charged atmosphere there is intent to embody words with greater malevolence then is truly possible. Although modern thought seemingly rejects curses and witchcraft as primitive notions or conception of fiction, modern sensibilities has been unable to abandon the idea that a word is endowed with some form of malice regardless of its usage. And this has begun to surface in alarming ways concerning the modern concept of social “tolerance,” which like the old idea of curses has begun to resemble a superstitious control of language.

Finn: Yes, Finn. For instance when I call you a “Honky Fish Eating Mick” it is because I hate you and intend to kill you later, and it is perfectly reasonable that a person would be offended by that. But it is not the words themselves that are offensive, but their use.

Finn: Indeed, Finn, and I was quite offended. Good show! But this is not the way all words are used. For instance, the word “Schizo,” in the current context, is not used as a direct reference to people suffering from Schizophrenia. The worst that can be said about it is that it is a very informal term, but this is a very informal discussion.

Finn: So how should we respond to such concerns?

Finn: I think sixstring did well in assuaging those concerns, by pointing out that there was no slight intended.

Finn: Yes, Finn. You are a smart cookie.

Finn: Yes. Yes, I am. I think a reading from the Holy Scriptures is in order:

A reading from the Episode of “The Savage Curtain,”

And it came to pass that when the image of Abraham Lincoln was beamed aboard the Enterprise he did speak to Lieutenant Uhura saying, “What a charming Negress." But thinking his language had offended (as perhaps did the 1960s audience), he spake again saying “Oh, forgive me, my dear. I know in my time some used that term as a description of property.”

To which Uhura responded, saying “But why should I object to that term, sir? In our century, we've learned not to fear words.”

Finn: So sayeth the Holy Episodes, Amen.

Casino Royale was cool. But Bond was a wimp. He had a hard time w/too many peeps. I woulda kicked their asses quick.

Chrisisall:
He beat some down in seconds. Others took a little longer, 'cause, well, chase scene.

Chrisisall:
Jet Lee should play Bond, but with make-up. Sort of a reverse on the thing Joel Gray did in Remo Williams, The Adventure Begins.

Chrisisall:
You have too many thoughts. :disappionted:
